I have, among my Kahr collection, an electroless nickel model K9 which I bought new years ago. Currenly, this one sits in the safe as my usual carry is a stainless 9093. Can anyone tell me why Kahr stopped making the nickel model...was it due to cost or perhaps problems with this particular finish?

Not sure about this but I think the EPA clamped down on the electroless nickel plating process as it is a pretty nasty business and with the advent of CNC machining equipment it made working with stainless much cheaper and easier for the gun manufacturers so they got away from nickel plating...

I'm sure arsenic is used in the chrome plating process, and a lot of small plating shops really got pinched in the 80's over environmental concerns. Is the same stuff used in electroless nickel plating?
The possibility of the EPA garbage throwing a wrench into the gears sounds likely to me.

But... Kahr nickle plates parts now. Why not the slide? Maybe too much cost for a small market, along with the decision to drop the carbon steel slide and go all stainless instead.

there may be a difference between "electroless plating" (chemical) and modern electro plating ... just a SWAG :D
