Hey guys, I'm new to Kahr's and this forum but just had to let you know this! Ordered a new PM40 last week and picked it up on Tuesday (1/4/11). Thanks to the advice on this forum, I knew how to "prep" it: I cleaned it (good!), lubed it, and tried racking the slide several times. (I didn't get anywhere near 500 times! More like 50 - wow, this thing's tight!). Yesterday, I finally had an evening free - and couldn't wait to shoot this gun! Didn't get off work till 5:15 so it was already getting dark. Took a 50-box of Federal (from Wally World) and only had time to shoot the 50 before it got too dark. Shot those 50 (alternating with both mags - the flush and extended) - result? NO PROBLEMS AT ALL! After about 10 of these, I figured I'd start checking the aim. Saw an old drink can on the ground and figured I'd try and pop it a few times. Again: WOW! I quickly realized that this thing aims well too (mine is the base model; uses the "dot the i" sights). After the 50, I stuck in an extra mag which was filled with Remington Golden Sabre - again, no issues! All 5 of them fired flawlessly! If this little piece will keep this up I'm gonna be one happy camper! (BTW: I have a Glock 27 too, if needed - but, obviously, this is significantly smaller! In fact, other than the width, it's almost the size of my LCP!) One more thing: the recoil isn't bad at all! In fact, I like it! And I especially like the fact that, in this small package, I'm toting a 40 caliber -it will certainly take care of business if ever needed! Thanks, guys, for all your help! I really appreciate it! I know I've only shot 50 (plus 5), but so far so good!
:cheer2:

drgad, Welcome! Glad your introduction to the PM40 was good. I had the same intro and the same conclusion...the PM40 shoots nice and is comfortable to shoot. You will like it more and more. You will also experience feedback that the PM40 is not pleasant to shoot. Just try to ignore them and laugh. I often chime in by making fun of myself/gun and say things like I wore out a pair of kevlar welding gloves and helmet shooting it...stuff like that. You need to be able to laugh with the crowd. It is all in fun on this forum, but you will find that there are many who prefer lesser calibers because they are more comfy to shoot. You picked a good, substantial, reliable caliber and handgun. It will serve you well. Enjoy it. But be prepared to laugh with the crowd.

Also, I recommend that you look at the Crimson Trace Laser sight. They offer a free DVD, free batteries for life. Great dry fire tool. Great accessory. Also look at Agrips. They help the PM40 to feel even better in the hand. Night sights are wonderful feature, but with the CTL, nightsights are not essential.

drgad sounds like an MRI radiologist title...I am in the diagnostic field myself.

Good to hear from a pro PM40'er

I figured this would be a good place to ask this question since alot of .40 lovers are in here.
I just sold my SA XD SC .40 as i couldnt stand the muzzle flip recoil.
In all honesty it took me 2x as long to get a repeat shot off compared to my 1911's in .45acp

Im a rather large and decently strong guy and even with practice i never felt comfortable carrying that gun as i couldn't employ it effectively.

So how does the PM40 compare to shooting the XD SC .40?
This is the first caliber ive found i cant shoot well, And that includes the 10mm in a G20 which i loved shooting full power loads as much as i could afford. But the .40 has always been my weak spot ive never overcome.
