Just tried a cleaning technique shown in a Bill Wilson DVD. Went to store and purchased COOPER pan scrubbers, two in package. Took one apart--unroll-- cut off a strip about 1 inch buy the length of the unrolled pad. Wrapped it around a 30 cal. cleaning brush. When this is twisted and run through the bore of 40 and 45 cal. barrels ---dry--- lead falls out after each stroke. Really works.

Thanks Earle. Every copper scrubber I have seen was copper plated steel (I checked them with a magnet) and really didn't want to send them up the bore.

Crack heads use it in there pipes, choir boy is the brand I think crack heads prefer.
Sold in stores in those type 'hoods.

Not where I get mine though.
The dollar store stuff is plated steel as 100 found out.

just more useless info from a reloading forum geezer/lurker building up his thread count.
just sayin'

Here's a product made specifically for cleaning bores. A softer alloy than the barrel so it won't harm the metal.

+100 on the copper scrub pads. Had just a bit of lead in my CW9 bbl after shooting on Thursday. Took about 7 or 8 back and forths to clean all of the lead out.
