Picked up my used gunbroker K40 today and went straight to the range for some shooting. I looked over the gun then shot one mag to make sure everything was working correctly. All went well so I then field stripped it to inspect things (very clean) and went ahead and cleaned and lubed everything anyway. Then proceeded to shoot 100 ball ammo and about 30 hollowpoints and everything fed and ejected perfectly. Brought it home and field stripped again. The barrel and chamber had some discoloration so I went and head and polished it down some, not to a mirror finish but a clean uniform sheen. Well here are a few pics I snapped today with my cell phone.

Here is how the barrel was before polishing (picture actually makes it look a little worse than it was).

I found this pretty surprising, the footprint of the K40 is very similar to my airweight. I don't plan on attempting to pocket carry the K40 but it was very surprising to see.

You are so in.... "Men of Steel"...

Glad to hear its a shooter and from the looks of the target, seems to be a natural fit for you right off the bat.

May I ask what kind of phone took those pics? An iPhone 4? Very good pics for a phone.

My gunbroker K9 should arrive this week, and I'm about to pee in my pants in anticipation.

Samsung flipshot, next month will make 3 years I've had it. It has a 3.0 mp camera and I hate to "upgrade" to a lesser quality.

Nice! I had a Sony Ericsson phone with a fantastic camera and "downgraded" to an iPhone3. Everything is way better except the camera, but the iPhone4's camera is great.

Mine's stainless. I'll need it for the Florida humidity, plus it looks awesome.

Naah scratch that, it's ok to look just don't touch anything, you don't know where it's been.

The skinny low-down on my Taurus PT709 Slim
I carried a PT709 for almost a year, it was fine until @ around the 600 round mark it started to FTE on every mag..So I sent it to be repaired when I got it back the FTE's were repaired but it soon developed very frequent light strikes(on ammo it ran fine in the past) That was it....I lost confidence in the 709, also its sights were cheap and need to be glued and the spine on the the slide had a chip out of it ...I sent it back once again for repair and sold it promptly on return...in fact, the 709 made me swear off inexpensive and low quality guns for life...no more giving up quality to save a dime. I replaced it with the Kahr K9 and will never look back.
That said, I've had a few Taurusi in my life..(don't tell Bawana ;) )
An M66 .357mag...which also developed issues. A very sweet PT92 Combat and a PT845 which I only owned for a few weeks, bought and sold off..I no likey its feely. Plus I wanted a real .45 Sig P220 :)

Bawanna got no problem with Taurus. They are greatly improved from the early days for sure.

If it goes bang I like it, if it looks cool, I like it better. If it shoots fat 45 bullets it's a winner.

I guess Taurus has to have forum members too? Probably not room for everyone here but we can sure try.

Thanks pain for the words of wisdom on the Taurus. I have read around a little on the taurus forum but not a lot. My wife wants a 9mm with a thumb safety and is trying to do her own research on them.

That was probably my best group from today shot at 50 yards, i'd say the sticker is about 1" diameter.

I got that exact very same rifle for Christmas. I gotta get a more worthy scope for mine and I'm sad to admit I haven't fired mine yet but I hope to this weekend even if only 25 yards indoors.

It's really a sweet rifle, very well put together. Been wanting to try the accu trigger and I think I'm gonna like it alot.

Appears your is a shooter too. I'm hoping mine is accurate enough to make up for my poor shooting capabilities.

I would consider myself a novice rifle shooter and don't have much experience behind a scope. I got that BSA scope from Sportsmans Guide at a member price of $44, BSA's website lists it for $149. I took the stock off today to lighten the accutrigger pull only to find out it comes from the factory at the lowest pull. Over on rimfire central they say it takes around 200 rounds for the barrel to get broke in. Like I said i'm new to the whole game but hopefully the accuracy only gets better. I tried 4 different kinds of ammo today, but I don't know if i'm consistent enough yet to really tell what the gun likes best.

Also went and shot some today. Here's 3 seven round mags I shot leaning on my truck from about 5 yds (the scattered small holes are from rifle shooting).

Sure do, I have horsehide for my sig also. As soon as I pulled it out of the bag I noticed the leather is almost twice as thick as my supertuck. I need to get a pic of them side by side.

Famous last words. Somehow, the LGS who was to receive it kept dropping the ball. I changed stores, they contacted the sending FFL within minutes and it should be on its way Tuesday (since Monday is a holiday).

I wonder wy my K9 never looks as good as u guys photos". IMO the k series kahr are the most awesome looking on the market and the all black dlc finish has to rang amoung the top 2 on my list of own someday. You don't carry your k9 because you always pocket carry, and you have the ultimate pocket carry pistol, the pm9. If you decide you want to carry IWB one day, you have the ultimate IWB kahr just sitting there waiting on you. I think the K series is perfect for IWB carry. The added weight isn't an ussue over the polys because its IWB, the stainless is smooth, the rubber grips feel nice and the grip length is just perfect for grabbing from IWB.

You're not helping me. It is a well known fact that the K40 is a dream gun of mine, I have the itch, and my funds are about to open up again. I tried to buy Bawanna's before he ported it, but couldn't scrape the cash. I will own one.

I'm working on it. I need to get more funds together, a decent price, and find one around here. I may try a new FFL dealer in the coming months, and do an online order if I can find a decent price.

I saw where you mentioned that in another thread. That's great she found something. I was laid off at the end of last July and haven't had steady work since then. I did have my 2nd interview at a company this past friday. An hour after the interview they called and offered me the job WOOHOO I start the 2nd or 3rd week next month.

Sounds like you may need to decide on a suitable present for yourself. ;) What industry, if I might ask?

BTW, I like the Mini tuck pics. I ordered a Supertuck Deluxe but am wondering if it would be "overkill" for my CW45 or K40...I'm relatively thin, so I wonder if I should have ordered a Mini Tuck.

eastenn
02-21-2011, 10:22 AM
As for a suitable present, I want something I can take out on the water without worry of damage if it got wet. I have my eye on a stainless Ruger GP100 .357 with 3" barrel.

The job is with a chemical company that produces chemicals, fibers, and polymers. They have over 10,000 employees worldwide and their main processing plant is 25 min. from my house. I got a job in their polymers division.

I think the supertuck will be just fine for you. I have a supertuck for a full size sig and the 2 holsters aren't really that much difference in size.

jlottmc
02-21-2011, 10:44 AM
You'll love the GP-100, I have the four inch and yes it's big, yes it's heavy, but if it ain't fun to shoot...

eastenn
02-21-2011, 10:53 AM
I wouldn't mind the 4" barrel but it looks like the 3" is the only one they make with fixed sights, which is what I want for this kind of gun.

jlottmc
02-21-2011, 12:06 PM
My adjustables are rock solid. I use mine when I go to the field and as a CCW, I had the base pin that holds my rear sight in place walk out on me, easy fix that. The sights themselves have not moved. Plus I can adjust for a particular load, but I haven't had to.
