We were cruising around Academy last night and I noticed they had a solid black Judge. I asked to see it, turns out it is POLY! Quite a bit lighter than mine. Hubby LOVED it. He said "it's tactical! and matches my truck!" lol I told him he needed one for his truck so I don't have to keep moving mine around every time I take the truck. ;)

I'm assuming you can shoot .410 ga. slugs out of these?

I'm assuming you can shoot .410 ga. slugs out of these?

45 long colts, .410 slugs, .410 bird shot, and the new "self defense" rounds that are 000 buck shot pellets or these little disks that can do some major damage.

I had a Thompson Contender choke installed, really makes it accurate. You can see it in picture 3 above.
See link below, Ahlman's does all my custom work, they are awesome. They have 5 full time gunsmiths.

A few of my friends have the Judge (Older all metal style) and I'm very jealous. I've heard when shooting shot in a rifled barrel it's actually better to have a shorter one since the rifling tends to disperse it out more. Can't say for sure but thats what I've heard.

this is about 10-12' with bird shot.

and here is about the same distance with the 5 self defense rounds that have three 000 buck shot pellets

I too bought a 2.5" cylinder with 3" barrel stainless steel Judge for my wife. She wanted it for Christmas last year.
we both found it quite manageable and accurate at defensive distances. I even liked the 225 grain, jacketed hollow point 45 colt loads...they shot right to point of aim for me at 21' feet.
After first shooting it I went ahead and had the gunsmith put in a trigger spring kit in it for her, which really reduced the double action pull considerably. All in all quite a good stopper for sure.

Why would anyone use .410 slug in the Judge? It shoots 45 colts (LC's)!
