Picked up this LNIB MK9 Elite 03 last week. I haven't shot it yet, but will next week. I think she's a keeper. I installed the SS guide rod then took it to my local gunsmith and he put a jeweled finish on the barrel, I think it looks better than factory....what do you think?:bump2:

Yeah, the gunsmith did a nice job. I told him I wanted the barrel polished because I didn't like the factory coating. When I called to see if he was done, he told me he jeweled it. I had no idea what he meant but when I saw it, I was happy. He also told me he removed no metal on the barrel and jeweled it because he feared if he polished it, the barrel may get sloppy. I think it came out real nice.

Very nice looking gun, The jeweling looks right at home on the steel framed gun.
How do you like the recoil spring guide rod? Thats the Kahr or Bedair?
Did it come with a bushing so it could be run with a dual spring setup like the factory plastic captive system?
I ordered the Wolff system which is no captive and is black, So im not so sure how ill like it as stainless would certainly match the gun better.

I see you have the PM9 also, Mind doing a side by side comparison thread and list the pros and cons of each and which you prefer for what job?

Im not sure if you seen my post i put in a thread in the MK section.
But my MK9 out shot my Ria Officers CS .45 3.5" at 25' and the RIA i installed a quality after market trigger and did a full trigger job on and is sweet as all get out.
But when you look at the targets the MK9 took out the bullseye's out of every target i aimed it at, My 1911 wasn't far behind but you could see a difference.

Ive been a 1911 guy for the last few years as the triggers just cant be beat when tuned properly, But the stock MK9 out shooting it with a DAO trigger which ive always disliked completely amazed me. As far as DOA triggers go Kahr is the "Gold Standard" of DAO in a semi-auto.

the jeweling looks nice, I had it done on my PM9 and after about 200 rounds it was all worn off. Hope you have better luck. Cylinder and slide even did the jeweling..

I believe the SS guide rod is from Kahr. I like it alot.....the look of it in the gun that is. The end that sits inside unscrews so the captive system remains intact. It was quite easy to swap out the plastic for the SS.

Since I haven't shot the MK9 yet I can't do a proper comparison other than to say that they both have the same dimensions, PM9 is definitely lighter. Another post another time.

As usual I'm a little late on this one but it looks awesome to me. I always liked jeweling. Done a little bit of shade tree jeweling myself with mixed success. I normally just do the hood but doing the whole barrel looks great too.
As Jocko said it will wear off in the wear areas but the hood for the most part usually stays intact. Of course this would vary alot depending how things wear. I like bling and flash myself.

You got nice family going there. Keep it up and 10kahrs will have a competition on his hands.

10kahrs will get no competition from me....(see honey). I should be shooting the gun this week, I'll let you know if the jeweling stays intact.:target:
