I've mentioned before on the Kahr section in Glocktalk that if the CW9 was out when I bought my P9 in 2002 I might have gotten it. Having said that, all the threads I see are about the CW9 so I was just wondering if I'm the only one still carrying the P9?

I carry a P9. I sold my CW9. The P9 suits my wants and needs better.

I have owned both. I prefer the P9 by a large margin. I have two P9s, one in matte stainless, and one in DLC.

I just bought a P9 a couple weeks ago. Mainly cause I wanted the DLC finish, but overall like the P9 better.

My first Kahr was new CW9. It was my perfect EDC till I found used in like new condition P9.
P9 is my #1 and CW9 is a back up.

BTW I paid less for like new P9 with two mags, than for new CW9 with one.

Well, me to TucsonMTB, I carry a CW9 and bought it as a First Kahr because of the price! I am sold on the value that a Kahr pistol offers. I am not sure if my next Kahr will be a P9, PM9 or even a MK9. In the last seven years I have purchased several pistols looking for a range and carry pistol.

Two years ago I began looking for a single stack 9mm, slim, compact, light carry pistol. I kept coming back to the Kahr. What I though I wanted was a Kahr with a single action trigger. There just wasn't such a pistol. So after shooting a Colt New Agent, a Springfield EMP, MK9, PM9 and a PM45 I made a choice. I bought the CW9. I worried that the short grip was a little difficult to control. And that the full grip on the CW9 would suit me better. I feel that proved to be correct. I ramble on.

So I plan to add a second Kahr to the lineup.

I don't own one but IMO it is just dkamn hard to fund any faults at all in the P9, unless your an all steel person, then the K9 fills that bill. If your gonna carry that P9, it certainly has great merits over the k9 then...

Just a very super under recognized kahr, about only to us guys who don't own one and I think the owners of the P9 have kinda kept this well know secret to themselves!!!!

I'm curious… for all of you who prefer the P9, what does it for you? I love my CW9 to death and my untrained eyes don't see many differences.

good eye sir; not alot of difference until you try to do some things to it. Pinned front sight on the CW limits your choices of sights, not big deal if you stick with what came on there.

Extra magazine comes with the P9, which saves one going out and having to order a spare.

Internals are all the same, . alittle more outside slide work on the P9 over the cw, again this is cosmetic, doesnt' make it a better gun. Slide stop in the P9 is forged, where as cw are MIM part, again never read of a cw MIM part breaking but I have read of the forged slide stops breaking (damn few, maybe two ). advantage to me NEITHER.

Polygonal rifled barrel in the P9 made by Walther lothar of germany) which has slight advantages over standard rifled barrels as far as a slight increase of velocity is concerned. Supposably alittle easier to clean(debateable). There is a photo posted on here about a week ago showing both types of rifling and what to look for . again IMO both are just as accurate. Certainly more accurate than any shooter. Also available on the P9 is the black DLC finish, which I sure would love to see offered on the CW line to. BUT IT ISN'T.

So is there a difference, yes there is, does that difference offset the additional price. That my friend is up to you.. I think someone posted a few days ago of buying a cw9 for $320 delivered, now to me that is just an unbeatable price for such a high quality gun. It is getting down close to the crappo kel tecs and other low grade guns ..Trust me there is a difference to...

I'm curious… for all of you who prefer the P9, what does it for you? I love my CW9 to death and my untrained eyes don't see many differences.

The three main reason for me to use a P9 instead of the CW9 are;

* Black slide. Can't do that on a CW.

* Mepro night sights. Can't do that on a CW.

* Polygonal barrel. Can't do that on a CW unless you buy an extra barrel, so why bother?

* Then there's the sound, the melody of the word... Kahr P9. It sounds better than Kahr CW9. CW, now that just sounds... unsophisticated, now doesn't it? :19:

Just kidding. I choose a P9 because you can't get a CW9 that looks like this.

So, basically, cosmetic improvements, easier sight replacement, a polygonally-rifled barrel, and an extra magazine. I do have to admit that the P9 is purdier, especially when you look at the engraving on the slide.

So, basically, cosmetic improvements...
If the TP9 came in black, then it would be my CCW, but it doesn't. The extra mag and the barrel don't really matter to me. It's the color and the ability to have the sights that I want, that make the difference. On the CW9 you get a choice of one sight and it isn't the brand I prefer.

Range guns I'll buy and shoot whatever way they come, but my CCW is going to be configured the particular way I desire, not half way or almost... even if it costs a bit more.

I always buy extra mags, so whether it comes with one or two doesn't really matter. When I go to practice today I have 22 mags that go along too.

I couldn't care less about roll marks or slightly different cuts.

I'd prefer a polygonal barrel because they last longer and clean quicker, but that isn't a deal breaker. Some of my best guns are rifled conventionally.

I have always said if the CW9 was around when I bought my P9 I might have chosen it. I've never been one for night sights since I fiqure its going to be a point, pray and spray situation anyway if it ever comes up. I do practice point shooting at 3 & 7 yds. The cosmetic difference wouldn't bother me much and the polygonal barrel might have a smidge more velocity but nothing I would pay 150 extra for. That being said I've had my P9 since 2002 and it's my carry piece of choice and I've already paid for it so the difference in price is a thing of the past.

I just bought a slightly used CW9... I plan on keeping it until I can get a good deal on a used P9.

the engraving. I would pay more for NO ENGRAVING.

I believe the CW series is for us poor folks or those of us who were not sure up front if a Kahr would make them happy. That would be me on both counts. :o

Mine's a CW40, but I am working on getting a PM40.

Or you could do the best of both, wait a little longer and get a CM40. I know I may have to do some re-arranging of funds and priorities but it will happen.

I carry the P9 daily. When I was looking for a replacement for my Sig P239, the P9 was the winner. I don't know anything about the CW9, the P9 meets my needs very well. Accuracy and quality are excellent. I find it interesting that there is not a lot of talk about the P9.

ur right not alot of talk abou tthe P9 but also not alot of issues with owners of the P9. When people don't have any issues, they tend to not post. P9 great gun. I think the cw9 thogh has taken its place in the sales dept and it is also a great gun without some of the bells and whistles that the P9 comes with.

Mine's a CW40, but I am working on getting a PM40.

My CW40 is just about my favorite belt carry gun. For me, it shoots better and is more accurate than it should be, and is also my least expensive pistol except the LCP. If I have to go small, it's the PM9, but I still not sold on the 9mm round. the new CM40 is tempting, but I'm holding out for a CM45.

My P9 stays in my truck at all times. When I bought mine it was on sale and only $80 more than the CW9 and I would have wanted an extra mag with the CW. I don't carry every day so size was not an issue (over the PM/CM series). Just recently picked up a CW45 and took advantage of the extra mag offering. The price difference was over $200 to the P45.

Carry mine 24-7 as well. Lots of PM9's out there. My personal choice over the CW is just black but over the PM/CM I can get a full grip on the P9 compared to the little ones which makes me more accurate as I'm sure it does for a lot of others but it's still very concealable. The P9 is an extremely underrated gun.

Just came back from the range with the first 219 rounds through my new DLC P9. Had to get used to the trigger again but still managed to blow the red out of the center of the target. I wanted the DLC and the ability to change the sights easily. Couple of hundred more rounds and it will go on in the morning and off at night. My primary carry is still a SIG but only when I'm going someplace. This will be an all day EDC in a Kangaroo Carry.

BTW: no hiccups!

Pretty day here so I went to the range and ran another hundred or so rounds thru the P9 and a bunch thru my P239. Both seem to like CorBon 115+P DPX real well. Not a burp one with the P9.
