FOR THE OLD STYLE BLUNT NOSE PM9 AND PM40 OWNERS ONLY(u other guys get lost)

now sure if even anyone is interested but today I was bored so I thought I would install the ENTIRE TWO SPRINGS set up on my PM9 recoil rod assembly with the 20.5# wolffs spring set.

Very easy to do:

Take two peaces of wood and insert the flange (flat portion) of the recoil rod between them and put in a vice and tighten the hell out of it. U can't damage that flange this way as it is inbedded in the wood. Then with a pair of vice grips just unscrew that end cap and the inner spring will come right out. Clean the threads on the rod and the end cap and reinstall the new wolffs inner spring and if you have red or the ultra strong green locktite put it on the threads and reinstall the end cap and tighten back on. Install the outter 20.5# spring with open and then be prepared to fight it some to get it back in place in the slide. This dude is tight/strong.. Once on, and back on the gun, then just rack the slide a couple of hundred times and it will take a set and after leaving the thread locker to dry overnite, just take it out and shoot it like u stole it.

Once you do all of this IMO from now on just replace the outter wolffs recoil spring and be done with it. This will be the same for the PM40 also. CAUTION; THIS SET UP FROM WOLFFS ONLY FITS THE OLD STYLE BLUNT NOSE PM9 AND PM40.:001_tt2:

PS. I would recommend red locktite but the green ultra strong locktite is designed to penetrate between the threads which means you can thread on the end cap and then just put the green on the cap and it will seep between the threads. This stuff is a real bit-h to get off and heat would be required for the green, where as the red will unscrew off easily..

Jocko, that procedure should be about the same for all of them. The new ones are only a hair longer, and should have the same procedure to take them apart. Only thing I wonder about is Wolffs stocking the longer springs. BTW, I'm still waiting for 45 springs at all nevermind the heavy ones that I like from them.

ur dead right and what I was wanting to relate to the PM9 and PM40 owners that ifyou have the new style beveled slide, RIGHT NOW WOLFFS MAKES NO 20.5# SPRING KITS. I am sure they will but it seems to take them a year plus to get around to it. Just like the kahr 45 springs. right now wolffs makes none but I would think we should be seeing them soon, although, so far we have not seen any cw spring kits and this gun has been out for at least 5 years, so one never knows how wolffs operates..

Just to let the PM9 and PM40 owners know Wolff told me their recoil springs will function on the longer slide. I installed the 20.5# recoil on my pM9 long slide and have fired over 400 rns and it runs perfect.

well thats certainly good news. Strange but good news.

The only difference in the recoil assemblies is two more coils on the outer spring for the long slide.

that is really alot of change though. The longer spring will not fit in the short PM9 slide. No doubt the shorter spring will fit in the longer slide BUT will it work properly??? My thoughts are that if the shorter recoil spring will work in both slides, then why would have kahr had a longer recoil spring for the new style slides. I want to believe what the wolff's tech people told one of our members but I wonder if wolff's even know of a difference in PM9 slide lenghts yet??? I am checking on it..

When I spoke with them I mentioned the new slides and he knew about it. He also said he has not touched a PM45.

u think ith the shorter recoil spring in the longer slide that quite possably one could get failure to return to battery???:israel:

Forgot to mention at last nights rapid fire class I ripped off 110 rnds from the PM45, 130 rnds from the PM9 and 130 rnds from the XD9sc in about 90 min. time with ZERO malfunctions. I should have taken the P380, oh well next time. The guy in the next lane had numerous fail to feed the first round, from 3 different mags, with a Glock 36.

I was all smiles.

Jocko,
No problem with return to battery. It just works fine. I now have over 2600 rnds thru the PM9 with Zero malfunctions of any kind, even when new. I did not perform any prep when new.

I call it a boring pistol, point-pull trigger-repeat.

being the case, I wold thijnk tghen the 20.5# springs would be ideal even.:israel:

Need ventilation and away from flame but it is better than heat in my opinion. It also cleans the threads for the re-installation job.

what do u do, just apply it and let it seap in the threads???

Exactly. A few seconds after application turn the screw but don't force it overly hard. If still stuck put another dab and turn. Mine broke loose with very little effort and I used a paper towel to wipe off the acetone and locktite.
