Last night I was loading up some .45 acp and I had a mixed bunch of brass from Speer, Federal, Remington, and Winchester....I had never noticed it before but the Speer and Federal had larger flash holes then the Remington and Winchester by about .010" I got to thinking, does this have any effect on velocity (don't own a cronograph yet but want one) and accuracy of a given round when using the same priners, in my case Winchester large pistol and what would happen if I used a tiny drill bit to make the smaller flash holes match the larger ones, more consistant rounds maybe?...What do you more experienced loaders think about this....Thanks

I noticed the same thing but they all seem to shoot the same for me.

One of the very first lessons when I was learning was to never mess with a primer hole. Clean it uniform it but otherwise don't mess with it.
Like Old Lincoln said I've never experienced any difference.
The web at the base of the cartridge can vary just a bit and it could be there's not as much brass around that hole so it's smaller, thats just a guess.
All this being said if you made one the same and still have brass all around I don't see where it would harm anything. I doubt you'd see any significant improvement in anything so hardly worth the effort in my own opinion.
A varmint rifle or long range match rifle would be a different story all together.
