Other than the 3rd bullet from the left being slightly out of place, what a beautiful photo of a beautiful pistol! :hippie:

I totally agree, Greg. A 1911 is an open-carry weapon for me. I'm still shopping around for a decent leather holster in the 80-$90 range for winter carry. Sweet setup you have there! I especially like the all-black Colt and Kimber, not that I'm against a little bling, either.

This is a kahr forum where men are men and not a buch of pu$$ys who buy purdy 1911's which most probably jam anyhow whick all are 12# over weight and bigger than a Mini Cooper. Just my 21 cents on this and I realize the colonel will have some off the wall comment to me about my opinion..

Mr. Jocko, your complaint is duly noted and I have forwarded your grievance (that means gripe) to the proper channels.
You may also follow up directly simply by calling 1-800-who gives a rat's posterior.
Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention.
Without your diligent efforts to seek out these atrocities,(that means really bad things) they would most likely go unnoticed.

Thank you for your rapid response. In answer to your question I'm not certain. I shall inquire of our legal counsel and try to determine if rats posterior and rats ass are indeed the same thing.
I didn't think the word police allowed rats ass, apparently the screws have been loosened slightly.

Its a fantastic pistol that has never given me any problems at all . The only complaint that I have is I personally do not care for an Ambi. safety and when I use it as my CCW I carry right side just behind my hip and I have had the safety swiped off while using my seatbelt . I have put close to five thousand rounds through this pistol and it is a joy to shoot and this particular gun is very accurate. I plan on getting a single sided safety installed soon I'm just slow to change things that work . I bought this pistol 5 years year's ago and have never thought of trading it off because I trust it and it works every time I go for it. I hope this helps.

I don't think they did come with a wide spur but that don't mean it can't happen.
Greg put one on his Colt, which inspired me to put one on my Remington. I used a Auto Ordnance hammer on mine and it worked perfectly.
I don't recall which hammer Greg used but a search might find that thread.

I like a whaletail... but only on hot girls :D
I much prefer having a beavertail on my 1911's. I didn't realize how much more I liked them till I got my Sig.
So when I recently did a few upgrades to my old Para P12 lightweight. I added a Wilson drop-in beavertail. It fit right in and what a huge improvement in feel and pointability.
Also added some new grips, wolff extra power recoil, and mag springs, and a steel mag release.
Now my lil'45 powerhouse is back in the carry rotation.

The Wilson Beavertail drop-in fits perfectly. Looks like factory.....nice sweet pistol. I did the whole thing with my R1...trigger, beavertail, hammer, grips (finger and panels), hammer spring, 3 1/2 lb trigger job, recoil spring, Wilson 8-round mags etc...etc. It's mostly all I shoot anymore. It's loose, smooth, and plenty accurate for me.

I did not know Ruger had released an alloy frame Commander until I saw it on the cover of a recent Combat Handguns magazine. I shouldn't have looked but it was too late so about 3 days later I was able to locate one and it came home with me. I have only put 150 rounds through it so far but there was zero malfunctions and the accuracy was surprisingly good at 15 yards. I also made a new holster for it just because.;) Opinions are always welcomed

I held one a last month at the gunshow. I liked it a lot. Nice and light for sure but still looks good.
I was even scratching my head pondering what it would be like to bobtail it. Alloy doesn't blue I don't think, probably have to do something else.
There was an alloy Smith already bobtailed with all the bells and whistles, my son bought it for double the money but it's a nice setup too.
This is an older pic of my Auto Ordnance "1911 Presentation Grade". It is Royal Blue with Nickel accents. Sorry for the bad pic quality. Next time I dig it out I will try to get a better pic. On the other side of the gun, it says" Handcrafted for" and my name. It is pretty cool. Kahr was selling these for a while and I could not resist for the money. Oh..., BTW, did I mention the grips are from Bawanna's Grip Emporium? Makes it even cooler!

Throw in a Browning HP, from late 60's as I recall. Millett Dual Crimp front... which at the time they said couldn't be done. Well, not with Millett's tools... so I had to make my own.
Not seen... the 1911, no A, no 1, all complete, a very nice Colt SS series 80 with BarSto, a Springfield 4" (between Commander and Officer's) with Wilson Barrel, and a TacSol .22 tackdrivin' little 1911 with a stainless frame and steel upper.

I'm seeing a lanyard loop, that has to be an add on.
I've been playing with mine of late. I really like it. It does have a little hang up right before going into battery but only if you let the slide down easy like a press check. Any kind of force at all and it rides over and goes fine.
My son has the R1 Enhanced and his has it just a bit also, not quite as bad.
Still haven't figured it out. Don't hurt anything, just bugs me.
I put a Auto Ordnance Wide Spur hammer in mine with a little Greg Guidance. I do love a wide spur hammer.

I do love a bobtailed handle, just seems to work better for me. I've bobtailed 4 now I think. Still sweat profusely prior to and during the hacksaw treatment. Last one I used a dremel and a cut off wheel, wasn't any better I still sweat.

I pick up this brand new Auto Ordance BkO 1911 up last March of 2016 . The grips on handgun not factor grips they where brown so replace them with set black ones came off my fathers old Springfield Armory 1911 witch I had no trouble putting on my new Auto Ordnance. You get black box witch you see with handgun one magazine all under $500.00 dollars. I bought this handgun at Budsgunshop.com witch they had at very reasonable price brand new. They done real nice job with this handgun compare my dad own stainless steel Springfield Armory 1911 Gi was surprise see how well compare to his handgun.

Really like being able to disassemble with no tools.
And the factory slide release has that modification to push straight in with no idiot scratches :D
Only issue was the safety drew blood eating the web of my hand
Emailed Dan Wesson and they said there was nothing they could do to resolve that
Had my gunsmith fit a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Tactical Safety.
Problem Solved

Is that a dark blue or black ? It is really sharp.
That's Colt's "Royal Blue". It's done with modern bluing salts, so I'd say the color is blue-black.
The ultra pre-bluing polish done on guns that have the "Royal Blue" finish is what gives that finish such depth (and makes it hard to capture the true color in photographs).
The "Royal Blue" polish was first done on the Python in 1955. It's available as a refinish option from Colt's Custom shop today.

No idea. I did some research before buying it (from a fellow member on a firearm forum) and couldn't find any info at all on "Sig stainless commander with rail" save a couple of posts on 1911.com. (https://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=219314)

Thanks MB! It's always been a good shooter with very mild recoil.
Sig 1911 Commander in stainless with rail. Apparently Sig only made a few thousand of these back in 2008, they don't appear anywhere in their catalogs or on their web site.

Piece of cake Deacon. Getting that hole in the right spot is 95% of the battle.
The rest is easy once you built up your nerve to hacksaw or dremel cut on your pretty gun.

He didn't get it done today, but that is because the replacement bobbed MSH from Fusion is to well made! Gonna take a couple more days to be fitted properly and drilled. Actually the cutting, shaping and filing doesn't really worry me, my Dad was a machinist, so I grew up in a job shop! Knew how to run Bridgeport lathes and mills when I was 12 years old!

I mostly prefer short triggers on my 1911-A1ish pistols, but there are exceptions. I've have been playing with a longer trigger on my Kimber Target.
I also went with some thicker grips on it. These grips break from traditional style a tiny bit. So far, it's not a bad feel.

You better break out the chainsaw file and make a notch for the mag release. I've done that before several times. Fortunately I caught it before I sent them off.
I've often thought of making some similar to that, just to be unique and different but I see somebody done beat me to it.
I did make a set where the wood came around the front down near the mag well. Forcing a high hand hold. Felt great. Tough to make and with wood I'm not sure how durable they would be. I made them for somebody here a few years back, can't remember now.
I started to make myself a set, I'll have to check the drawer and see if I still got them.

I thought about that mag release being inletted after I hit send, no way that would have got by you.
The grips I described are very much like the 210 only mine were solid and met in the front. They were quite comfortable at least for my size hand.
I looked this morning and can't find them anywhere, I thought I'd made at least part of them when I did the set for a member so I'd have kind of a pattern. Thought sure I had them but they are hiding good.

I'm totally on-board with you Colonel. I'm simply loving the P210A so far.
I let another friend shoot it today. He fired a magazines worth from 15 yards, shooting two handed while standing. If I hadn't watched all 8 rounds hit, I wouldn't have believed him if he had shown me the target. I cut that section out of the cardboard and will stick it on the wall of my garage:

Yep, 5 rounds through that less than dime size hole in the sticker he was aiming at.

I'd really like a shiny brand new one but it near half the normal 1400 bucks a used one might not be so bad.

My problem is I’m heavy on the tradeables (is that even a word) right now, but not so much on the cash. Just got one of the newer, thicker barrel tactical mini 14’s (looking for a while) a few days ago at a steal ($500), so I’ve either got to work a trade/cash deal or sell those trades instead. That, or my work needs to bear more fruit so I can sneak some cash without the wife scolding me. Hope you can win it! I’m gonna go on gb and check it out!

I recently got a set of stag from Ebay. I almost returned them as the left panel didn't want to go on my early Kimber Stainless Classic. I stripped a screw head (allen) trying to torque the panel in place. On a whim, I tried them on my beater Charles Daly. It has slotted screws and the miscreant panel finally went in place. I was happy with the walnut I had on Chucky, but think I'll leave the stag in place.

That's the one and only thing that comes between me and my wood grips. STAG! I think Chucky looks real fine wearing stag.
Getting them holes to line up perfect on any grip is the biggest challenge. If they don't push on into place and fit flush without the screws they need to be worked on. I tell myself that all the time. Screws just keep them from falling off, they don't pull them into place.
I should get my Tupperware Italian 1911 this week, not sure how I'm gonna deal with not being able to mess with the grips, maybe Krylon?
As a side note I ordered my wife a Henry American Beauty 22. Pretty thing it should be here about the same time so I can take her with me and she can do her own paperwork. Said that was on her bucket list, but maybe not, she wanted to do it all by herself, guess I helped on this one so maybe it don't count.

I agree with you on the screw thing, but the fit was so darn close that I gave pulling them in place a try. It worked in the end, but I was lucky that a Torx bit turned that damaged Allen head screw out. I'm thinking if one is to try this, at least use slotted screws.
I'm fond of my Italian. I'm not sure if I would call it an Italian beauty, but it's built well and, even though it's quite a bit lighter, it feels right in hand. With that, I guess beauty is just a throw of the light switch away.
Speaking of beauty........oh my

GB, yes the Inkberry grips are the thin style. I ordered a set of Stag off ebay but once I got them I didn't like how they looked. If I could find a good set I'd love to have Stag. By the way Chucky looks quite handsome wearing Stag.

That's an issue with stag, I like thin grips very much but it's darn hard to find thin stag. After a very long time and many attempts I finally pulled off a few stag grips of my own and see why it's so hard to make them thin.
Just finding the right piece and getting a good fit and proper coverage on the frame is a challenge. Don't know how the pro's do it.
There are some decent fake stag grips that can be found thin but while they don't look too bad, they are still fake, it's like messing with mother nature or something, just isn't right.

The ones I got were in fact fake Stag. They just didn't do it.

Addition to the story, I forgot our anniversary:eek: It was yesterday. Fortunately the Henry should be here soon, got a text that my gun was ready for pickup but didn't say if it was the Henry or the EAA Witness. Few days early for the county approval so maybe it's the Henry and I can use it for damage control. Funny she didn't even say anything yesterday and don't even seem mad! I'm still sleeping with a metal garbage can over my upper body tonight so she can't get at my throat to easy with a knife.
You could tell her that you were waiting to see if SHE remembered Colonel. That might work, once. :)

The little Henry didn't do much to put out the flames but they die out eventually anyhow. I took her down to do the paperwork herself and alas because she's a permanent resident alien they got a delay. Eventually the shop owner just told me to fill out the paperwork so we could bring it home.
She didn't even look at it till tonight after 2 days.
Alas I was playing with it showing her how it works and I'm blown away how slick this thing works and cycles. The lever is so smooth and the trigger is perfect. It's real solid actually kind of heavier than it appears. Beautiful little rifle and I think she's going to love it. I'll work at hanging it on the wall tomorrow next to it's big brother.

We took the American Beauty out in May while over at the lake. It's a keeper, slickest lever action I've ever held and plumb accurate. Wife is pleased.

That's really nice. The commander makes a perfect carry gun in my feeble small opinion. Just that little bit shorter barrel makes a ton of difference to me.
I think a lot of us feel the same way Colonel.
Nice pistola Wavy, and welcome to the board!

Thanks, fellers. Yes, it's a beaut but I shoot it a lot and carry it a good bit of the time, especially during flannel shirt (cover) season, which is about 7 months/year here.
I agree that the 4.25" barrel and much lighter weight (30 oz) than a government model makes all the difference for carry.
You mention something that to me is the silver lining of the Fall season. Wearing heavier shirts means we can carry larger guns :o)

That is beautiful Wavygravy, about 4 years ago I had a gun shop install night sights on a M&P .40 that I was really having a hard time trying to like and when I picked it up I noticed they had two very pretty blued Colt .1911 pistols in the case, one a Commander and the other a Government model……Both had original size safety levers, long triggers and back straps like Mr. Browning designed them……I paid for my M&P sight work and about half way home when I couldn’t stop thinking about those Colts I turned around and went back to trade for the Commander…..I lost a ton of money doing it but I’m happy I did because every real handgun loving red blooded American needs a Colt 1911 and while mine is nothing fancy, it has found a forever home……..My only regret is that I didn’t buy the full size Government model they had in the case to go along with it……..

There ya go, 2 is 1 and 1 is none or something like that. I love my Governments but the Commanders carry so much nicer, just that 3/4" makes a world of difference. Perhaps if I was vertical it wouldn't matter so much but sitting full time that barrel gets in the way. I'd carry the government all the time if it worked better. Still do pretty often.

I also have a colt 04840WC like Wavygravy has . I was not looking for this pistol when I stopped by our general store but ended up helping our shop owner straight'n up his firearm stock room and found this misplaced colt box dated from December 2015 that fell back behind a bunch of glucks for at some point so the owner checked his cost and solid it to me for a ffl fee over his cost . Its been finally been my my daily carry for 3 years now .
Still have a ct45 running with 1911 mags since july 2015 but its only been my foul weather carry . I did call kahrs costomer service and ask if the ct45 was 45 super capable and was told after some input for others that it was . Anyhow no long expect much of anything new out of kahr after the long slide ported barrel optic ready debacle but I was told something might be coming ?

I'd love to add a Colt Lightweight Commander to my wardrobe. I have several government models (prior to the flood) but the commander size for some reason carries much nicer for me sitting full time. Just that tiny little bit shorter barrel makes a difference. I only had a couple of the commander size (prior to the boat incident). I do love the government size but again the commander carries nice and a light weight would be even better yet.
I know many of the big name shooter dudes practice with steel guns and carry lightweights. Some shoot so much they practice with 9's and carry 45's, easier on the hands and wrist.

Started CC'n with officer model back in'88 in south west forida and my first 1911 was a mixed parts number agentine 1927 and learn to tune mags back then . Guess 1911's are why I dislike a gluck and so found of 18* grip angles for carry . Also have 18 years using a comp-tac neutral and now a mtac . It just feels natural . And its hard for me to still find any love for kahr arms today . Might check back in a couple months .

I never thought a 22 could be so sexy! (From Eagle Grips website). I woulda tightened up the tape up job beneath the take down/slide stop (needed a little contour to match the frames lines) before the bead blasting, but pure beauty to me otherwise.
