I will say that that is the UGLIEST gun I've seen in a LONG time, but how does it shoot? Does that lower bore really help manage the recoil, or does it just reduce the flip by driving all the recoil straight back into your wrist? Does your hand ache after shooting it?

While I agree with the ugly which is of course to the eye of the beholder I've heard those things really shoot sweet.
It's definitely got some out of the box thinking involved in it's design.
Anything tough about cleaning and maintenance, same stuff just laid out a little different I reckon.

Viritualy NO RECOIL, very accurate. Very light weight also....and yes so ugly I like it.
It does push back rather than flip, but not a problem. Shot a box of HOT 357 through it just to see how it was. I think with 38's it would feel like a pellet gun.
I traded a $600 value gun for it from my local dealer.

Is it an alloy frame? Sure looks like there is a lot of "stuff" in front of the cylinder.
I have had some women that looked like that after I sobered up!!!!

Wow, that's interesting. I was just getting ready to ask how the hammer (up top) would impact the primer... now I see... interesting!

Makes me wonder why not extend the cylinder about an inch with rifling, do away with the barrel and fire it electronically. Sure looks complicated in the cutaway.

RE: being an ugly gun. I was always told to marry an ugly woman, they are low maint., will work hard to please you, and you don't have to worry about another man stealing her.
I assume the same would hold true for an ugly gun?

Darn, an amorer course for that must be about 30 days long and comes with 6 bottles of advil. Kind of pretty on the inside though.
Sort of like a Swiss watch or something. I looked inside one once, never did work again after that. Don't remember if it worked before I looked or not, maybe not.
Does look like some wood on the grip or potential for wood so maybe theres some chance of beautification in a small way. Maybe wood and glass side covers so we can see inside?

Nice. I'm curious how these stand up to long term firing since the Chippa .45/.22s get a bad rap for their "pot metal" composition.
Personally, I think you Rhino looks much better than the latest abomination from S&W.

Wow, hadnt seen those, thats not that bad! Hard to make a 410 revolver look like anything but a Judge. Bet they get a ton for that. They don't give the Judges away either.

I like the looks of the smith over the judge. but I want a 3" 410, not a ***** 2.5" . Just me I guess, Taurus offers I think only one model in 3" so I guess that is not what the buying public wants. Might just be me but I consider the 2.5" 410 the 380 and the 3" the 9mm.
DAMN. Almostt 30 ounces!!!! EMPTY. MSRP $680

Watched a Hickok45 video where he reviewed the Judge. He started out with 7 shot then moved up 1 level at a time. He was saying he wouldn't want to get shot with them but you may want something else for defense. That is until he shot the 000 cartridges. Then he says wow! It kicked like a good sd gun and the pellets went through what he was shooting at. The 00 was better and the new one with slugs + bb's was about the same.
It was impressive to see the 000 & 00 penetrate a 55 gal drum with vigor. I don't want one but it did sway my opinion a bit.
Whew...! That is one ugly Son of a gun...no pun intended trying very hard to be proper...wasn't my first intended comment but you'all get the picture.
I wonder why they even bartherd with a dang hammer with the bore axis at the bottom. Seems like a whole lot of extra moving pieces...?

Guy in the next lane to me was shooting a brand new Judge on Monday. Took about two full cylinders before he even got on the target at 7 yards. Big a$$ gun and pretty expensive to shoot. Had his shot rounds in a large wallet that I guess comes with the gun.
Looked at the Chiappa Rhino a couple of months ago at my evil pawn shop. Seeing the lock works here, no wonder it has a trigger pull that your index finger needs steroids to make it operate! There are so many contact points in that linkage that doing a trigger job takes on a whole new meaning. I guess that you could put a glass cover over the linkage side to show everyone how it works. :)
Think I'll stick with my SP 101 for my carry revolver and the CW9 for my carry semi-auto! Simplicity has a lot going for it (actually both guns).

I bought two boxes about 2 years ago of sellior and bellio 3" 00 buck 410, 5 pellets in each round, I know the 3" gun is big but for a home defense gun I just think it would be ideal. I guess I am at a loss to understand why the 3" version does not sell good even, as 3" 410 ammo is plentiful. both guns IMO to big for anything but waist band carry. great car gun and home gun, would not be my carry peace though.:behindsofa:
I realize in the 3" version there would be alot fo free bore play with the 45 long colt in the gun, but I honeslty can't believe one would buy this judge to ever shoot the 45 long colt anyhow. They had to rifle it to get by federal laws but I have also been told by some that the rifling is just so slight even to get past federal laws, that the judge was basically designed for the shotshells..

I would think no matter how juch you worked with that gun that all the contact points as u mentioned would be a real deterent toa "good" trigger.

I think the easiest way to do a trigger job on the Rhino would be to fill the grip up with lapping compound and dry fire the heck out of it.

Hot Dawg, Me likeum that S&W Governor .45 and 410...I was wondering how long it would take Smitty to bring out their version of a Judge...I am a member over on the S&W forum and listed that gun on a desired gun thread and it got shot down by everyone as never happening but looks like it did.. I bet they are going to be asking a pretty penny for that baby but I want one!!!!...By the way did anyone ever find the phone number for Guns Annomous???....I think I need a meeting...Hi I'm Getsome and I'm a gunaholic....It never ends...:spider:

Have you seen the new "Congressman" by Taurus??? Here rumors about the "Senator" coming out soon. I'll just wait for the "President" to roll out in a Air Force One box!! Whatever you do, don't buy the "Pelosi" as that would take ugly guns to a new level.

I don't think the Rhino needs any trigger work. It shoots fantastic right out of the box.....it might just become my new carry gun. :w00t:

You'd never have to shoot anyone with it. Just show it to them. Instant flaccid urination! LOL Kinda like Hillary & Janet Reno affect me.

jeepster,
Your gun's trigger may be better than the one I picked up/handled at the evil pawn shop (this pawn shop is really a gun shop in disguise) a month or so ago. Then again, it could be just me as I wasn't real familiar with the way the thing c0cked and operated.
Good luck with it!
