Anyone have experience mounting a "grip pod" on a rifle that don't have provision for one? I am trying to say....I want to put a Grip Pod on my Ruger Mini 30. My thought is to remove stock and drill holes to attach a mini rail for it to mount to. Will this work on synthetic stock without making stock to weak?

I've not done a Mini 30 before but I would sure think it would work. I'd probably try to keep enough rail length that I could get at least 3 or even 4 attaching screws. Might even allow you to hang a light in front of the broom handle. I'm not sure how to handle the metal liner in the stock, imagine you could go right thru it with a shallow headed screw. Not alot of material there to countersink. Maybe the synthetic stocks don't have the liner either. Mine are all wood.
For even more strength a guy could bolt and acraglas the rail on. That would add strength if anything. Even mix it up black to match.

Here is the rail I was thinking of, 2 1/2"s long.
