Hi Dr J. Yeaterday I was asking about getting my PM40 magazines coated in a black color...There is a powder coating company in my neighborhood and was wondering if that would work on the floor plates and who and what process did you use on your PM9?... thanks my friend....

I had awpcogan do mine. I would think they could powder coat the floor plate perfectly. I proabably would pass on the powder coating of the entire magazine as that would add alittle more thickness to the magazines and that might cause some issue. buthe floor plate would be very duable indeed.

Thanks Jocko, I will give the powder coated floor plates a try and see...The Powder coat company mostly does race car frame and roll cage work but said they would just throw them in with another job and not charge anything but a 6 pack...If that doesn't work out I will try your guys...Thanks again, You always have the answer...:D

Ihave had very small parts powder coated for my harley, they should be able to do that floor plate with ease. It is worth a 6 pak for sure.

Wow I looked at the apwcogan site and they really do some cool work...I called and talked to Bob Cogan about it and he said he could do the ceracote (not sure if thats spelled right) for $40.00) and he said that Gun scruber would melt powder coat just like paint,,(didn't know that) His suggestion was that if the bright floor plates bothered me that much to go to the hardware store and buy some flat black BBQ grill paint and spray the bottoms of the magazines and it they get scratched to just hit again with a light coat...I may just stop being so picky and leave well enough alone because the pistol will be in my pocket 95% of the time...I wish I could stop being such an anal perfectionist about stuff because most things don't really matter that much but the least little flaw in something bothers me way more than it should, I guess it's a character flaw...Oh well....I hope y'all will go to the www.apwcogan.com site and look around...It was nice to be able to call and talk to the owner/Bob who seemed like a very knowledgeable and friendly guy.

I tried that BBG grill stuff first and it just doesnt stay on right. It wear really fast on the edges, U willnot like it. Indeed Bob Cogan is a super nice guy. I did not know that about gun scrubber and powder coating. Norally powder coating is tuffer than nails. It is on all Harley Davidson frames and wears like iron. was that 440 per magazine, that seemed higher than his price listing was. his work is super though and my one magazine done by himn completely shows zero signs of any wear. I thought I had him do the black chrome finsih on my magazines but I have since long forgotten what finish he used to.

I had a friend that used that stuff from Brownells and it turned out super and he says it is a good a powder coating also.

I know Dot 4 will harm paint real bad, so I am gonna assume it is not kind to powder coating either.....
