Howdy from a noob! I've been lurking for awhile. Finally bit the bullet and ordered a PM9094N from my local store. It seems no dealers have them in stock. I was wondering if anyone, in the know, has information as to when KAHR will begin production of the black slides?

Also, regarding price. Bud's $637, GT Dist $628, local $640. Do the KAHR prices continually go up? Or could one expect to see a price decrease on new production models?:o

I think I got a fair price from my dealer?
$640-PM9094N
$150-CT LG437
$ 28-per mag. 2/6 rnd (MK620) and 2/7rnd (MK720)
$900 even. Cash or credit

That is a good deal. I paid 830$ for the Mass compliant model with night sights. So your getting a good deal. I would jump on it

Hi lurker,
I am guessing things have not changed much. I found the same thing when I purchased my PM4044N last year. The shiny model was readily available but the black model with the diamond kote was more difficult to locate with night sights. I did some haggling with a few local dealers and I ended up paying about $20 more for my 40 than what you are saying that you paid for your 9. My price included all my paperwork to register with the state and feds. I was pretty happy with the price and would use the same dealer again (nice guy), but I waited several weeks for delivery. It was worth it. Very happy with the PM40. You got a good price and it sounds like you already ordered?

Remember the gun is supposed to come with a 6 and 7 round mag stock. You should not have to pay for those.

I agree with Jocko, those prices sound good. I paid $710 for a non-night sight model from the retailer down the street.

Thanks for the feedback. I have already ordered and offered to pay upfront. The dealer said it wasn't needed due to the fact that the gun would sell if I backed out of the deal. Stopped in today and the word is 3-4 weeks for delivery. I didn't think about the registration fees and whatever else it takes to get it out the door---next time. And that's one thing y'all know about. There will be a next time.:biggrin1:

I stillhave my receipt on my pM9 with night sightes in dlc finish, that I bought overf 4+ years ago. $575 out the door from a very small but totally honest dealer aobut 20 miles from where I live. He was in business selling guns when I was and believe it or not we use dto call each other if a customer was wanting a gun that we did not have in the case. He cuyts me a great price every time and i never ask either. I will support my local dealers anytimne if they are honest to not onlyt me but to all. Hell they have to make a living and they can't sell 10% over cost and stay in business. I know that and you know that. We all gotta eat..

I agree 100%. I'm a big fan of supporting any local business. Up to a point. I checked my dealers price on WWB. $20 for a 50 rnd box. I had just come from Walmart and their price today was $23 for 100. I'm going to get 4 boxes--guess where? I'll check with my dealer first and see if he can get close on the price. If so, I'll stick with him.

jocko,
I have your prep instructions printed out. Thanks to you and all the other forum members who give such good and useful information.

PS- WWB for the range and Speer Gold Dot SB 124g or Federal HST 147g for SD sound ok? Thanks

Yap, a good deal. I've seen the gun for only a few dollars less, and usually a lot more for the magazines. All in all... take it all together, as my buddy Ron would say "You done well, son!"

That's the same price I'm seeing locally (SE Michigan) from 2 dealers. I'm looking for better. Local Cabelas is $770!

What's this about paperwork fees? I've only bought a couple of handguns but I've never paid any paperwork fees. I'm in Michigan. Is this something new? Something local to you?

I bought my PM9 with night sights at a LGS. Problem in my state is a 50$ fee for collection of a slug and a piece of brass --- that the State Police have already said is a wast of time and money and hasn't solved a single crime. Makes the POLs look good in the eyes of SOME (but not all) voters, but only wastes taxpayers money.

FYI when I asked the local dealer about delivery dates on a Black PM9 or PM40 he said they are currently unavailable and it's unknown when they would be available. Too bad, I'm ready to buy. I just need to decide which one.

I've read some people have had issues (semi) recently with the durability of the Kahrs black finish (other's haven't had a problem), not sure what/if anything has changed, but if there are issues, might be better off getting a stainless and sending it out to be refinished aftermarket, realize if you only send the slide, your trigger will still be "silver", (not that you can't buy a black trigger) but still.

absolute guarantee that the aFTER MARKET PEOPLE refinsih work will not be subject to mistakes in workmanship. Most kahrs dlc finsih is tuff as nails but lately we have read of some with very light finish. Kahr does not do the dlc work. It has to be applied during the heat treating process of the slide itself, so more than likely they don't know they have a bad slide until it gets into the hands of the owners who use them. I have not read of kahr hassling an owner with a slide finish complaint, so they are aware that they have some light finished slides floating around out there and so far from what I have read, thoose who sent their slides back returned with a new slide. Kahr does not refinish the original slide, as the process of the dlc is put on when the heat treating process is being done tot he slide. (so they tell mer anyhow). That process when done properly rockwells in hardness about 3X what the actual rockwell is of the stainless slide.

Interesting factoids on that finish... good to know.

Been toting the PM45 in my front pocket, no holster... no issues yet.

NOt telling anyone what to do. it is personal choice. I pocket carry my PM9 24/7IN A HOSLTER.A finish on a gun is just that a finish. don't ever expect it to wear like a solid stainless slide. In time it will show some wear, certainly a finsih like the glock tennifer and the kahr dlc will wear longer but in time wear spots willshow up. Just the nature of the beast..

Agreed, I wouldn't carry in a pocket without some kind of holster. Nice thing about pocket holsters, they don't have to be expensive to be functional
(I even remember reading about someone who made their own out of a plastic milk container...lol), but To Each Their Own.

Also very true, any finish is going to wear at some point, and that's one of the reason's I like stainless on slides, as while the "shine" may dull some, the wear typically isn't very noticeable.

Besides, on anything other then a BBQ gun, who really cares! :001_tt2:
