Pulled my nearly new PM40 out of the Nemesis holster in my pocket today and discovered that the front sight dot has disappeared. The shallow dimple left behind does not look like it would be much help in painting on a nice, round replacement dot.

Unless you plan to install sights on Kahrs on a regular basis I'd not spend a dime on a sight pusher. Since it's new you can probably get hold of Kahr, let them know what happened and what you want to do. I suspect they would cut you a deal on installation and an upgraded sight since the original went bad. If you send the slide only the shipping to them is cheap.

This of course assumes that you want to change the front sight. Take a little alcohol (the rubbing kind), clean that little pocket out, let dry, then take some appliance paint, spray into a bag (outside), while the paint is still wet take a tooth pick and fill that dot back in. If you want to change colors, then a good engine enamel (I prefer the most obnoxious green I can find) will do nicely. I have yet to have that method come off, even when I had my 1911 parkerized. The dots I had re-colored we still there, just not as bright, after that. A can of that stuff will last many many sights (I have yet to run out), and is CHEAP. I also did the front ramp on my little Taurus like that, and sealed it with clear fingernail polish, it's still bright and green. Holds up well too.

This is a VERY common problem on the old S&W M&P sites. Happened to both of my M&Ps with standard sites. The solution? White nail polish.
Use a tooth pick, get it really mixed up, hold the tooth pick vertical over the site indent then drip polish down the toothpick until a drop falls into the divit. It looked better than the factory white on the other dots so I scraped them out and replaced them with nail polish too.
jlottmc- I used white enamel on the first gun, I think the nail polish is just easier to work with.

I have done the nail polish before, and it was ok. I seem to remember it coming off after about the 5th or 6th cleaning though (yes I clean my sights too). I was most satisfied with the green engine enamel, though the nail polish is good in a hurry. I could be wrong about why I quit using the nail polish, my memory there is a bit fuzzy (ok hairy) there though. I may not have de-greased the areas under the nail polish well now that I think about it. Either way it works.
Ninjatarian, where have you been hiding, haven't seen you around lately?

I work overnights now and have just been busy. My friend got his permit the other day and I made him go buy a Kahr. In fact I shopped for it alone and put a down payment on it for him without him even there.

Frustrating. Could you use a glow in the dark paint? I thought I saw this in a gun catalog. I don't know how well it works. I saw the discussion on paint material and it's just a thought. Google it perhaps.

Actually thinking about white dotting my M&P night sites. They M&P night sites suck compared to the Kahr ones. The tritium dots aren't as large or as bright and the white around them isn't nearly as large or noticeable for day time range shooting.
