I have mentioned before that I'm getting a PM9, but I found out today that my son is giving me an almost new Ruger LCP for Christmas. He got in on a trade for his S&W 29, along with an AR. It's no PM9, but it will surfice for those times I don't want to carry the PM45.
Now for my real question. I have the $ I don't have to spend on the PM9, and I found a new Desert Eagle 1911 today that I really like at a good price. Since Kahr bought MR, does that mean I can still come to KahrTalk if I buy it?

If you had no Kahr pistols you would still be welcome here. You're an icon around this place. Of course not to the level of Sir Bawanna and his side kick Jocko but still an icon.

oooo, ouch on the Sir and sidekick comment. I think there may be a few comments forthcoming with those titles out there! To the OP, of course you're welcome to stay on KahrTalk, O'Dell - DE1911 or not. But of course, if you decided to unload some of that spare 9mm ammo that you mentioned for a sweet price now that it will be of no use to you with no PM9 forthcoming, I may make my vote more emphatic!! ;)

Thanks Dusty, I think. I've never been an icon before that I know of.
You're got a good memory Mikey, but I still have my old C9 car gun and a 9mm carbine. Plus, I'll probably donate some to my son to use in the HP I gave him for his birthday. He seems to enjoy shooting it.

O'Dell, it was worth a shot anyways! Good on you for donating some to your son and keeping your 9s well-fed. Since you mentioned it, how's your 9mm carbine been treating you? I'm intrigued by the concept as I'm looking into the new year and the potential for new "accesories" to add to the PM9. A 12 gauge is definitely in the running, as is a 9mm carbine...and also I come back to the Mini 14 every once in a while in my thoughts and my instructor is encouraging me to consider an AR-15. Ah, choices choices! Okay, enough thread-jacking...for now. Here's to hoping that you're able to reunite with your "friend" that's currently being held in storage pending trials, etc. for the holidays. And that other missing "friends" also join him in holding very soon. Oh yeah, and how can I forget - hope that sweetie from the Waffle House also joins that sweet stable you're building there.

man u can come to kahr talk anytime, doesn't matter if you own a kahr or not. If you stick on here long enough, YOU WILL OWN A KAHR eventually.
Subliminal indoctrination, I think that is how Bawanna describes it.
You have been good to this forum, so stick around..:third:

Stay tuned guys. The MRI sub-forum will be here this weekend! I will do a post there talking about their products to get the ball rolling. I finally had a chance to talk with my contact at Kahr about the various MRI product lines. I was debating doing sub-forums for them, but for now am going to just do a single MRI area. I may split that out later if we get enough members oriented around their separate products (Desert Eagle, 1911, and so forth).

My 9mm carbine is the old style 995 that I bought 3 or 4 years ago. I haven't shot it in six months, but it's never had a problem. Out to 100 m, it's pretty accurate too. I like the short length for HD. My son carries an AR in the trunk of his car, and he loves them. He just got a new one in the trade for the Smith 29.
Yeah, I want to get the SIG back ASAP. I talked to the DA last week, and he's shooting for an early disposition, but you never know. It could be days, weeks, months, or gasp, years. I'm selling the replacement P220 I bought, because I know that I will eventually get the old one back.
The deal with Angela at the WH is on hold, because we don't really need her now. Maybe later, as she would be good for business. Gee, you really do have a good memory, or else you've been reading my old posts.

No, he got a nice AR too. The LCP was just to add value. He already carries a P3AT for backup and he likes it, so I'm getting the Ruger. Personally, I'd rather have the LCP, as my experience with KT wasn't stellar, and my KP345 runs like a champ.
I'll probably get the DE next week. I'm trying to decide whether to buy a Commander size or the full size.

I do hope I'm in compliance. My boss and her boss and several officers stopped in, one even did a traffic stop on my wife to confirm the rumors so I have witness's.
Jlott called it correctly, just had to have a Gall Bladder yarded out, got it just in time or they said it would have been ugly. Ugly enough as it is.
Jlott may have to act goofy and up his post for another day or so, I'm only good for a little upright at the moment. Sore being the key word.
I think I've come up with a good replacement for waterboarding terrorist. We'll just yank their gall bladders, that'll cramp their style for awhile.
I don't know how this compares to run ins with ice cream on the roadway but if its anywhere close I don't want to do it again.
Back to normal in a day or two, carry on.

well.... it took me a while, but I did find a couple of relevent line items in the company policy:
SICKNESS
No excuse. We will no longer accept your doctor's statement as proof. We believe that if you are able to go visit your doctor and sit for hours in his/her office, you should be able to come to work and do the same (we know what you do while on the clock).
LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR SURGICAL PROCEDURES
We are no longer allowing this practice. We wish to discourage any thought you may have about having an operation. We believe that as long as you are employed here that you will need all of whatever you have, and should not consider having anything removed. We hired you as you were on the date of your contract, and to have anything removed would certainly make you less than we originally bargained for.
DEATH (Other than your own)
This section not germane to current discussion.
DEATH (Your own)
This is acceptable as an excuse provided:
(a) Two weeks notice is given so that you can assist training a replacement
(b) If two week notice is not possible, you must call in before 0800 so that a sub can be lined up
(c) you must pick up a form 44r278 from the Admin Office, sign it and have the attending P.M. physician sign it, and deliver the form (in triplicate) to the Admin Office within 24 hours of death (your own), or the time will deducted from your final check
Sorry Bawanna.... it's a tough life in management

Hey Bawanna45cal, sorry to hear you're laid up but glad to hear that they got it in time. I've had family with "ugly" situations relating to the gall bladder - be thankful they got to it in time. And please take it easy and don't push it too hard. We'll miss ya but we'll be waiting patiently for your return. Once you get back, you'll have to let us know if they had to peel off your PM45 on the operating table! Maybe it helped make the surgeon know he needed to make it a good one. And here's to hoping you could get it done laparoscopically!
I do hope I'm in compliance. My boss and her boss and several officers stopped in, one even did a traffic stop on my wife to confirm the rumors so I have witness's.

I guess I need to post a change of plans to my change of plans. I had been having second thoughts about the Desert Eagle. Nothing against the gun, but carrying a full size 1911 at 40 oz could be a problem for me. [I'd hate to carry a gun that outweighs me] Plus they are all black and I prefer stainless or nickel or whatever to avoid wear problems. The kicker came today when I took the CPO P220 to my LGS, and since he already had 5 used P220, he couldn't make a good offer.
So, I called to the dealer in SD who sold it to me, and he offered to take it back for what I paid, less shipping, as a trade on a new pistol. The P220 hits the UPS road tomorrow morning and when it gets to SD, he's shipping me a shiny new loaded stainless SA Ultra Compact 1911 with night sights and all the bells and whistles. That will give me 1911's with a 3 in, 3.5 in and 4.25 in barrels. I think I have the compact 1911's covered.
Bawanna
12-20-2010, 09:55 PM
Happy for you O'Dell. You indeed have the compact 1911 arena well covered. I figured that 220 would go on the block and meant to ask what it might go for.
I want a SAS Compact 220 along with a mulititude of other things that never seems to end.

sounds like a deal. I love my Sig, but it ain't a 220....as much as I would love to have a 220, the single stack 239 fits my grubby little paw better. And, the 239 is staying. But, the compact 1911.... there's the love. I wouldn't take for my Kimber Stainless Compact...it's older than dirt, the the trit sights have reached their half life (and then some), but it just fits so well, carries so well, shoots so well... but I'm a sucker for stainless, and don't give a toot about the extra weight.
So, good on you O'Dell. You just traded a very fine handgun for another very fine choice that may just tickle your fancy a bit more. Sounds like another happy beginning in the works.

oh, and for what it's worth, everything stays in the safe (including the P239 and Kimber) or in "safe places" around the house/office, and I end up carrying either my beloved CW9 or equally beloved SP101 almost every day.

It was a CPO pistol and almost like a new gun - I paid $525 for it and that's what he gave me as a trade in. He sold me the SA for $800, so the difference was $275 + the shipping back. The P220 had the DAK trigger, and I learned over 100 rounds, I much preferred the the old DA/SA, so I don't consider it a loss. Plus, I hope to get my original P220 back sometime from the Gwinnett Cty Police Dept. Now that's a great gun.

You didn't like the DAK trigger? I never shot one but played with one and I thought it was really nice. Kind of like a Para but with second strike capability.
Thanks all you guys for the kind words and words to the big guy. My wife thinks I'm having an online affair which I suppose I am. We got a great little, well not too little group of great guys and RD2K's here.
I don't mind admitting that the first thing I wanted when I woke up from the knife attack was a laptop so I could check on you guys. Didn't happen but one of my detective buddies signed up just so he could put the word out. I think he's getting hooked here too. He has a MK and a K9 so he even fits.

That's a nice SIG, similar to the one I traded back, except for the DAK trigger which I hated. The one the police are holding hostage is a nickel plated [I like shiny things] 1996 build, German gun with the folded carbon steel slide, and of course, is SA/DA. It's about 4 oz lighter than the newer SS guns, and is a great shooter. I WANT IT BACK!!
