For those of us in NC, this will be the thread to post stuff on new pro-gun laws being introduced this session. In 2010, the Republicans "seized" control of both the state house and senate--the first time since 1898. Yes, that's right, over 100 years ago. For years the Democrats have blocked most pro-gun laws. That is going to change. :)

First up, the castle law is back: http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascripts/BillLookUp/BillLookUp.pl?Session=2011&BillID=S34

The NRA has sent out this e-mail alert.

"North Carolina: 2011 legislative Session Begins with the Introduction of Castle Doctrine Legislation in Raleigh !

The North Carolina General Assembly convened last week, and the NRA is working with state legislators to introduce several pro-gun reforms. Our legislative goals include Right-to-Carry reforms that will expand where permit holders may lawfully carry their concealed firearms, eliminating the archaic requirement that law-abiding citizens request permission from their local sheriff before purchasing a handgun, passing a solid Castle Doctrine law, and fixing the problems with the current statutes relating to a declared state of emergency.

State Senators Andrew Brock (R-34), Doug Berger (D-7) and Kathy Harrington (R-43) have already introduced Senate Bill 34, which would codify the “Castle Doctrine” in the home, as well as establish immunity from civil lawsuits for those who use lethal force to defend themselves or their loved ones while in their home.

We will continue to bring you updates letting you know when more pro-gun bills are filed, when they are scheduled to be heard, and what you can do to help with their passage. Please continue to check your email and www.NRAILA.org for updates. "

I wish the best for you guys up that way. Having been stationed there, and having lived there for a little while (still have a valid concealed weapons permit) I know that the laws that way are squirrley to say the least. Keep us posted.

Indiana passed that alw a few years ago and employers are finding all kinds of loop holes in the law. Some have special parking places for vehicles that have firearms locked, some have required owners to register their guns with the employer. It has gotten out of hand and now there is another bill to more less stop this b.s. by employers. Not sure how the Indiand legislature is going to vote on it. there are alot of pros and cons in this law and I see both sides.

one legislature sad even he understood that reason why some people wanted to have a firearmin there vehicle as some travel 20 + miles to work and more and they feel this right to protect themselves, and then should not be harrassed by an employer once they arrive at the pakring lot. Employers are saying it is our property, we have the right to say how it is used. People just want to be legal and not jeopardize thier jobs either. And where my son works they basically don't care one way or the other, other than no firearms inside the work building but locked in vehicles is fine.

My daughter who is an attorney in Florida told me yesterday that if u are caught with a hand cuff key inside of any florida court house it is a felony of 5 years. Seems a few years back a lady sneaked in a hand cuff keyand gave it to her boy friend in court and he got loose killed 3 offiecers before he was shot and killed, Hence the bill .

Seems so many damn ways to get ones ass in trouble anymore that even taking a pi-s in a public building can get u in trouble. We are headed next week to a Reba McItyre and George strait concert in Indy next week and although I have a ccw lifetime permit, I cannot carry a gun inside conseco fieldhouse...

Best wishes to you. My wife's family is from NC and we spend a lot of time there every year.

Regardless gun rights in one state affect us all in other states. Whether when traveling through, or just public pressure back in one's home state, we're all in this together.
