Today I was lucky enought to be carrying my 1995ish vintage K9 when I found a "used" but like new P9 for sale at one of my favorite little gun shops. Well after a little chat with the owner I walked out of the shop carrying the P9. It has a blackened stainless slide which is a major upgrade from the K9 which would rust almost instantly when in contact with any humidity. Not sure how new the P9 is but the manual that was in the box was printed in 2008 so I figure it can't be too old. Anyway just wanted to share. Love these little guns.....

I loved my black P9 w/ns....NIB it cost me ~$790 out the door. I mention that because I loved the pistol so much that all I did was worry myself sick about carrying such and expensive and beautiful gun(stupid..no ) I had to sell it...That's past history....Moving on, I recently found a great deal ($399) on a 2004 black K9, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have this one a looooong time ;)

Enjoy yours

go to the kahr tech section and hit on kahr serial numbers and get very close to the birth date of your P9, if ur interested. That is really one fine gun and the dlc finish is awesome and just makes the gun look "bad" to..

I took my black P9 to the range today for a 100 rounds parts test. The P9 is a very nice carry. If you liked the K9, the P9 will be a joy, just a little lighter joy. Your K9 holster may be a little tight if it's leather, but will also allow you to carry your new gun after a short adjustment and stretch.

I put some new springs in, 22# recoil and a new striker spring. Both worked well with the +P ammo I ran through the gun. My P9 is an older gun, 2001, that I found on another forum. As you can see, I like the rubber grip sleeves in my poly Kahrs. They seem to make the grip "just right" for my hand.

Enjoy your "new" P9

I don't think I did too bad. I gave $575 for the P9 and he gave me $350 for my K9. That was not too much less than I paid for the K9 when I got it which was $425 so I did not feel bad at all.
Like I said the P9 could have passed as new so I feel like I got a good deal. Plus going from the non-stainless to a stainless gun was worth it to me cause it used to curl my skin when I'd forget to put the oily rag to the K9 and rusty fingerprints would appear. It is my main carry gun so I don't mind at all carrying it and the lighter weight is SOOOO nice=)
Thanks for the advice I will look to see when it was made. The K9 had a AExxxx s/n and the P9 has a EAxxxxx s/n.

I liked carrying the K9.. but I already like carrying the P9 better=).

It slid right into my K9 leather IWB holster no problems.

I even had an extra mag at home that fits perfect.

I had an open box of ammo so I put about 40 rounds through it when I got home. I don't think it is any less managble than the K9 despite the lighter weight.
I have Hornady hollow points in it now.

P9 is just one hell of a handgun, not to big, certainly not to small, loaded with all of kahrs bells and whistles, not cheap , but neither is life..

However... the vibrant used market is an excellent way to minimize the pain. My slightly used '01 P9 with night sights was only $475, and it came with a bag full of magazines. Quality made guns can be a great bargain if one is willing to try a "Previously Owned" Kahr.

+1 on the used market being good hunting grounds for nice, high quality weapons. You did good on that trade for the P9. Happy shooting. :)

Congratulations on the new P9. I assume that my CW9 is a close copy of the P9. Shoot safe and enjoy your pistol. I would really like that black slide. It would be nice to have one of each!

I have a Hogue grip on mine and noticed a photo that showed a Pachmayr grip. Does this grip stay in place? My Hogue model moves on the grip when I fire several magazines! I wish it would stay put.

Kahr pistols are fabulous!

I much prefer to find good used guns opposed to buying new off the rack. Usually a handgun like this has been carried more than shot and this one in particular I would have not known the difference if the shop owner told me it was new....

The Pachmayr grip is a bit tighter and yes it stays in place better than the Hogue Handall. I use both brands in various sizes. I find the Pachmayr grip a bit harder to put on though, which is logical.

I'm of a like mind. Most of my collection was purchased used. I've been burned only once, with a turd of a gun, but the others have been anywhere from the normal good deal to the unbelievable, (Thank you God!), fantastic deal.

Thanks Ripley16 - I have never been into the used gun market. However as I read about Kahr pistols it makes sense to me that as well made as the Kahr line is when one comes up for sell it would be a bargain.

This is only a guess but I think either you are crazy about the pistol or you think this is not going to work for me. So the pistol may have less that 2 or 3 hundred rounds down range. Nicely broke in and ready for the new owner. I am saving up and looking!

Yup loving the new P9. Hard to even tell I am carrying it compared to the K9. I hope to put another 50 rounds through it if I get home before dark. I would expect that the 200 round break in has been done but I'd like to get that many through it myself since it is my daily carry gun.

Ripley16....Can you confirm that is Pachmayr's Size No. 4? Thanks

Yes, #4. The box was marked at $8.50, wherever it was that I bought it.

Thanks Ripley16

Does anyone use the Pearce grip extension on their P9/CW9?
