I find my Crimson Trace laser guard on my PM9 shifts itself around a bit.

I can zero it perfectly, and after a bit of time in my pocket, it is off by 6 inches from 10 feet away.

Is anybody else seeing this?

I have not seen this. .The CTL on my PM40 is installed OVER the Agrip material, which serves to hold the laser in place tighter. I always check zero on mine simply by comparing it to my sight alaignment at 10 - 15 yards. I do this every day when I do 5 minutes of dry fire practice. The laser dot sits on top of the front sight and I immediately know it is zero. I pocket carry everyday in front or rear. I even sit on it, which is contrary to good common sense. But I have done it so much and checked it so often, that I am confident in it.

6" at 10' is ALOT and is unacceptable shift. I am guessing that it is not securely tightened. I suggest that you check to make certain your CTL guard is on good and tight. If you can physically move it left to right by hand, it is not on the trigger guard good and tight. It should stay lined up with your iron sights at all times. A remedy would be to try some agrips to see if it is enough to help secure the CTL. Just a suggestion. If that does not work, contact Crimson Trace and get their input. Good luck.

I could understand how pocket carry might produce different results than in a holster on your side. Having never shot a Ct on any kahr especially a pocket kahr, I am just guessign here to. I would not like that if that is the case, 6" at ten feet along with my normal pi-s poor shooting might hit someone else...

I had the CT on my Smith model 342 but it was the rubber built in grip Ct and it worked super. I loved that CT on that little 38 pocket rocket. I actually could hit somethng with it at 25 feet. I felt like I had epilepsy when I put that dot on something though.

The CTL should not be moving at all, regardless of how the gun is carried. The CTL fits so securely when tightened properly that I have never had to adjust zero on mine. Perhaps my agrip material is serving another good purpose by keeping the CTL securely in place. I don't know for certain, but my CTL does not move even when pocket carried daily. The CTL is a secure and consistently accurate, little, light weight tool. I have found NO negative feature about it so far. Obviously the problem described is due to the CTL not being securely tightened.

Pocket carry alone should not substantially alter the zero. The Crimson Trace unit has brass bushings so the screws can be tightened securely to prevent the unit from shifting on the trigger guard. Regardless of whether or not this is the ussue, I suggest that you call their Customer Service. Crimson Trace is an excellent product and company, and they'll help you solve it.

What robmcd said. Call Crimson Trace for helpful advice. P.S. I have had no issues with losing zero on my PM9 and have pocket carried every day for the last few months (except when driving through one of our communistic states of the union).

I recently called CT customer service because my batteries seemed to be draining too quickly, though I was doing 5-10 min. dry fire a night. They couldn't have been better to deal with, immediately shipped me out a new set and a pre-paid mailer to send my original in. Not sure if it was a problem with my CT unit or if I'm just a bit trigger happy with the new toy, but customer service couldn't have been better. I'd suggest you call. If you're crankin' it down tight, you shouldn't be getting that much drift.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. I have a grip on a 1911 and really like it. I like it on the PM9 too, other than losing zero. The other thing I notice is the laser guard gets soot on it and the laser on the top of the grip stays cleaner for much longer. That's no big deal, but it is noticeable after a bunch of rounds at the range. Easily remedied when cleaning the pistol with the cleaning swabs that come with the CT guard.

I do have it tight. I'm amazed those tiny screws hold so well. Thanks for the input. I'll let you know the fix when I figure it out.

Yea, the trigger guard mounted CTL does get soot on it after shooting about 100-200 rounds, which is expected with it being so close to the muzzle. However, it is easily cleaned during normal cun cleaning and not seen as a big deal. Crimson Trace seem like they are very responsive, although the only thing I dealt with them on was warranty registration and getting a new set of batteries. I have always seemed to be able to speak with someone and they seem to be very responsive with good follow through. Good luck.

I have never delt with CT Customer service but am very pleased with their product. I have the trigger gaurd mounted laser on my CW9.

It seems to stay on zero very nicely for me.

I have had a LG 437 since...ummm..January or February 2010.

Mine does not lose zero at all in a pocket holster, and I carry it all the time...well, just about all the time. ;)

The only issue I have is the red dot will shift left within the first 25 rounds at each and every shooting session (hitting 3 " right at 25 feet). I tighten, and it will generally stay put for the next 100 to 200 rounds. I go home, clean, and then carry for another month. The when I go back to the range, the same thing happens; the red dot shifts left within the first 25 rounds. I stop and tighten.

I have the dot aligned my my sights, and it hits dead-on--as long as I don't jerk the trigger.

The bottom adjustment screw (up/down) seems way down in the hole while the side screw (left/right) is just flush with the side of the guard.

I've had these on my LCP and PF9 for about a year and they've never lost zero. The LCP was mostly pocket carried but the PF9 is IWB holster carried.

I did have a problem with the laser on the PF9 intermittently not coming on and a very brief call to their CS cured that with them sending me a new laser immediately (sent original back to them at their expense).

These are great and their CS is excellent. You wont be let down.

I have CTL on my PM9 I do not pocket carry but is does not lose its zero, with over 2500 rounds later it is still dead on at 25 ft. I did have a similar issue with the CTL LG-305 grip for my wife's S&W 642 J frame. I could zero it and the next time we went to the range it would be off, I contacted CT customer service and I have shipped it back 3 days ago to be repaired or replaced it will e interesting to see how they handle this issue.

Alfonse,

Please contact CTC customer service (1-800-442-2406) and get this taken care of. Your grip should maintain zero and if it doesn't it will be replaced. Mention my name (Dan) when calling in.

Thanks
Dan

I hate calling customer service when I can't describe how to recreate the problem. After resetting zero each of the last two months when shooting, I can't get it to move playing with it this weekend. I did tighten the screws last time I tweaked everything.

Based on messing around with seeing if I could get it to shift this weekend, maybe the screws were not tight enough. They are sure tiny screws that I thought were as tight as I dared, but I did twist them a bit tighter last month and I can't get it to shift this weekend.

When I first installed it, I was impressed it didn't move even when I had it bouncing off a plastic rest at the range, so I guess I'll call it operator error at this point.

Alfonse, I was also concerned about the little tiny screws, but after tightening them down good and secure, they seem to do the job well. I hope they work long term. So far, so good.

BTW, love the Crimson Trace products. Workmanship is superb. I have grips on my 1911, as well as the guard on my PM9. If you're from Crimson Trace, keep up the good work!

No, I'm not from Crimson Trace. This is the first time I've tried their product and I like it more and more.

I have a CT on my PM9, Keltec P9F and a Keltec P3AT. I've never had any issues with any of the pistol/laser combinations in any way shape or form.

The Keltecs are the pistols that prove how tough the CT's are to me as they definitely have some recoil when fired, and I've never had to readjust any of them. I carry both of the Keltecs in Nemesis pocket holsters and they've always held their zero-after many, many rounds.

Like anything made by man, there are good ones and there are lemons. Like you, I've had excellent luck with the CTL, but some folks have had various issues. Like anything, we just need to use the warranties and look for the call backs. The CTL is normally an excellent product and I believe they stand behind their products.
