Given every pistol is unique and people prefer heavier/lighter rounds, which ammunition is very reliable and accurate in a CW9?

kahrs are not ammo sensitive at all, accuracy is in the hands of the shooter.
Mine eats +P hollow points and light reloads with out any mulfanction, even during the break in period and without any special preping- just well lubricated with light oil.

Mine has eaten, digested and evacuated all of the rounds that have been put down its throat. That includes my reloads which it gets a steady diet of.
I prefer the 125 grain bullets but also have some 147s.

I will tell you what my Kahr doesn't like.. PPU rounds.. garbage.. My XD has never flinched on anything except those.. I have recently started shooting reloads and it seems to be fine with those as well.

I haven't been able to get my CW9 to fail with any brand I've thrown at it, although I'll admit I haven't tried to feed it steel-cased Russian stuff yet.

Mine does great with Winchester White Box for target shooting and Federal Premium HP for CC duty and occasinional range use. Both in the same grain.

I carry Remington Golden Sabers 124gr +P
But to just shoot, anything that is on sale. I have not found anything that mine does not like either.

Ok, the group response seems to indicate the CW9 will feed anything up to, and maybe including, LEGO blocks.
A few have indicated prefereneces for ammo - Critical Defense, Golden Sabers, etc.
Did you base those on personal preference or compare different brands for accuracy in your particular weapon?
I'd like to know your experience.
Thanks,
kcman

Speaking only for myself here, I tend to buy the cheapest brass-cased ammo for plinking that I can find. I have always found my CW9 to be more accurate than I at the 25 feet I typically shoot to (this thing makes me frighteningly accurate too, and I'm not even that great of a shot). So the el cheapo ammo is what I buy. I've fed my CW9 Remington UMC, PMC Bronze, Winchester White Box, this weird Swiss Dynamit Nobel Geco stuff that's hella cheap (http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_info.php/pName/50rds-9mm-dynamit-nobel-geco-124gr-fmj-ammo/cName/9mm-fmj-ammo) (seriously, you can get crappy Tula for the same price), BVAC, Blazer Brass, and Federal American Eagle. No problems with any of them, and at 25 feet, I haven't seen any perceptible differences in accuracy (they're all ragged-hole accurate), so I go with what I can get cheapest when I look online.

I talked to Kahr just last Thursday about a premature slide lock back problem with my PM9 using Black Hills 124 +P HP (which has been my SD ammo in my Glock for many years). I was told not to use Black Hills ammo. This is factory new not re-manufactured but I had failed to mention that to Kahr.

bill K. if ur using blackhills 124 hp. is it hitting on the inside of the slide lock lever. other wise it should go bang every time. Kahr needs to elaborate on WHY NOT TO USE such and such. especialy for premature slide lock.
Ihave no doubt if that ammo is not hitting that slide lock which IMO being a 124 grain, it should not, as that is what kahr tests their guns with 124 grain ammo, Probably not black hills but unless that bullet is just so totally out of proportion to most all other 124 grain bullets, it should work. Factory refurbished or not that ammo should work OK.
Have u checked that part out to see if it is hitting??

Just joined the forum. To relate to this topic, I'd like to seek advice on getting my CW9 to function as well as many as some of the rest of yours. Not sure if I shold start my own thread...
Anyway, I have had such problems with failure to fires, that is, the striker hits the primer but it doesn't go off. Mostly cheaper ammo does this at a rate of less than 50% actually fire, but WWB has the best rate at about 95%. It irritates me I must have gotten the one lemon, because when it does fire, it's a tack driver. I sent it to Kahr, they couldn't get it to fail to fire, but they did use expensive quality ammo. Too pricey for me to just practice with at the range to find out if it is reliable with those. Kahr's recommendation was to only shoot ammo that will fire every time. so, since they can't find anything wrong, I need ideas getting it to be reliable with target ammo lie everyone else.

Spray that clean out in the striker channel out. See the proper prep sticky in the tech section. That is the most likely culprit. Next most likely, weak striker spring, but those are rare. I'd clean that channel, and if needed take the slide down, that should do it for those light strikes.

Yea, I stripped it down to the striker and cleaned everything I could find, unless I missed something. I don't understand "take the slide down", tho'. I'll take a trip to the tech section.

There should be a thread deep in the archives to show you how to take down the slide. Search for the c-clamp tool, or made my own tool or something like that.
http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=5269&highlight=slide I think that is pretty close to what I was gunning for.

Sorry, didn't wrap my head around that. Like I said, I already stripped it down to the striker level or as you said "take the slide down". I've seen all the videos and manuals for doing that. I guess I'll just try a new striker spring.
Sorry you shouldn't have to do that either 06. Send it back to Kahr and make them fix it.

Anyone shoot the Winchester Ranger 127gr +P+ ammo in the CW9?

06 try a new striker spring, call kahr they will send you one no charge, explain to them what is going on first. Last resort is to send it back. I would doubt if it is the striker spring but also it might save alot of time if that works OK. Be sure that striker channel is perfectly clean, that little clean out hole on the bottom of your slide will allow u to do that.
if you have not refered the the kahr tech section ad hit on the propper prepping of your new kahr, u need to.
Light strikes are a sign of a gun that is out of time. when talking to kahr ask about a new recoil spring to go with the striker spring, they might indeed send you one of those to.
