You have to really like guns to make it all the way through this pictorial review of the 2011 Shot Show (http://ezine.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=70).

I worked at the Local Gander Mtn. when it opened and the "gunsmith", fresh out of some gunsmith school, came to work his third day sporting a full back tatoo of a 1911 and some catch phrase about it.
I'm sorry, but don't quite get that.
He second week, he came to work in a new mustang, and by the 4 week, he was gone.
He wasn't local, and I suspect got homesick or was fired, never did find out.
I asked to use his bench vise once, and he said I wasn't qualified.
I mounted a LOT of scopes after he left though, but never touched the machinery or would have been expected to do that too.
That was an eye opening job experience, from that side of the counter.
I saw a LOT of 1911s come in looking for someone to work on and many have made a good living tweeking 1911s, but I don't see the reason for the dedication to them.
just sayin'

Everyone should own at least one 1911, but be warned, they seem to multiply while you aren't looking. Once you have shot a really well made one, you'll never be satisfied with anything else.
A hundred years old and still one of the most popular pistols on the market, how many other guns can say that?

I want a Colt, just so I can say I have a Colt 1911, and I really like my little Springfield Micro Compact GI.45. Beyond that, I don't buy guns as art.

kinda makes one wonder why any company today would want to enter the 1911 market. Competition has to be tremendous..

That's why I think the Kahr T45 is a pipe dream, as it comes with a built in "tiny" market share.

I had a Clot1911 for 3 weeks and traded it before I shot it, as the guy who talked me into buying it started the "now you have have this and this...done to it.
I know if it shot basket ball size groups I would have sold it anyway.
Drove by "The Dome" every day going to work, even worked there, briefly, and even have a copy of Armsmore, the history of Clot, or whatever it's called.

Nice shots. Too bad he missed the Auto-Ordnance custom 1911. Whereas Kahr/Auto-Ordnance/Magnum Research are all one company now, He was close to it In the Magnum Research booth but appraently did not see it. It is one of my favorites!
