I've had my barrel replaced a while back by Kahr, works flawlessly.
I'm getting better all the time with it. 3 years about.
The other day I was cleaning after range time and during disassembly the barrel was being a momma puppy to come out.
It's always been smooth as could be.
So I noticed some wear and scratch marks.
Bit more than just regular wear.
Wondering if anyone has ideas.
I took pics with my phone, not so hot. So I tried a few pics to give as much info as possible.
Standard Winchester white box from Walmart. 115 gr 9mm FMJ.
Clean after every range outing and snake it weekly regardless.
Hope I can get these pics loaded right...

Other than the slide release notch in the slide showing some wear, I can't see anything unusual in your photos. The barrel looks OK to me.

agree, looks quite normal to me. anytime you have any metal to metal contact, it will show contact wear but that is normal to. alittle grease rubbed around those wear spots also helps reliability better to. I always run a finger with grease on it around my entire barrel, and on tue under side of the slide where it makes coantact witht he chamber top . Guns smoot out over time to. Just like a car engine, it needs some miles/rounds on it, before it really starts to purr..

Agree that it looks pretty good. I might look at the top of the barrel - the front edge of the squared part where it drops to the round part. In the pic it looks a bit rough but it could just be the pic.

That edge is what drags on the upper inside of the slide to tilt the barrel. I can't see enough of the slide in your attachments (pic ending in 104) to know but it doesn't look bad. I smoothed and polished both spots on mine and rub a little grease in the slide. I smoothed the sharpness out with a fingerrnail file leaving the 90* edge intact to lock the barrel to the slide. Just doing that made the slide much smoother.

Otherwise, anyplace you see a burr, just smooth it off without changing the underlying shape and you'll be fine.

old lincoln, glad you said that, some people get tired of me saying just shoot it like u stole it. To many worry about alittle burr here and there or a scratch. Some maybe are bad but most are just nothing to worry about IMO. These are tools ... and damn good ones at that.

New barrel, huh? That's what I need,...yeah,...I need a custom barrel,...one that curves just slightly to the right, and just slightly up,..just a tiny bit, then I'll be dead on them targets. http://kahrtalk.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Went to the range today, and am still hitting low and left,..just a little. Had the cw9 for a couple of months,....still getting used to the loonngg trigger pull, but I'll get it, sooner or later. Today was from about 10 -12 yds. At about 5 yds I do pretty good, in center, and 9 ring.

Yeah they're just tools, Jocko, like Harley is just a motorcycle and BMW is just a car. They run smooth when all the parts have mated up just right, but that's a process that can be helped along.

Not a big deal, but I encourage folks to get to know their Kahr better by figuring out how the parts all work together, what locked breach means on their gun, notice the trigger mechanism and how it rotates the locking & cocking cams, and discover and polish the wear points.

When I started I told everybody here I'm not a gun guy and just wanted a gun that will shoot which was true. As I got answers I'd break mine down and see what made it tick to understand why it was made this way. I still do that with others questions to see if mine looks/acts the same way.

I didn't intend for it to happen, but have grown quite fond of my Kahr and appreciate the thought that went into it. A few things I would have done differently, but I can say that about the 1911 also which is heresy on their forum.

I'd love to get my hands on a few new Kahrs to smooth them out and break them in.

OL, don't you be dissin my 1911's. You know they is perfic just outa tha box. That's why there are so many after market parts and upgrades - RIGHT? Just kidding about the 1911, but seriously what would you have changed about the Kahr? I'm really curious.
