Barrel P40

Hello new to forum and 6 months to the Kahr. Switching from G19, G27, P3AT, to PM9, P40, Sig 238, and hopefully soon P380. Got a new P40 got a rough area on the barrel, looking down barrel at feed rap top right. My PM9 has some rough milling in the same area is this normal?

My CW45 and CW9 have the same relief machined into their barrel hoods. My guess is that it's simply the way Kahr chooses to machine the hood (possibly to facilitate ejection).
