Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this...
When I first got my PM9 (used, already broken in) I ran 100 rounds through it with literally no problem. Then I ran 30-50 (can't recall) +P SD rounds through it and had a handful (4-5?) slide lock backs with rounds still in the mag. I didn't think too much of it but it did stick in my head...
Well, got to shoot my first new reloads this past weekend and noticed the same thing. This time was with my reliable P40 covert and a new MK40 (again, used). I made up 180 gr FMJ (precision delta) with Clays and with Bullseye... both with the minimal starting loads... the Clays were VERY soft shooting and I loved them! The Bullseye loads were noticably more snappy than the Clays and a bit more snappy than the range ammo I'd been shooting (Blazer, WWB). In roughly 50-75 rounds of each, I had zero premature lockbacks with the Clays but probably 6-8 with the Bullseye loads... consistent across both guns.
I am confident it wasn't my thumb hitting the slide stop... All I can chalk it up to is the snappier loads causing the slide stop to engage... is this possible?
P.S. I now understand why some folks like the all steel kahrs... although I don't mind the .40 recoil, the felt recoil of the MK was night and day different than the P40 Covert... the MK just stayed right on target while the P40 had to re-acquire the target... and the grips (wood grips) on the MK really filled my hand well.. what a super machine!
THx, Scott
