My wife and I are relocating back to our home town in Northwestern Pennsylvania from the upstate of South Carolina. The day of the move I will have in the trunk of my car 1,500 rounds of boxed handgun ammunition, 5 handguns and two shotguns. The shotguns will be in soft gun cases, the ammunition in a cardboard box with all sides taped, the handguns in their plastic boxes. I also have two concealed weapons permits, South Carolina and New Hampshire that covers me in every state we will be traveling through. And it’s a given that I will, as always obey all traffic laws. Any other suggestions besides giving them to jocko or Bawanna45 to hold for me? ;)

You might need to contact the county sheriff where your moving from and the county sheriff where you'll be moving to and let them know what your doing. Might not need to but I read that in my state if I move I am supposed to contact the county sheriff when I leave. You might be able to find out by just looking it up on the internet. Good luck on your move.

Sounds like you have it covered; guns and ammo seperated and unavailable covers most traveling requirements. Avoid Maryland and you're good to go, IMHO.

When I left New England for good, I had a boat load of pistols, rifles, ammo, hi cap magazines, etc. It was white knuckle driving through New York since there's no avoiding it and Canada is a no-go. Just drive "casual" and you'll be okay. I know about FOPA, but it seems the LEO community in New York either doesn't and/or chooses to ignore it.

Your good to go, dont ask, don't tell. If your concerned just make sure none are accessible in the driving compartment. Cased up in the trunk, not an issue.
Personally I'd still have at least one on your hip where it belongs but thats your call.
Drive nice, if your stopped be polite and respectful, no worries.
I'm of course available if you want me to hold them for you and I'm sure Jocko would be agreable to that as well. He might even ride up on his Harley and deliver them if the weather ever warms up. Packing a couple long guns on a Harley ain't nothing to him. He's a outlaw.

My PM9 will definitely be on my hip, as I mentioned my South Carolina and New Hampshire concealed weapons permits covers me for all the states I’ll be driving through.

Magna Port without question, fast reasonable and nice work.
But I thought the CW was coming to me? If your robbing me I'll take the SP101. Keep the LCP as bait in case you do get in trouble with an unknowing lawman. Use it as a bribe. I hear that stuff still works on the East Coast.

Not sure you want the SP101, I got it after 9-11 and only in 38 special. Now I wish it was in 357 then I could have shot both 38 and 357.
Sorry

Hey now, welcome to PA! please check out www.pafoa.org (http://www.pafoa.org) It is the PA firearms owners association. They have a nice group of guys and a nice message board. It is one of three gun boards that I visit. The guys there can help you with any of the legal issues that you might have questions about.

I can assure you that SC and NH CCW permits are not valid in Maryland. So unless you're going way out of your way through West Virginia to avoid MD, you won't be covered as you traverse our state.
Maryland treats this very seriously and you will be arrested and charged with a firearms violation if caught. Sad but true.
And oh, don't forget Washington DC. They're crazy too.

You will only be in MD for a couple of miles, but treat those short miles with a lot of respect. I moved to PA from Maryland and I still work there. They take loaded handguns UBBER serious!!!
I travel down to West VA, a couple of times a year and I hate it, when I have to stop at the border and lock everything up. I then drive another 5-10 minutes and get my Kahr back on my hip.
I work in MD and there is no way for me to carry :(. Please take the Peoples Republik of Maryland gun laws seriously. It is not worth being locked up and you won't be there long. Are you coming up route 522? That has the shortest time to get thru MD. With 522 you are only in MD for a couple of miles.

I made the trip up I79 several times last year when taking my son to EDINBORO, Pa., just south of Erie. I picked it up later than you will of course, as I started out in Quantico, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. It was a very pleasant drive, little traffic, short construction work areas and good scenery, (especially in W. Va.).

Yes, Erie is only about 15 miles north, my son also went there.
I left Yankee land after I went to college in 1970. I only revisited it a couople of times, one funerakl, one wedding and thats it!
Sorry, although I miss the change of seasons & scenery,I could never see myself ever returning up north, they are way to liberal, tax crazy and their views on the Constitution turn my stomach.
Thats why the South fought the war of Northern aggression. I have now lived in Georgia and Florida for over 40 years and now know where my allegance lies. I seriously beleive we can take em the next time. LOL:D
