Thanks to Bawanna (who made him a mod anyway) I have a big interest in Taylor guns, especially their top breaks (http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/products/cfTopBreak.tpl). Has anyone hear had any experience with any of their Firearms?

I'm also thinking a stage coach double barrel would make a better Home Defense shotgun than my 26" 870 Turkey gun...Any suggestions on those (cheaper the better - New baby on the way).

You could get a slug barrel for your 870 but I know you really want a coach gun so forget I mentioned the barrel. I got the Stoeger, they are pretty cheap and not a bad gun for what you pay. A friend at work (detective) had a guy back east someplace make me a buttstock shell holder for it that holds 6 extra shells and looks pretty much period correct.
Don't be blaming me on this Schofield kick your on either boss, I've had that desire for a long time but your the one that reignited it, so I take no responsiblity for that one.

As a side note, theres 2 "N's" in Bawanna, its a common spelling.

I have never heard about Taylor but they sure look cool...I have a .45 Long Colt Cimarron Peacemaker clone made by Uberti and it is a very well made tight gun and shoots great for having fixed sights....It was priced very good something like $425.00 or so...The U.S. Firearms guns have a great reputation but tend to be a bit pricy...Dang you Justin, Now you got me thinking about a .12 gauge double barrel again....I looked at a Stoeger Coach gun at Bass Pro Shop and it looked to be well made and those two big muzzle holes just look bad A$$!!!...I think it was about $400.00 as I remember...

Well double ding dong dang u Justin...I looked through the Taylor web site and they have some nice guns alright....Not sure if they manufacture them or re-sell other companies...The Peacemakers they have look alot like Uberti's and then I looked at that coach gun and now I got a bad case of the wants but not enough Franklins to scratch that itch....Oh well, a man's gotta have a dream...:D

just my opinion, but I would keep the 870 in service and just pick up an 18-1/2" barrel for house gun duty. Cheaper on the front side of the equation and much more versitle.

Hammers are way cool. See alot where they are just cosmetic and don't do anything but some do.
I think Taylors is a distributor sort of. Not a manufacturer. It was a long time ago when I researched them. A local dealer said he had sold them and everybody thought they were really good. They might upgrade them a bit but I honestly don't recall. I just want one.
