Just picked up my CW9 at the gun show in Charlotte this weekend. I've wanted on for so long, I saw my first Kahr when I took my CCW class. I absoloutley love this/these guns! Just ordered a P9 slide stop so I can ditch the MIM on the CW9. I read all over the forums, many thanks to Jocko for all the lube and prep info. Doing my 200 round brak in on Sat. will follow up with how hat goes. I look forward to being a part of this community and just wanted to make a formal intro. :D

That's my fear,.
I also have one question in regards to the extractor. When loaded it seems like the extractor bulges out a little. Take the round out and it goes back flat. I had it apart for cleaning and slid a casing in so that the extractor caught and it does move. Seems like it was designed that way but I want to make sure there is no flying stainless on Sat. only lead.

It's like a loaded chamber indicator. You can feel it or see it and know that theres a round ready to depart.

That's what I assumed. From all the research I did I can't really imagine getting a lemon from the people at Kahr. Thanks for getting back on that so quick.

first off, welcome aboard. for reassurance, the bulging extractor is mentioned in your owner's manual..:boink: time for some reading..

I must have missed that in all the excitement. I guess I'll re-read that manual.
Wounder if they'll get mad if I do that at work???

It's perfectly fine to read the owners manual at work. Just tell them that Dietrich said it was ok.
Depending on your line of work field stripping at your desk may or may not be recommended.

I talked to your boss and they said it was totally okay. Actually, they told me you should take the afternoon off tomorrow to have an extra range session. Welcome to the addiction!!

Welcome to the forum.
If you have shot DA revolvers then you'll be good to go with the CW9's long trigger pull. Just keep pulling steady. There is a stage but it is not like a DA revolver. Also, has a long reset so, don't short stroke it.
Make sure you load the first round using the slide stop lever. At least until the gun is broken in.

Where I work, they ask me every day where my guns are if my range bag is not sitting on my desk. I spend most of my lunch break talking to people about guns, ammo and holsters if I am not at the range shooting:D My desk can accommodate several guns for field stripping and cleaning and is done frequently.

what is the difference in slide stops and why change it out??? Just curious as to what an MIM is also:confused:

Way more information than you want to read on metal injection molding can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_injection_molding
Some shooters feel that MIM parts are not as durable as forged parts, so tend to replace them. Personally, I have never seen a MIM part fail on my guns, but that is just my experience.
And a big welcome to the forum! :D

In one of my many roles at the company I work for I am a metallurgist. While the concept of MIM is perfectly reasonable, I feel like the isze of the part and stresses that it may see could be an issue. I've seen metals do some pretty weird stuff. That and I perfer the overall asthetics of machined parts, just a personal thang.
:80: Also just had to add the tank smiley, just for cool factor.

WAY too much info there. I think I will just keep mine stock. Every time I buy something I have to change it to try and make it better. I have over $1800 in upgrades on my bike, and my ruger had to have Hogue grips that I took of cause I didnt like them. I got all kinds of stuff laying around that have been stripped off of things I have bought.

Getting ready to walk out the door with a little over 400 rounds of 9mm. We'll see how many I have left when I get back. Report to follow.

Ammo can come back? This is a strange concept. If I don't want to shoot it, I don't bring it. I did not know there could be a return trip for ammo.
BTW welcome to this place, it's kinda like a bar where you bring your own, and it's all good. Some of us spend way more time here than we should.

YES AMMO CAN COME BACK!
Especially if you bring a whole lot to begin with! Rather have more than enough than be thinking I should have brought more. My range bag gets seriously stretched out on the trip to the range. What with about 400 rounds of 9 mm, 200 38 spl, 100 357 mag and at least 2 value packs of 22. No way I'll shoot them all but it is nice to have.

SWEET! Did you get the IWB clip-on model 100 professional, size 10A for the 9mm/ 40 automatic glock 26,27 and Taurus pt 145??? That's the one I got and it fits perfect. You can put it IWB or between the belt and pants. Rides high and close and the gun fits tightly in it. The clip is stong enough to were without a belt too.

That's the one I got. Actually found it at my LGS/Reloading supply house up the street from my house. Guess it was old stock cause it was only $39.00. Worn it both IWB and between the belt/pants. It works good both ways.

I sit here feeling impressed beyond belief. I came back with 100 rounds. It felt shameful to waste them after 300 rounds, one destroyed aderondak chair, one colanderized (new word?) helium tank, and a small tree, I can say that the CW9 is one bad mama jamma. I TRIED to limp wrist, I TRIED shooting "gangster style", I TRIED every poor technique and not one FTE or FTF. It ate 3 trays of UMC mega pack, one tray of Blazer, and a whole box of WWB. That's 300 for the count BTW. The Count, that's what I'll call him. My wife, myself, my friend who is a professional strongman, and one of his training partners all shot the CW9 and it worked flawlessly. The Count has been cleaned, lubed and put to bed for the night. I am one happy dude right now. :w00t:
