I have an older K9, serial no. AD1***. It is a great handling and shooting pistol. I just can't tell if the gun is blackened stainless steel or if it is blued. It has a flat finish; not glossy at all. I do know the gun dates from Aug 1995. Any help is appreciated.

It's blued carbon steel. The stainless K's came out a few years later.

I'm not sure of the dates and stuff but it could also be a Birdsong finish rather than traditional blueing. It's a very good quality and tough finish too.
I know some of the early Kahrs got the Birdsong treatment or so I've been told anyhow.

aObiwan is correct. It is a blued carbon steel K9. Nice gun, just gotta take alittle more tlc with the finish over stainless, but it should go bang every time..

Don't the blackened stainless versions say stainless on the side?

dlc finisheed PM9 didn't . My P380 doesn't say it. I am going to assume kahr doesn't stamp stainless on the slides.
