My love of the 1911 has been stated on many occasions, but I had to comment again on how beautiful those Desert Eagle 1911s look! See for yourselves:

There is also a "C" series listed but no pics there yet. I have to get my hands on one of these DE 1911s. Expect gratuitous picture posting when I do! :D

Gee, do you suppose that's a "G" as in Government and "C" as in Commander models? I like mine (Dad's Gun) very much but not at the level of the true disciples in that "If it were supposed to have that, John Browning would have included it!"

Of course I'll keep mine for several reasons, but don't understand why the 1911 design is considered so special by so many. I actually would prefer a full sized hammerless 45 that fits my hand better. Some day, Lotto willing, I'll get one.

I do have to say it shoots better than any other handgun I've handled. Better in that the bullets go where I want them to go. But I have only handled a few.

I appreciate the GI style 1911s as well, but find that when I shoot a bunch I want the various upgrades that are offered by many companies. Last time I got a GI style gun, I kept thinking "if only the beavertail was longer; if only it had better sights; if only the safety was larger....". :D

I want one too. Full size just like the picture. I added it to my wish list but I fear I didn't make the cut off, even though I've been relatively good this year, sorta.

Define good.

Those DE 1911's have a hell of a trigger out of the box. I have yet to do more than fondle one, but from what I've seen, if DE loses the full length guide rod, then I would be all over those. Sweet trigger right out.

I'd like to find 1 so I could fondle it. I'd like to have a full size 1911. Been looking around, not in a big hurry though.

I have been after a full size too. I have a couple, but they are more specialized guns in terms of features. Just a nice, easy to shoot gun with a basic set of upgrades. That DE looks just right. :D Of course I love a Commander too. Those are my go-to guns for CCW. They are just short enough to be easier to carry, while still being long enough to perform well.

A couple of videos to further whet the 1911 DE appetite.

And Hickock45's non scientific caliber "knockdown" study.

The swinging plate study was very good and makes me want to reconsider my 9mm. As I see it, from low impact to high, it's 9mm; 40; 45; 10mm. I would like to see the 9mm with 147gn +P as that's what I carry, but I doubt it comes close to the 45 230gn.

Anybody want to trade a PM9 for a PM45??

Dang I like that Hickok, he can sure shoot and what an awesome range he has. I'd surely like to be his neighbor, on the opposite direction that he shoots of course.

Thanks for the kind words Bawanna.
I had to be out of the good old US for awhile.
Dirty, stinkin' place..camels, outdoor privies (or sand holes), most spoke broken French and I spoke broken Southern so limited communication with the locals.

Anyway, Hickock is an interesting fella isn't he?
Think he joined the forum didn't he? Saw a PM9 video I think. I know it was a Kahr.

I was able to freeze-frame and see that the front sights are dovetailed, too... always a nice feature for upgrades.

Desert Eagle 1911 are some of the best quality 1911 you can get for the price. My only issue is that I prefer a more subdued markings. It's not a deal breaker for me but I would like to see subsequent models to have smaller font. I think if they are able to do that the model will become much more popular. I know it's the complaint I hear from other 1911 owners.

Hello everyone, I'm new to Kahr Talk, and this is my first post. Since some of you have been discussing the DE1911 recently, I thought that I'd chip in and say that I bought my 1911G in November, 2010.

I already owned several other 1911's, including those from Springfield, Kimber and S&W, and the DE compares very favorably with those, IMHO. For a $600+ street price 1911, the build quality is superb, and the gun functions flawlessly out of the box. I chose it over the Remington R1 and several of the Filipino versions due to its included features and quality of build. Accuracy is excellent, and the trigger, as has already been mentioned is vastly superior to anything else that I've seen for an "entry" level 1911.

My only minor complaint would be that the black sights are hard to pick up on indoor ranges, and I'd prefer a 3 dot arrangement. Also, the rollmark on the left side of the slide needs to be toned down, but this is really a non-issue for me.

This is a great 1911 for the price, and it far outshines any of the other offerings that I inspected before making my decision to purchase. Everyone that I've talked to who has also bought one has given it nothing but high marks.

I know this is an old thread, but I've had mine for a few months and am in 100% agreement with larryf1952 on the DE 1911, couldn't be happier. I've already changed my sights to three dot TruDot.
