Hi everyone I'm new here just bought a CW9. I live in California. I chose this gun because in CA we are regulated to 10 round magazines unless LEO which I'm not. So I saw no sense in purchasing other brand double stack guns that can hold higher cap magazines.
I prepped the gun as recommended in the sticky. Went to the range to break it in with 115 grain FMJ Winchester Whitebox from Walmart. As the gun got hotter I noticed the accuracy wasn't the same. So I let it sit and came back to it. I would be accurate for a few magazines then way off. It could be me getting tired, I don't know.
When I lock the slide back and look down on it from above I notice that the barrel looks crooked in relation to the frame, and the slide is crooked also. You can see where it rubs more to the left side rails since there is a gap on the right side.
Also there is a gap between the frame and slide. Is this normal? It's quite a big gap. You can see through it easily. I put tape on the wall so you can see it through the frame in the pics. You can see the head of the target at 7yds the the gap.
Last my guide rod looks chewed up. When I broke it down to prep it for the first time I noticed this. Now it looks worse.
Please help if this is normal let me know. Or if I'm being a paranoid noob let me know too. Thank you.

Fonzy, until some of the other resident experts here and we have many chime in I'll say all is well. I don't see anything not normal. When the slide is locked back that barrel can move around pretty much as it pleases. It just happens to be a tad off to the side but alot of that might be the picture angle too.
I dont think you can get that barrel hot enough to harm accuracy, getting a little tired or a tad sloppy sounds like a more viable explanation.
The guide rod has the recoil spring flexing and twisting and going back and forth so getting scratched up is just a fact of life. You can put a stainless guiderod in it which will help it cosmetically but your factory guiderod will run a long time.
Your targets look awesome, you've got a good grasp on the trigger finger latch up as you perfect in windage and grouped well in elevation. I suspect a bit of anticipation which certainly isn't a character flaw in the least. I'd be proud to claim those targets myself.
I think your fine.

wow, now we are worrying about how the barrel looks witht he slide all the way back. His groups are excellent, I guess I wish my barrel looked like that to with that type of shooting groups.
Just go out and shoot the damn gun like you stole it. The only thing wrong is that your worrying about NOTHING.

Your gun is normal. If your worried about your guide rod you can upgrade to a stainless steel guide rod, which is what I did. The ss guide rod is aesthetically pleasing and supposeably helps with felt recoil.

Good shooting. Also the low and slightly left drift looks like it was shot from a hand that had already done a few rounds. I can tend to do the same thing after a 1/2 box or so as that trigger pull is LONG.
Keep on shooting and you'll figure out what is causing it. I have to make sure to grip firm, and pull the trigger even and smooth without jerking that last little bit causing it to go low.

Congratulations on the new Kahr CW9. Welcome to the great group of gun nut and very helpful folks! From what I read and see on your post the pistol is normal. My CW9 guide rod did the same as the blue wore off the rod. I now have more than 900 rounds through my pistol! All were trouble free. Are you a revolver shooter? If not the CW9 may take some time to master the trigger. From your target you are shooting great. Keep up the good work and shoot safe.

Alright guys thanks a bunch. I don't know anyone else that has one so I don't know if it's normal. There are gouges on the guide rod that you can catch with the finger nail. I notice when I dry fire the whole slide rocks when the striker falls. If this is good than it's all good. Thanks again.

gotta remember when that kahr recoils and ejects a round the slide is coming directly straight back but the barrel is caming downward. Doing that puts the guide rod at an angle to the slide and therefore as the spring in the guide rod is being compressed, it just has to have some friction on that guide rod as now itis being copressed at an angle and will bend/bind or what ever against that guide rod as it is sliding down the guide rod. What you are seeing is normal.
Some have bought the more expensive all stainless rod and it seems to be more durable. but your guide rod as bad as u may think it looks will give you no issues. Plus they are fairly cheap to buy from kahr also, so replace as u feel the need to but just remember. IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT.
by the way, your dead right to, ask questions if you have them, not ever owning a kahr or seeing another one, I can understand your concerns. so ask away, these guys here are sharp and they are all alot smarter than Nancy Pelosie to.
