Other than a 1911, what all metal (ok, mostly metal) .45ACP pistols are you all using? I have a Ruger P90 myself. I've been tempted by the SIG P220, but found it's performance (at least in the used ones I've shot) to be no better than the P90. Likewise, I don't find it's ergonomics any better than the P90's, just different. Still, I would like to read of anyone's experience with the 220 (and other metal 45s), perhaps I'm missing something by not having extended usage of one.
Here's a shot of my P90 (it has been a very accurate and reliable pistol for me):

Input on revolvers would be appreciated as well. When I'm in an "Indiana Jones" kind of mood, I'll break out my "Brazilian contract" Smith and Wesson 1917. It's some worse for wear, but still a fine shooter:

I no longer have a .45 but I have owned a Government Model 1911, a Commander, Star PD and Star Firestar. All we great guns except the Star Firestar on which the slide cracked.

I've heard nothing but positive things about the Ruger P90. Mas Ayoob swore by his.

Sig P220 here, but it isn't my favorite by any means. My favorites are polymer and don't fit your question criteria.

Check this one out Jocko. Better wear protection before clicking though. I peed myself a little.

wow, what a find, that is just one super peace and for what I am looking at the price seems reasonable. Hell frank, I pee myself every day.. That is the nicest Smith I have seen and such a special version also.

I love this gun. Back in 2003, I bought this for myself as my 40th birthday present. They had just hit the market and I never had anything from the performance center before so I figured what the heck. Looks kinda similar to that Recon 45, doesn't it. =)

It may look kinda like a 1911, but trust me when I say that 1911 purists will totally go off on you if you were to suggest that the 945 is a 1911.

Looks like a 1911 to me and a sweet one at that. Kind of reminds me of the Raptor. Love the scalloped areas.

a .45acp that's NOT a 1911? it just seems so wrong!
I sold a 70 series Combat Commander (1974mfg, new in box, papers, trigger tag, and even wax paper wrapped mag) because I just couldn't bring myself to shoot it. I still have a Springfield 1911 that was tweaked and tuned by Les Baer and an old colt around here somewhere.

Nice looking 1911. The S&W Performance Center does some awesome work. I was at Ed's yesterday and they have a beautiful blued Performance Center 1911 like that one listed at $1000 with 5 Mags and that cool aluminum case.

^ Ljutic said it isn't a 1911, but I agree it is one great looking gun.

How about this, I would like to try one out. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/images/D11/31/31189.jpg

Why A Kahr CW45 of course. It's not all metal but it gets the job done.

Before Sunday I had three 3rd gen S&W That were all metal. Right now I have two, S&W CS45 and a S&W 457S on a UPS truck somewhere between MA and Atlanta and one, another 4043, between here and St Louis. The two from MA have been out of production for several years, but both of these a brand new. The 4043 is another Ex-CHP gun. I haop it cleans up as well as the last one. I also ordered another SIG c3 last night but that's a 1911.

Willieboy,
Thanks for the input on the Stars. The PD generally seems to have a good reputation.

Some very nice Smiths being posted:), thanks out to Frank Derbin, Ljutic, and O"Dell. I've always admired the 4506 myself.

That 945 sure is sweet:hippie:

O'Dell,
How do you like your 457? A local pawn shop has a blue/black one at very good price, but it has a bad magazine latch.

a .45acp that's NOT a 1911? it just seems so wrong!
I'm a 1911 guy at heart (have posted photos of some of mine here), but I like 230 grains in other platforms as well, kind of a variety is the spice of life thing.:D

eastenn,
I like CZs, have a CZ75B, but the 97B is a big honker and just doesn't sit comfortably in my hands.

Just One Shot,
I agree the CW45 will "git-r-done" and is my most carried .45 at the moment.

yeah, don't we wish there was a K45....
Yep.

Anyone have any experience with Bersa's Thunder 45 or the EAA Witness line?

On the revolver side, any experience with a chopped, bobbed, Fitz Special, etc. Colt New Service (http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbs=isch:1&&sa=X&ei=pM5lTaz7DYzGsAPRl5XjBA&ved=0CDMQvwUoAQ&q=Colt+New+Service+Fitz+special&spell=1&biw=1144&bih=694) or S&W 1917 (http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&biw=1144&bih=694&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=chopped+S%26W+1917&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=)?

I carried a 1911 for over 20 years with Uncle and that platform is definitely not my favorite. Then I carried a SIG for many years, but not a P220. Now I have a P220 SAS DAK that I carry lots in the cooler months in both a Crossbreed Supertuck and a MS VM2. I would have to say that is my favorite to carry. But.....my most fun .45 ACP is a Performance Center 625 (and I have been known to carry it in the winter also). Not a great pic but here it is:

I would bite for a K45.

gb6491, I haven't got the 457S yet. I ordered it the Friday before the robbery on Sunday. After everything was taken, I called back and told them to send the CS45 too, since I need to build back my S&W 3rd gen collection. They weren't cheap, but both are brand new. I've read only good things about the 457 and CS45 on the net, especially if your hand fits the grips.

I guess I need to include my SIG P220 in this thread. I always forget about it because it been in the Gwinnett evidence room since August.
