Thanks for the look.

So, when mag release button is pressed, the mag doesn't drop. I googled it, it seems this is a design move to stop the mags from dropping, and the plastic on the extended mag from breaking.

I understand that if I file the raised ridges down inside of the grip, the mag will drop again. Will this void the warranty? The mags not dropping is unacceptable.

The extended mag doesn't even budge when the button is pressed. Not at all.

Thirdly, the button has to be pressed to far that the pressure could be what is causing the mags to not drop. With the extended mag, the button has to be pressed further and harder than the short mag.

Can this be fixed without sending it back?

My wife has to carry this peice, and the state the magazine relase system is, is terrible.

I'm sitting on a PM9 with a similar situation. The 6 round flush mag drops fine, but the extended mag stays put unless pulled on. There is noticable resistance, even when pushing it in. I don't think this is intentional. Since I don't use the 7 rounder except as a backup mag, I haven't gotten around to thinking about it...but I may contact Kahr.

Theres a good thread around here I believe GB Greg posted part of it where by he did a little TLC on that mag catch. It seems some just have too much contact in the mag so some can be removed and it can also be tapered a bit.

Some mags drop, some don't. Kahr says they aren't designed to drop but people have sent them in and they came back dropping.

A little careful sanding will help if its the mag well. Some mags people have found are just a tad bigger and fit tighter. Some get better with wear also.

Punch in mag catch in the search area and see if you can find that thread, it was a good one.

Heres the thread I mentioned. Got a huge headache and didn't figure I'd find it but I got lucky.

Good stuff to consider.

That is disappointing to me to hear this. I heard the same thing from a Glock27 owner and he has all the 40 cal Glock models, but it did not seem to matter to him. I would be greatly disappointed. When I received my original mags with the PM40, I gave them a light coat of paste floor wax and buffed them up good. This is how wood workers protect metal saw tables and other tools and it greatly helps the wood slide on the surface of the metal. The original mags on my PM40 dropped fine when I received them. I purchased 3 new extended mags (6 capacity), gave them a light coat of paste floor wax and they also dropped fine. I was concerned when I ordered them because of all the horror stories like this, but I guess I lucked out. I don't know if it was the paste wax treatment that prevented a problem or not. I wonder if there isn't something inside the polymer that causes them to bind ??? If I had the problem it would immediately have gone back to the dealer to send back to Kahr. Sorry to hear about this.

Mine is just the opposite, my 7 rounder drops free while the short 6 rounder only drops about 3/4".

one thing is for certain a good paste wax on the magazines willnot hurt anything, andif it works for one, it just might work well for others to. I am a firm believer that there is sometimes a small difference in the size of the magazines and that iswhere issues start to arise. If one is just totally bent out of shpae because his gun won't drop um on the cement, then just keep sending backthe magazines that won't untilyou get it right. I really think we make to much to do out of it, but in my cse mine never dropped fromd ay one and that didn't bother me one bit. Actually now i prefer it that way, ..

I think it's the mags. Besides the fact that loading the mags is like pressing your thumb against a razor blade, the back of both mags has a line of black leading down them, the entire length of the mags.

Upon closer examination, it appears that the weld on the back is huge, and sticks up.

The sides of the mags have some drag, but the bulk of the drag is on the front and the back of the mags. They are getting stuck in the mag well.

They fit so tight that i don't even need to engage the spring, I can just put the mag half way into the mag well, and they stay put. They fit that tightly in.

I wonder if I smooth the weld out will they slide out, and will they also fall apart?

I am disappointed in this buy. I was very excited when my wife picked this weapon, as it melts away on her tiny frame, and she is not afraid to shoot.

In fact, it was her who made us get our CPL's and take firearms training. Now, I wish she liked the EMP, or anything else but this purchase.

I am sure Kahr will fix it, but we just spent 650 on the piece, and she will be without her personal protection for several weeks while Kahr has it at the factory.

So, so very disapointed.

Just call Kahr and ask for new mags. I would not try filing down the big welds, just have them replaced.

Ok, did a little nosing around.

Her mag release is the all metal kind.

It just looks like the rails are tight, but it is really tight at the front and the back of the mag well.

It just seems to need a little filed off.

If we do this, does it void the warranty?

It just needs to be a little more loose. She would like the mags to drop maybe 1/2 and inch more.

Have you discovered WHERE the mags hang up? If they drop a bit then stop, what happens if you pull them just a bit more? Do they then fall out? I had the issue and found 3 things cause it.
1) Polymer mag rails inside the mag well need sanding and polishing/waxing.
2) Mag release sticks out too far. (file just a bit)
3) Mag lips spread dragging on the rails. (adjust with care)

You have to remove the slide and have good light from the top to watch what happens. Do it repeatedly to determine if more than 1 thing is causing the issue.

The poly rails make contact with the mag so they and the mag need to be slick where they contact. If you sand the rails, finish up with a very fine sandpaper to polish it back then wax it. Never tried it but auto polish paste may work for that. Polish mags where rails drag. Should see tracks on mags before doing polish, that's where to work it over.
