Hi,
Had my 2nd outing too shoot my next 100 break-in rounds and try out my SD ammo. SD ammo that I carry in my Glock is Black Hills 124 grain +P.
Issue #1, 7 Round Mag.: About 1/3 the time mag would feed, fire and extract two rounds and then slide would lock about halfway back. Tried a no pinky grip, tried gorilla grip, one hand, etc.. Didn't matter, when the issue happens there is always 5 remaining rounds in the mag. Tried with top off or no top off just wouldn't like that third round. Lock slide back re-insert mag with now five rounds and all would fire each and every time.
Issue #2, SD Ammo: Also about 1/3 the time chambered round would fire, extract and eject but slide would lock fully. Looks like the same deal as in this Title over on the Tech sub-forum... PM9 Locked Slide Problem -- pics of why
I'm not bummed out, it is what it is. Called Kahr and got feedback from them. Can you guess how Kahr advised me on these two issues? I'll share after a few response.
Thanks,
Bill K.

Shoot it some more and get back to us?
Your bullets are hitting the slide lock, regardless of what they told you. It's exactly the same thing as the other thread you mention.
Break out the fine file.

assuming this is happening with the 7 round magaqzine and not the 6 round magazine???/Is this right:
question #2. pull the slide, reinsert the slide lock lever, now reinsert a loaded magazine with the problem rounds and see if they are hitting on the left side of the frame and pushingup that slide stop lever. If so call kahr, ask for Jay ad explain fully, He should send u a new slide stop lever. If he does that , the as in previous posts, get a small fine file and file backthat jub just a tad and retest with slide off and loaded magazine until clearanceis obtained. Then proceed to shoot it like u stole it. Very strange that in the past week we have read of a few PM's doing this.. I would say kahrs comment was something like insert nose up ur ass and blow hard...and then get back to us ..

Here's what I'd like to hear them say, "Yes, we've determined we had a run of slide stops that were slightly out of spec. This was brought to our attention by members of KahrTalk. These members called in the problem but we already knew because in order to stay abreast of what's happening with our users we monitor the forums on a daily basis. We have slide stops that are in tolerance in stock and we're proactively sending them to each member of the forum that has posted they have an issue."
...but I doubt that is how the conversation went.

I'm doubting they're offering a refund of all of the money I've wasted on range time and ammo, going back and forth with a file again and again, trying to get off 200 consecutive rounds.

:001_huh: *YAWN!* Any day now, Bill K, it's been a few responses. Please don't let this be as anti-climactic as the last time we had to wait for a follow-up posting. (If I remember right, for an overpriced MA-compliant PM9). Here's my guess: They offered you a free PM9, straight up plus a lifetime of ammo.

Man, I gotta tell you, I am disappointed with the problems I and others are having with these guns. When Kahr send out a gun that is obviously for self-defense, it should be ready to go.
When I called Kahr about the problems with my seven round magazine (4 FTFs in 100 rounds), I was told to adjust my grip. That's no answer, IMO. My grip is my grip. In an SD situation, I'm not going to be thinking about adjusting my grip. The gun just has to work, period, every time. If I was running Kahr, I would stop including these seven round magazines with PM9s before somebody gets killed because they didn't have the experience or knowledge to know the gun and magazines needed to be tested before carried and relied upon. Even if they just included a single, reliable six round magazine, that would be better than including a magazine with a known flaw, and possibly getting someone hurt or killed.
Same with the 124 grain ammo. It is not unreasonable for a consumer to expect he can carry 124 grain self defense ammo in his self defense gun. I really think Kahr is dropping the ball with these design/quality control issues. These are serious problems involving serious tools and peoples' lives depend on the gun's reliability.

As far as I'm concerned, where they are dropping to ball is offering the extended mag in the first place. It seems that in my reading on the PM9 at least 80% of the problems involve the 7 round mag. I never had the first problem with a CW9, CW45, or PM45, but of course none of these had an extended mag. If you think you need more than six, carry a spare. I ordered my PM9 with two six rounders, and I hope it comes that way. If not, I'll sent back the 7 round mag for an exchange.

Got the PM9 yesterday, shot 125rd today using both mags, not a single problem, Ikept hearing about the extended mag and I was very leary about using it, but I like it....

THATS THE WAY THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO WRK. Good for you and great for kahrs.
I sometimes think the issues with the 7 round magis how one grips that extened portion of the magazine. Not the shooters fault either, just that some grip entirely different. Just my theory. Probably holds no more water than a sieve..

OK Folks, here in my words is how it went [loose quotes]...
Issue #1: "Pinky pressure on the 7 round magazine will sometimes cause that to happen." I explained that I considered that and changed my grip so pinky was off both using a two hand and one hand grip, yet it would still sometimes happen. Also use a very tight grip and sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn't happen. "OK, send it in with a note attached and a return address and we will replace the magazine."
I'm fine with this and will try to get it shipped later today. I'm going to ask for a 6 round replacement like someone suggested on another thread.
Issue #2: "Don't use Black Hills ammo." I asked if the issue might be cause by using +P. "You can use +P with your Kahr."
Not happy with this answer/advise but maybe Jay thought the Black Hills were factory reloads? I should have made sure that he understood that this was fresh ammo not re-manufactured.
I have 100 rounds of RWS 124 grain standard pressure ball ammo that I'm going to try next time out. I'm thinking it is the mag catch issue with longer (or is it taller) ammo. My break-in ammo was all 115 grain so maybe that's why I didn't have the problem shooting that ammo. I don't believe this to be a break-in issue so if problem persists I'll give another call to Kahr.
Let it be known that I'm not soured on this gun, stuff happens. You don't want to hear the number of issues I had and how long it took me to get my first P3AT to run reliably. :)

I sent an e-mail to Kahr with links to some of the threads here and some additional pics. Jay responded and said they were shipping me a new slide-stop lever for my new PM9.
That is good service.
Once armed with the new slide-lock lever, I'll test it, then start tweaking the old one to see if I can get it into spec to work.

Carl,
I've written in my letter going out with the magazine mentioning Karhtalk posts and asking for a replacement slide lock lever. Jay didn't offer one in my consultation with him yesterday but perhaps ifin Kahr believes there is a real issue here they'll honor my request.
Again, stuff like this happens maybe because of a CNC machine going out of tolerance or some such thing. If Kahr takes care of me without much of a hassle then they gain my respect and loyalty.
Thanks,
Bill K.

All these malfunctions everybody is having are hell on resale value. My BIL bought a used pm9 the same day as I did, he can not get any decent offers for it. Everybody says they are only worth 350.00 to 400.00. He paid 500.00 for it so it appears he is going to lose his ass trying to sell it.
I am getting disgusted at the lack of parts/accessories from places other then Kahr myself.
Had the same issue with the 7rd mag as everyone else so I called Kahr and asked for replacement.
They said just send in 7rd with note and about 10 days later I received a new 6 rd mag. It has worked flawlessly.
I like the 6rd mag better than the 7 for CC anyway and hopefully 12 rds will be enough to fight my way to a battle rifle.

considering one can buy a PM9 most anywhere for around $575. selling a used one for around $400 is about right MSRP is only a startting point, If you pay MSRP your gonna take a loss no matter.
Frommy standpoing, my pMK9 has been flawless out of the boxc and most big kahrs have been that way. I have had mine for over 4 years with over 30,000 rounds through it, Ihave put some custom work into it but I would not take $1500 for it today. Certainly a dealer is going to offer me no more for it on trade than a normal PM9 either, probalby even less for he they will nit pick the custom work as frivilous.
Ur just gonna readof issues about any gun on any gun forum more than no issues on any gun forum, that is just the nature of people to. They report what doesn't pleases them far more than what pleases them. Kahrs are great guns, their service is exdellent, their turn around time is super, but when you get a lemon it is a lemon and you can't be happy PERIOD. Very understandable IMO. If you love the product,k then give the company a shot at making it right, if they don't doit right, simply Peddle it and move on . Once you lose fairth in ANY product, it normally never comes back . you willnot be the first kahr owner to peddle his gun for reasons of your ow, nor would you be the firsrt glock, kimbert, sig owner either. If my kahr breaks tomorrow, I WILLFIX IT and continue on, nothing lasts forever, so they say..
