Traded my Taurus 709 this weekend (had it for a year and couldn't hit anything), for this great looking Kahr CW9! Hoping to get to the range tomorrow night to begin its break in period. Love the feel and look and I have already given it its first cleaning.

Anyone who has experience with this pistol, please feel free to chime in on what to expect with it. Thanks in advance and I do plan on it being my EDC.

welcome aboard. you might want to visit the kahr tech secion and hit on two super duper threads. #1 Kahr lube chart. it is a dandy. #2 Propper prepping of your new kahr. also a dandy that can save u some break in time and make that first rip enjoyable.

That cw is just one hell of a gun but kahr triggers are loooooong but totallysmooth, so start close and take your time as if your looking for one hole groups. IMO you bought the wrong gun for that. They are shooters but it takes time and rounds down range to get used to the only safety on this gun and thatis lahrs looooong trigger system

give us a report after your outting. Start with fmj ammo, for break in also. do't waste good money on defense stuff until thegun is running right..

Excellent move krmgator.....
I gave up my PT709(it broke one too many times) for a Kahr and couldn't be happier.

What to expect.....Many years of good shooting from a pistol that gets better the more you use it. Easy carry and the best trigger in the business....

And don't worry, we are all here for you with helpful friendly advice on picking your next Kahr. :biggrin1:

I actually really love the trigger. It may be long but it's incredibly smooth. The trick is to relax the muscles on your index finder that control the last joint and let the movement come from your first joint. That way, you'll always be pulling straight back. Just do the dime-on-the-front-sight drill with that and you'll be golden.

Forgot to welcome you yesterday. WELCOME.

You are the second so far this week that got rid of a 709 because of "aiming" problems. ;)

I have the CW9 and yes the trigger pull is very loooong. But actually I think it makes me a better shooter. I no longer anticipate the bang. Instead I concentrate on good form, and when it fires, it fires.

It is smooth, and an accurate shooter if you have good technique. It's a great carry gun. I love mine!

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum from central Ohio! I alternate carry between a Taurus 740 slim and a Kahr CW45. The 740's don't seem to be plagued with the problems being found in the 709's. I really like the CW45 and have had no problems what-so-ever with it. I don't mind a long trigger on a carry gun and Kahr has to be the smoothest on the market. As Jocko said, check out the threads he listed then take it out and shoot the heck out of it, it will get better with every round you feed it.:D

Welcome to Kahr Talk a great forum with great members. I’m also new to this forum and new to Kahr pistols. I have a CW40 and PM9 and you can expect a very reliable, with a surprisingly low recoil shooting experience. I’ve been told and found true that with a Kahr you can expect a 9mm to recoil like a 380, a 40 S&W like a 9mm, you get the idea. I love the way Kahr pistols feel when I carry them in my IWB holster, you can‘t. Oh ya, you can expect to catch the dreaded Kahr-itis, the symptoms are once you have one you have to have another. But don’t fear we will be hear for you.
