I was at a local gun shop, and one of the employees had a polymer pistol that he had stippled. The results looked pretty nice, and it felt great...not too aggressive, but definitely grippy.....so I had him do my PM9. I had him stipple all the way around the grip, under the trigger guard, the left side of the frame (Where my weak hand thumb rests), and the front of the magazine extension. He also stippled the Kahr "K" on the right front of the frame, which is a perfect place to rest my trigger finger.
It came out GREAT. Nice and grippy, but not too abrasive.

+1 on what Jocko said. Having done several Glock grip reductions; I can say that the stippling is hard to to turn out neat and crisp.

I'm wondering what they did to the original rough surface? Filled it or ground it off? Theres no sign that he stippled over or compensated for the original rough surface.
Looks good and be it feels good too.

I was wondering about that also as ive read about so many comments on the aggressive grips can be painful for some shooters. But i see no evidence of it ever being there, +1 for doing that as im sure it would have never looked as clean and uniform like it does now.

The factory checkering irritated my hand, particularly after long shooting sessions.
The guy who did it ended up having to remove the checkering on the front strap and main spring housing before he could stipple it.....he could not have gotten it so even without removing the checkering. I don't think he removed any material off the side panels though.
The stippling is nice.....it doesn't irritate my hands, but definitely allows for a really secure grip on the gun.

That is a fantastic job. I'm just worried that if I ever gave over my PM9 for work like that, that it wouldn't turn out so nice. Yes I am a worrier. :spider:

accurate iron .com did mine and Mike Cwyrus is one of the best. He is fast, he is reasonable and he is a shooter and a leo. I havene't seen a bad stip0plying job on any gun, all seem to be alittle different to. Itis a personal touch to your gun, bu also it is functional.
Would I want to do mine???NO way, I just feel going into the job that I would fokk it up so knowing that I let people who know how to do it do it. In this case from seeing knuckler's job, I would have no hesitationin letting him do one for me. he has talent.. I have bene known to dig a square hole with a post hole digger..

nice work & looks good. guess i'm the only one who doesnt have issue with the kahr grip. ive never had issue with the grips on either of my carry pistols (glock22 & pm9). the only thing i did was add the pearce grip extension to my pm9 but i could go w/out that for carry though it is nice at the range. only thing i'd like is to add an accessory rail to my glock22 for a flashlight

The guy who did it is a young kid (Early 20s) that works at a local gun shop. I looked at 2 of the ones he had done, and was impressed enough to let him do mine.
I figured that if he screwed it up, I could always order another frame, or just sell the gun. My wife bought the pistol for me as a gift (It was used), and I carried it for a while while I needed a small gun that was easy to hide. Now that I have changed professions, and don't have anyone telling me what I can/can't carry, I have gone back to carrying a 1911. I haven't carried the gun in a while, so I was willing to give the kid a chance to do it...the other ones felt really good, and looked cool, as well.
Oddly enough, after I brought it back home, my wife started playing with it, and decided she likes it....I think she is going to end up carrying it.

Excellent news, and definitely worth getting the job done then.

Looks good, but I'm like joshh I do not have a problem with the PM9 grip the way it is. I carry mine on my hip IWB and if it was any rougher I think I'd end up with some grip rash for sure. Does look like they did a nice job on it though.

I really didn't have any issues with my Pm9 grip either but when I decided to do some serious custom work to it, the stippling was going to be part of it. I am sure it doesn't bend alot of people's cranks either but it is mine and in a basket of 1000 PM9's I can find mine probably blindfolded even. I did want some of the grip sorta rounded on the corners and my grip guy was able to do that with ease. I later on put the mag well cuts outs in the gun, just more for looks than anything as I never carry a spare mag, but as Clint Easwood would have probably said had he had my PM9, "well it made my day".

I usually wear my half finger bike gloves when I shoot. The padding on the palm helps soak up some of the recoil, so the checkering on the grip never did bother me much. I did go ahead and buy one of those Handall Jr's and put that on and that helps quite a bit when I don't use my gloves. I haven't noticed if it "grabs" my shirt and prints more than it used too.
That is a real nice stipple job there Knuckler. Man I sure wouldn't have the patience (or the skill) to do such a nice job.

The kid charged me about 75.00, IIRC....
I can ask him if he wants to do more.
