Just ordered a couple of the Polymer magazine base kits for the Pm9/40. Anybody try 'em yet ? Thought i'd give em a shot to get a little more grip but not be so obtrusive.

Do you mean the mod done in this (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=2773&page=2) thread?
Link to the kit, if it's something different.

FYI today I reached into my front pocket to check on PM40 in nylon pocket holster. Noticed to my chagrin that the magazine was not fully locked. I had started carrying a money clip in the same front pocket, which further hid the PM40. Found out after many tries, bending over just right the money clip would press the mag release!!!!!
Thought I would pass this along. Anyone else experienced something similar?

Those polymer base plates will work on a PM series, but you need to carefully reduce the overall height on the top side with sandpaper on a very flat surface. Otherwise, the height of the base plate won't allow for the PM magazine catch to engage.
You can also stipple the front edge of the polymer base plate for appearance and more pinky gripping friction. I like those better than the flat base stainless or PEARCE extensions.
The PEARCE extensions can likewise be reduced in over length by reducing the excess "hook" material at the bottom.
I thought this was something new for the PM/MK series pistols. Guess not. So basically, this is what you are looking at:

The new frame style is slightly shorter, so you might not even have to sand the base plate.

My PM 45 mags have that base on them.

And that folks is why we carry nothing but the gun in a pocket. (You dedicate that pocket to the gun). We will learn from your fail. :001_tt2:

If you don't want your metal base plates, I'm needing 2 of them. Looking to buy them of course. I know I can buy them from Kahr but haven't got 'round to it yet.

Jlottmc,
Very good point! The PM40 in the pocket is do-able, comfortable and secure (for me and I realize it is not for everyone) but it is already a load by itself. One day, by mistake, I tried to stick something in my pocket with my PM, but caught it quickly. By the time you get those pockets loaded up with weaponry and dodads, the entire package area gets so crammed up and constricted that it can't breathe good. You gotta have a free floating package guys.
Again - You are correct. Nothing should go in the pocket with the gun. Good point.
I like the idea of blackened base plates for CCW, but probably not an issue for everyone. I covered my mag base plates with Agrip material. Even with daily pocket carry it seems to be keeping intact and works out very well. Hides that shiny stainless. But I think I can see where the poly base plate extension on the flush mag would give the pinky a place to rest.

I just ordered one even though I thought the shipping was on the steep side. ($8+ to ship a piece of plastic to my front door in Pa.) After I get it I'll report on how it fits my older style PM9.
I like Kahr pistols but for the life of me and price we pay for the PM series pistols why there not on there already:confused:

I got two of the Polymer Magazine Bases in today. As noted earlier, they are to tall, so they must be slightly modified in order to get the magazine to click into place. All I did was rub the bases on some 150 grit sandpaper on a table top a bit until it was almost right, then go down to 220 and 400 lightly to smooth it off. Came out perfectly smooth and flat. Fit is about as close as it's gonna get to perfect with nearly zero gap.
Here's what the Polymer Magazine Base looks like on a PM40 magazine compared to a standard magazine:

And this is how the PM40 looks with the modified magazine.

This is how it looks with the modified magazine and a flower. :)

I have big hands, so that little extra grip feels like it will help keep my grip position while shooting. I have not fired it yet with these modified mags.

Just got my polymer base plate from Fed X. It did fit the pistol without sanding it but for my liking it was just to tight. I took a few passes on a fine piece of emory paper and tried it for fit. I made it so you can push it in with your thumb it bottoms out and the mag release clicks at the same time.
Equaling "0" play. My Kahr PM9 is a 2010 model. While I had the mag apart I cleaned the inside of the mag, follower, and spring with WD40.

I ordered this poly base plate today to give it a try on my 5 round flush mag. I won't know if I will like it or not until I try it for a while and compare it to the flush mount covered by Agrip material. I made sure to note on my order not to ship it if it is not going to fit my mag. It is ONLY $22.43 for a little piece of plastic (shipped)...hmmmm. It may just end up in the spare part bucket.

They probably won't work on the PM9 6-round magazine. But don't shoot the messenger...lol.

Yup...let's wait and see. I bought these for my PM9 and discovered they wouldn't work on the 6-round mag. I sent them back.
Once installed the magazine won't seat...without modifying the baseplate.

I purchased a poly base kit KMKPOL9 stated to fit PM9 or PM40 for my PM40. Not only did the base not slide far enough on the mag to engage the detent, but when the base was on the 5 round mag (but loosely) it would not engage the mag catch when in the grip. In other words, it does not fit on the mag, it does not work with the grip. Spacings are all totally wrong. I am not going to try to modify it to make it fit because too many things would need to be changed. It clearly does not fit at all. I will contact Kahr next week and return it for a refund.

I had the exact experience. The only way to fix this problem is for Kahr to update their web store to include a statement about what those baseplates are actually intended to fit. There are no easy modifications that would make these fit without you running the risk of having a pocket full of loose ammo to deal with. So...I stuck with my Pearce grip extenders.
On a brighter note Kahr's Customer Service was good about taking them back...I just wish they'd fix their ad. That way I wouldn't have waited my time.

I called Kahr today to return the base plate kit. They were not aware in the parts department that it did not fit the PM40 5 round mag. She had to put me on hold and when she returned she advised me. (I had already figured this out). I asked her to look up my order, as in the comments section I stated that the base plate was for a PM40 5 round mag and asked that they not process the order if it would not fit. She admitted that they did not catch the comment, but were not aware anyway. They will refund me once they receive the returned part. No problem on my end. I kind of liked the way it felt in the hand....if it did fit on the mag properly. Oh well.
