supertuck vs. silent thunder slim - anyone familiar with both?

I'm a new pm9 owner, and am trying to get my iwb holster purchase right the first time. Both of these holsters appear to be well liked, but having never seen either one in person, I was hoping someone could give me advice on which holster is right for my needs. I'm a very thin guy, and I don't wear baggy clothing, so at first glance, the single offset clip design of the silent thunder slim seems like it might conceal better for me. I also like the leather lined kydex. Anyone have any thoughts? I'm also undecided on the best clip choice. I often will be tucking in my shirt.

Don't have those. I carry my PM9 in a $10 Blackhawk nylon pocket stuffer holster. See photo.

That said. I have this ACE IWB $10 holster. It is tuckable. Your shirt will tuck right inside the flap.

Out of the two, I prefer pocket carry. The Pm9 is just small enough to pocket carry. But some perfer the IWB option.

All I can say is I have worn this ACE IWB around some and went back to pocket carry. IWB is somewhat uncomfortable standing up and walking around. Now sitting down in a car, it is horrible and digs in my side hip. I have tried this IWB in various positions and on the opposite hip. Not very comfy. One other thing I figured out. I could not wear a IWB holster in my current pants size. I had to buy a pair of paints a size up (from 34 to 36) to even get the thing in "there" and be able to zip and button the pants. With my current pants size, the fit was just too tight to button my pants.

Maybe the $80 and $100+ IWB are better and feel more comfortable. I don't know. But I am glad I just paid $10 + shipping to try it out and see.

I may be able to offer some limited advice. I have both holsters, not for the same gun, and not for a pm9 but I'll give my thoughts. My supertuck is for a Sig Pro which has a 3.9" barrel, and the silent thunder is for a K40 (which I haven't received yet). Therefore, I haven't carried the silent thunder with weapon but I have wore it around the house empty just to see how it fit, how comfortable, and where it worked best at. I wear a size 32" waist and with the supertuck I carry around the 3:30 position. The silent thunder feels best around 4:30. One thing with the silent thunder was with the slim model, the belt attachment clip was in line with the rest of the holster (will post pic) and that made it kinda hard to clip into my pants and pushed my pants out. So what I did was heat up the part of kydex where the clip attaches and bent it around some, that way the holster and clip are in more of a curve shape rather than a straight line and it is much more comfortable now. Actually, not sure why they don't make it that way. My silent thunder is also a custom version. First customization by my boxer, second customization by me, a hacksaw, and a dremel. He chewed up the portion that keeps the rear of the gun off your skin. Now that part is gone on mine. Not sure how that will affect carry for me as stated I don't have the gun yet, but I think it will be okay. In fact, I think tucker offers 2 versions, one with and without the guard. Here are a few pics.

Looking at this last photo shows how I bent the part of kydex where the clip attaches. You can see how it looks more natural to the waist. I didn't take a before picture, but the clip was straight with the holster. A testament to the quality of the silent thunder is that even after the dog chewed on it and I cut it with a hacksaw, then smoothed it with a dremel the leather never tried to separate from the kydex. Not sure what kind of glue or adhesive they use to attach the leather, but it is apparently pretty strong.

Now my thoughts on carrying the two. I would give the comfort nod to the supertuck. The silent thunder is not uncomfortable, but with it you have a block of an object against your body whereas with the supertuck you have a conformed piece of leather riding against you. Quality is close, but the silent thunder seems to be a little better made but it hasn't tested time or actual gun carry yet. The clips on the supertuck go on and off easier than the clip on the silent thunder, but I don't see the clips of either holster letting loose without intention. I can't comment on the retention of the silent thunder, but with the supertuck I did heat up the area of the trigger guard and push it in some to offer a little more retention. It seems just right now. Easy modification to personal preference so I wouldn't count that for or against it.

My thoughts to you. If you have a job or profession where you can put the holster on and carry all day no matter what you are doing, I would say go with the supertuck as it offers more comfort for all day carry.

If say you have to leave your piece in the car sometimes, or may take it on and off a couple times a day I would say go with the silent thunder as it is much easier to put on. The supertuck actually requires me to undo my belt and unbutton my pants to get it into place, where the silent thunder I can pull out on my waistband and push it down in there, then clip it over the belt.

Sorry this turned into a short narrative, but I don't think you will go wrong with either one. I think it will come down to personal preference.

MiniTuck is a better choice (over the SuperTuck) for the PM9 in my opinion. (I use a SuperTuck for my G23) The Super is great for midsized and larger handguns but is more than you need for a mini or compact. I don't like pocket carry but that is my personal preference. I don't have anything against the Silent Thunder but I don't quite see the need for leather-lined kydex.

Received my CB MiniTuck last night. Carried it empty to work with a sweatshirt over it to start the break in process (State I live in doesn't allow CCW...yet). Unless I stopped to think about it, I didn't realize it was there. When I got home I put the MK9 into it with a loaded clip. Still very comfortable and pulls that MK really tight to my body. So far I'm really impressed. Carl

I have had both and prefer the Galco Ultra Deep Cover, the others for me are to thick. Of the two you mention I preferred the Crossbreed.
