I bought a CW9 last week, and finally got to the range today. I put about 180 rounds of varies bullet weights and brands with a hitch. I also tried a few 147 gr Gold Dot hollow points and some 124 gr Winchester bonded +P's, also without a single problem.

I guess I am posting this for those who come here looking for input the pistol. I only have two problems with it with the first being that the magazine does not drop free. The second is the trigger guard which is bent in below the trigger it pinches my finger some when the trigger is depressed, but its only a slight discomfort.

Anyhow I am extremely happy with this little pistol especially after dealing with $1200 1911 pistols that dont want to lock back and is picky about ammo!

My mags did not drop freely at first either, but with some use they now drop free (short break-in period I am assuming). I dont know if anyone else can attest to that, however that is my experience. As for your finger being pinched, I do not have this problem, so I cannot relate. Like you I am extrmely satisfied with my CW9 and I tell everyone. :D

My mags did not drop free all the time at first and still do get stuck every now and again. I only have 200 rounds down it though, but it has gotten a lot butter. my mag issue is the button getting stuck, not really the mag not wanting to drop. its getting better with time though.

If it is a loaded mag, the Kahr is designed that way, so an accidental bump on the mag release will not dump a loaded mag....on a empty magazine, it does fall free after cycling it for a while.

Well, I am carrying this little pistol now. I actually shot better with this than my full size pistol from a different company! I have about 325-350 rounds through it with the only problem so far is that first round not wanting to chamber. It just goes nose first into the ramp!

Thanks for posting the positive report. We need the good along with the bad to show folks that they are great pistols, and like any other manufacturer a bad one slips out now and then. Keep shooting it, it should only get better as you get used to it. Oh, and welcome to the forum usmcnewdog! I take it your a marine, and wish to thank you for your service to our country. You guys are awesome.

using the slide release to load that first round? If not u should until u get the hang of hand racking a kahr. they are tight and it will smooth out alot with more rounds down range but in the mean time kahr tells one right in the owners manual TO USE THE SLIDE RELEASE LEVER to load that first round.

Welcome, usmcnewdog, and thanks for your service! I too experienced the finger pinch on my CW9. I have short, fat fingers and this is my first semi-auto in a long time, but lot's of DA revolver shooting. I made a conscious effort to use the first pad (almost to the finger tip) and attained acceptable trigger control and no pinching. I'll go out on a limb and state this is the best, most useful and most enjoyable handgun I've owned, from a long line of Smith revolvers, Rugers, Contenders, XP100 and an old clunker surplus 1911. Hope you enjoy yours.

When you load the mag, make sure the last round is pointed up and NOT down. I had that happen but it was operator error.

Hmmm...it wasnt the round in the mag, I guess I missed that part in the manual! I just used the slide release three times on a full mag with no problems chambering the first round! I tried once pulling the slide and the round nosed into the ramp again, so its fixed (or I am)!!
Thanks Folks!

no as u and the gun get mated up more u will be able to hand rack with ease, but I would suggest for range use, 50-50. If u fail at the range hand racking no big deal. U also never gonna know how good you can get until u do it either. The gun itself will not loosen up alot but it will smooth up alot which will help hand racking. And also recoil springs will take a set and it will help in hand racking alot to. I could not hand rack my PM9 at first no problem at all took me a long time to hand rack my small p380 andnow can do 90% of the time to. I tend to use the slide release lever more on the P380, for I know it works right.
