Just got my pm9 and took it for a spin after a good cleaning. I shot some reloads that I made(125gr. JHP w/4.7gr of imr 4756) approx. 100 rds. I am experienced with reloading by no means an expert. I had multiple FTF and FTE should I just pass this off as the gun not being past the 200rd break in period? is there maybe a different load I should try with more or less powder since this is the first time i have loaded for such a short barrel 9mm? any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Please check out" Jocko's Propper Prep for a new Kahr" in the Kahr Tech section. I think you'll find lots of interesting and helpful tips for breaking in that new pistol.

off the gun is in its break in period and I wold advise against using any of ur reloads until the gun is reliabe. Right now you don't know if itis the reloads or the gun. Give each a chance to prove itself out.

Buy some good fmj 115 grain ammo, at wal-mart, theys eemt o be the cheapest and give it a good work out.

U might want to refer to the kahr tech section and hit on the two stickys called: Kahr lube chart, it is awesome and PROPPER PREPPING OF YOUR NEW KAHR. It will help you alot also.

Once it gets reliable, then go to your reloads and test out. for sure read the owners manual there are some must things in it.. Were here to help , if we can.

Definitely take the reloads out of the equation until you know it's running like a Swiss Kahr. Stick with just good quality ball ammo. Then try some carry ammo to find what works. Then you can go back to reloads and develop something that works.
Kahrs seem to thrive on more powerful loads to make thing work but they are not ammo sensitive generally.
The loads Joshh mentioned or any quality factory ball ammo should work good.

All the above is good advice.I`ve never had a problem with feeding my PM9 my reloads but I never used them until I had broken in the gun with good quality factory fmj rounds.I`m at the 1700 round mark now without a problem of any kind regardless of the ammo used.Welcome to the forum and don`t hesitate to ask any question you might have.Let us know if we can be of any help.:)

Well I used the prep process you all suggested and changed flavors on my reloads. I used berrys plated bullets 115 gr fmj with 6 gr of imr sr 4756 with an oal of 1.160. The gun performed 100% as expected with no ftf or fte accuracy was not tested so much as I was focused on reliability. The brass was ejected approximately 3 to 4 ft to the right of where I was shooting. I even limp wristed some and would not fail. So I am very pleased with the gun at this time and accuracy will be tested at 3 and 7 yards next with pics to follow.

I leave the carry rounds to the factories because I read some articles in a magazine that says if you had to use your reloads for self defense there could be some discrepancies that could cause you legal problems. Regardless if this true or not I feel it is just safer to use factory ammo and gives me peace of mind that I will not be accused of trying to make super power extra killer bullets( silly I know ). So I will just use the reloads for practice.

I have read the same thing regarding carry ammo and it is prudent for all who carry to heed those words.A prosecuting attorney with political ambitions will use anything he can to bolster his record. If he or she ruins a few lives on their upward climb,it is of little consequence to them.

Well as time permitted I was able to go out to the country and finally test my pm9 for accurracy. The gun did amazing, but I did horrible. I only took 50 rds with me not sure why tho. Once I found out POA and POI with this weapon along with a grip I could manage things went well. I still need to practice much more to feel comfortable carrying this gun as a primary weapon so for now it will serve as a bug. and for anyone who just got one and has little experience as I do with this weapon, dont be discouraged when you cant put every round in a tight group practice, practice, and practice some more even when you feel you are doing good with it. I would like to post a pic but this size limit is crazy small and even with all extra space cropped out it was still way too large, maybe someone could give me some tip on how to post a pic.

www.resize2mail.com can resize a pic for free then save it to imageshack then "insert image" by adding its address.

it will get better with more rounds down ragne but personally don't expect to shoot that little black mark out either Kahrs have looooong but smooth triggers, just so much like a good double action revolver. it is a tuff trigger to master IMO. Some do it but most do not. It is what it is a close up personal defense gun that will go bang every time and save your life.

You might just try POA shooting, See that front sigth totally clear and the rest will fall in place. The front sight is your friend, remember that and u will do great for defense shooting. In a dire situation ur not gonna use those sights anyway, so get used to POA shooting. It is fast, it can be very accurate. Just lower your expectations.

One would think with my having over 30,000 rounds out of my PM9 that that little black circle would be in deep sh-it with me shooting at it. but it would be safe. I just never shot my PM9 as good asI thought I should, but I shoot it plenty good at 7 yards and under.
