I am looking at replacing the sight from my CW9 with a metal one (you ever have a sight fly off at the range? - it sucks).

Has anyone here actually seen/installed one?

I'm wondering if the front sight is screwed in (a la Glock) or staked. I asked Dawson tech; they were no help.

Also, if someone has installed one: how hard is it?

Thanks!

the replacement night sights by kahr for the cw screws in. If dawson makes sights for the cw kahrs, I would bet theirs screw in. they make super sights and I am told them actually make um in house to...

It is a no brainer to installthe front sights, no slide mods needed and I think witht he kahr even they might even put a tool in that fits the nut on the front sight, ( I think I heard this somewhere )

Folks have reported that Dawson sights are staked on. They also posted that Dawson provides instructions and the tool needed with the sights; 10-15 minute job working carefully.

FWIW, I have the sights Kahr sells on my CW45 (and will be getting a set for my CW9). The front sight from this set is indeed attached with a screw as jocko posted.

I replaced the front and rear sight on my CW9 with the Dawson sights and the whole process didn't take much more than 15 minutes, if that much. The front sight does stake on and the tool and instructions come in the package. The rear sight came with a delron tipped punch which makes things easy there too. Dawson makes a great product and I have been very happy with mine. Jocko swears by them---- good enough for me.

Thanks guys. You're way more helpful than the Dawson tech person who responded to my e-mail.

Dawson front sight instuction sheet...
This should clearly show you what you need to know.
I would Heed the "Do Not Over Tighten-Vise" part.

Hmmm . . . this is why I would prefer the screw-in type of sight. Getting a hold of a vice will be a problem.

But I already placed my order and with any luck, I will have a favorable report next Thursday.

I guess I missed the part about the vise, didn't use one. I put the sight between two old 1911 magazines and taped it in place to hold it. Did the staking part that way and it worked fine. Maybe that isn't the recommended way, but it worked for me. I figure if the sight is solid in place it didn't matter much.

Dawson sent me the wrong sight. I received one with a dovetail mount; not the pins necessary for the CW9.

I called my order in because the descriptions and pictures didn't match. I figured the employee answering the phone would know. I was wrong.

I'm glad my other carry sidearms are Glocks.

That sucks! They do not seem very with it... first they could not tell you how they mount (I found that info I posted on their own website, you would think they could have directed you to it) then they send you the wrong part. Not good. What is the warranty on Dawson night sights?

I just want a front night sight and so far they are the only ones offering that, But I would much prefer the screw on type Kahr sells as a set only. I sent Kahr an email weeks ago asking about buying a front only night sight for my CW9 and they never responded...Thats poor C.S. IMO.

I hear you on the Glock, My other carry is a G26 with Big dot 24/7 night sights- Love it!

I called Dawson Thursday morning. I worked out a deal where I would return the sight and they would send me the correct sight right away. I paid extra for express delivery (Dawson and I split the cost on that).

Friday morning, the next day, UPS brought my new sight. I took it to my machinist buddy and the sight installed in a snap.

- I realize I paid extra money to return the sight and for the expedited delivery and that was not cool, but I really wanted the sight. Now my Kahr has no weaknesses (I don't like plastic sights).
