- Bought it new when they first came out -
- never sent it in for any recalls -
- about 650 rounds -
- 1 FTF, 1 failure to go into battery (in the first 50 rounds), perfect since then -
- no peening-
Just thought you'd like to see another one:

army brat, nice gun , looks around vintage year of 02. I would suggest though that mayb eyou ought to order their new recoil assembly, for I bet your model being 9 years old has the original older style recaoil assembly with that flat end peace measuring 3/8". For some reason kahr made a hcange late ron to a 1/2" end cap recoil assembly. I know now why,but my guess and it is just a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess) is that some of the recoil springs were riding over that flat end wahser and causing issues If it ain't broke I always sday don't fix it but you cannot odred the 3/8" recoil assembly anymore anyhow, and I wouldjust recommend getting it as there had to be a reason why they uped the size. nice gun, and I would bet AZ4783054 that yours has that same style recoil assembly in your PM9 also, if u bought it new, maybe if used, it was changed over.
just wanting top pass on this info, as again if it an't broke don't fix it, sounds good to you then leave it be..

Very nice! Mine is a VA9 prefix serial and is one of my carry guns. I've had the barrel back to the factory for rework and the plastic mag catch swapped out for a metal one. She has an IB and IC prefix sibling in the safe as well as a couple of other Kahr family members.

You'll have to excuse the pocket lint.

Yes Jocko, I bought it new.
That's interesting info on the recoil assembly. I should hang around here more often to be made awares of things like that.
Maybe it might behoove me to send it in just to have the lil' gun updated with that and the metal magazine catch. The original catch on there is a trifle weak now - don't want to be dropping the mag during any possible social work, or at the range. :o
Would Kahr insist on a barrel replacement because of that long ago recall, as the one on there is the original early one that came out of the factory?

Engineer (http://kahrtalk.com/member.php?u=1496), I see you have Meprolights on yours. I have Trijicons on one and Mepros on another. I prefer the Mepros.

Racuda - yup, I prefer Meprolights - although in this case I didn't have much of a choice as my PM9 has the old style dovetail cutout in the rear and the Meprolights were the only "old style" sights listed in Kahr's accessories shop

your PM9 was on the original recall list for barrel replacement or barrel modification. Some barrels were not replaced but the highly polished the feed ramps as that was the only issue, some peened and were replaced. Kahr would know which is which by ur serial number.
Here is what I would do. I would call kahr and ask for EION OR JAY. give them your serial number and the fact that you bought it new and u now find that there is indeed a barrel recall. Ask them if they have to have the entire gun back or just the barrel. If the tell you the gun should go back to them complete, then ask if they will replace the polymer mag catch with the upgrade metal one and also what the cost would be to get a new recoil upgrade to. You might ask if they will pick up the gun on their nickel even. Even though this gun is out of warranty, it was a recalled gun and you never were notified, so maybe they will be kind to you. At best you should only have to pay one way and maybe they will install the mag catch and recoil upgrade no charge to. U can certainly ask .

engineer: what did kahr do to your barrel as u gun was in that recall serial # . Did they highly polish the feed ramp or did they replce the entiere barrel. They did one thing to some barrels and the other thing to other barrels.

jocko - unfortunately I don't know what was done with my barrel. When Kahr sent my barrel back, it was apparently lost/stolen in transit and they ended up replacing it with a new barrel.

I thought that pre 2005 guns owned by original owner had a lifetime warranty....

I'm impressed with how well these guns wear without showing their age. Other guns I've had show wear on their finishes from holsters and getting bumped around. Not so much with the Kahrs. My PM9 after 1 year of daily carry looks just like new through no actions of my own.
Old or new, fun either way.

Same here. VA91... Excellent pistol although I did have a bobble last time I was out with the cheap Federal from Wallyworld. Not really a concern. It has fairly new springs and ran another 100 or so flawlessly.
I also sent my barrel in, but all they did was a ramp polish so it would feed Gold Dots. Apparently, some police departments were complaining about it, according to Dottie when she was still at Kahr. Not an issue in my case. They sent me the metal mag catch for free and I put it in myself. Very easy.

I've been daily pocket carrying my PM9 for 6+ years and, except for some wear on the sights, it still looks brand new with the stainless slide. Because there's no finish to wear off! :D
