Took my recently bought P45 to the range today. Weapon was a used gun sale, but appeared to never been fired. Shot around 40 rounds of the Federal 230 gr. ball ammo. Range was very icy and dangerous so I cut the session short. The gun performed excellent without a problem, no problems at all. I was expecting a lot of recoil with this small poly gun, but was pleasantly surprised. Very little recoil and the gun shot better than I did. Shot from 12 to 15 feet out. Quarter coin size groups where the gun pointed. Targets were paper plates. Very, very impressed with the accuracy. No trigger finger slapping problems within the trigger guard. I liked the trigger on this gun, very different from anything I've fired. Trigger had a nice break. I was very happy about the way this weapon performed. I will continue to fire the 200 break in rounds, and try assorted ammo and grain weight. I could have used a pinky finger extension on the mag. I placed a Hogue Jr. grip on the gun and believed this helped with the rough texture of the grip. Also looking into a Limbsaver grip for this weapon. Do you folks know of any type of mag bases with a finger extension for the P45. All in all a positive experience.

Glad everything worked out for you. Is your P45 DLC or stainless? The Hogue Handall Jr. really feels good on the P45 like you said.

Put about 60 more rounds through it (about 100 total so far) Ran great, shot ball and some JHP all 230 grain without a burp. Replaced the Hogue Jr. grip with a Limbsaver grip, what a difference. The Limbsaver is fantastic and covers up all those nasty little plastic raised nubs on the grip. The slide release on this gun is a bear to use when the mag is in it and empty, and the slide is locked back. Very hard to get the slide release to work. Does this just have to get more use to function better, or is this a problem? Any help would be appreciated..thanks.

It will probably loosen up some (it has on my CW45), but it's not a problem as it is now. By design, it will be harder to operate with an empty magazine in place as the magazine follower is in contact with the slide lock (pushing it up) and is being held there by pressure from the magazine spring. If you need to release the slide with an empty magazine in place, use two hands, pull the slide rearward a slight amount, then press/hold the slide lock down, and ride the slide home (I prefer not to let it slam home on an empty chamber).
