Ok so it appears the CW45 is finally broken in and ready to defend the homestead. What laser do you all recommend? I have looked at the Crimson Trace and the Laserlyte. I think I like the laserlyte but want to know what you all think.

CT is one of our forum advertisers and supporters. I can say from just reading about CT owners on this forum, they standbehind their product 110%. Haveno dog in the fight with either, as I have not read any negatives on laserlyte.

I like the CT, but wonder about how sensitive the actuator is. While practicing at the range I would like to not have the laser activated. I think the laserlyte would allow for that. On the other hand not having to turn the laser on, IE trying to find the on switch with the laserlyte, in an emergency situation is a selling point for the CT.

I've heard that some put a little piece of tape over the laser when they want to practice without it.
I'm pondering a CT myself but still in the thinking and planning stages IE: waiting for my ship to come in.
Excellent training aid and a nice thing on a small gun like Kahrs.

Crimson Trace for sure gets my vote. I have CT lasers on 3 of my pistols, I guess you could say I like them.

That's what I do when I want to practice without the CT. Nice thing is, the ranges around here all have loads of masking tape for the targets. I didn't feel right qualifying for my CCW with my CT on, so I put the tape on and shot my 100. The PM9 did me very well, even without the CT, shot top in the class of 25. Thought for sure the guys with the nice full size 1911's would do way better than they did.

Stop pondering and just get it, you won't regret it. Probably should wait until after the government gets its "fair" share though (sorry Bawanna).

So I guess I should go for the CT......now just have to find the right price. I really wish viridian made one, have one for my Ruger and it is just outstanding.

Check out e-bay. Type in Kahr 45 and you'll find CT lasers for about $165, best price I've found anywhere.
For those of you who have CT lasers - what do you do about the grips? Some have Hogue grips (like me), others have some from other vendors, while still others use the bicycle tube approach. I'm assuming these don't fit right with grips on - do you cut a notch for the CT laser base? How well does that work if so?

Just punch a small hole for the bump of the switch. I use punches like this.
http://www.amazon.com/Hollow-Hole-Punch-Small-Sizes/dp/B0002T87RC
Just pull the sleeve over top of the laser base to where you normally put it , mark the "bump" with a pen, Then remove the sleeve and with a small piece of wood for a backer punch the hole. Then reinstall. It will blend in the laser switch to the grip nicely.
If you cut a square out of it, it will not fit well (loose)at the top and also will tear easily.

I'm not sure why there is no on/off switch for the CTL, very annoying for range days in my opinion. Other than that, I'm pleased with it.

I'd get the Crimson Trace. They have a $50 rebate going on right now. I just put one on my CW45. It's very hard to grip without activating the laser, but as was said, and small piece of masking tape will take care of that. You can also stick your middle finger along the bottom of the trigger guard, but that doesn't feel to good.
It was very easy to install, 2 screws, and was very easy to get it aligned with the sights, with the red dot sitting right on top of my front sight. ONE THING..... Holsters... hard to find much of a selection. I happened to have an Uncle Mikes Size 15 IWB "pouch" more than a holster, but it holds the CW45 and CTL very well. I'm looking for an OWB holster for the combo and have yet to find one. The Kahr shop has a Mitch Rosen for the P45, might have to order that and do cut the barrel end off (Can't tell if it's open ended or not) to accomodate the longer slide on the CW45 or maybe it will fit ok, hard to say looking at pictures. They also have them for the CW40/CW9. I'm not sure they'd stretch enough for the CW45.

Hey morganw, pop a small piece of masking tape over your CTL lense at the shooting range. Masking tape is free and usually readily available in bulk at any respectable shooting range. As for the "no on/off switch" for the CTL, I personally am thankful for that feature. It will be always on (and not accidentally off) when and if I absolutely need.

I know its an easy fix, just a convenience thing for me. Mainly for battery consumption. When I'm traveling through states that don't honor my CHL, my range box sometimes sets the laser off accidentally.

Hey Pa Kahr,
I did find a site that lists a few more holster that are supposed to fit a CW45 with the Crimson Trace Laser. It's at:
http://www.kahr.biz/PA-2A.html
There's not a whole lot of them, but more of a selection than I have seen in one place.

Thanks for the info...will probably get the CTL with the tax return money...may have to look into the holsters...but I am leaning towards using this primarly for HD...looking at a 9mm for daily carry. Really wish viridian made one for the cw 45, the one for my Ruger SR9 is in a word awesome.

While practicing at the range I would like to not have the laser activated.
This is my biggest complaint about the CT, cant turn it off. Couldnt be any more pleased with the performance and feel though.

I was able to lift my middle finger off the button and turn off the laser and shoot some rounds the other day Pa. Sure felt weird, but it was doable. Next time going to try to remember to bring some masking tape with me to cover the lens,
