Now that the CM9 is shipping, I would like to hear how many members want one? And why you picked it?
I already have the very good CW9.... I Don't really NEED another pistol, but I am almost 100% sure I am going to get one anyway.:D
In my case I want it for only one reason, pocket carry... I love my CW9 for IWB carry. And I think it actually is a better all around gun in many ways in that it provides a full 3 finger grip for better control, maybe a little less felt recoil??? I would think that extra grip aids in easier draws and mag changes, and It has a longer barrel for better sighting and higher velocity.
but I am now looking for a 9mm pocket carry gun that will take the place of my LCP that I have become very spoiled by because of the ease of carry it provides. But wish for the power of the 9mm instead of .380.(and better sights, trigger, finish, quality, accuracy, etc.)
I hope I am thinking right??? there is so much debate as to weather the PM/CM9 is a good pocket size gun on all the forums I go on that I figured I will just have to see for myself
That's my story, What are you guy's that are planning to get one thinking?
PS. Mods we need to have the CM added ASAP to one of the sub-forum's so we all can post about it in the same place.Thank's!

I'm thinking of getting one...The wife just got a CW9 for her purse carry, and I really like it a lot...not too big,not too small...I kind of like the little bit longer grip..but I've become a big fan of pocket carry as of late...Don't really know which one I'll end up with...If I decide on the CM9,I'm also wondering now if the PM9 is the better deal...I've seen a few PM9's at some really good prices, like about a hundred or so more than the CM9...So I'm thinking is the PM9 worth grabbing for the extra hundred? Decisions decisions...

the PM9/cm9 is a great pocket gun. Let no one tell you it won't ride in ur front pocket with ease. I carry 24/7 in my any brand jeans in my front pocket in a desantis. Mind u that ain't a fast draw area, but I don't have to dress to carry either. Does it print, probably somewhat but I have set with cops for years and drank coffee and never been challenged or ever asked. I have said many times, we make to much to do about this printing crap. How many times do u check a persons front pocket when u see them, sitting, walking or what ever. U just don't and if u do, some will call u a pervert to. It is just not a natural place to be looking as u well know, unless ur a pervert.

i already have a pm9, but if i didn't i would get a cm9 if i could get night sights with it. If buds sells the cm9 for 417 to the public then they would sell it for 390 to leo's and night sights are about 80 more so 460 for a brand new kahr with night sights would win in my book. I will stick with my pm9 w NS and be happy, but if i were in the market i'd look at the cm9 long and hard!

I doubt if we will see the cm9 availalbe from Kahr with night sights on them. Would be nice if they did but I think they also want to keep some differences between the cm and PM series to.. Probably won't see the dlc finish either.
Just my two cents but based on the cw series , we have never seen either of the above two offered from the factory. again would be nice if it was available though. Let the buyer pick..
Definite maybe, although... an LCR-357 for my female companion is the next purchase. She has real problems pulling back a slide, and also de-cocking a cocked revolver. I've found this to be true for many ladies, and have always advocated a shrouded hammer DA only revolver as the safest thing for them. Open it, its safe. Pull trigger, it goes bang. Very simple.

As far as the night sight thing goes I have been thinking about that too...
My thought's are this, Dawson precision sells front night sights for $49 I think a front is enough for a small pocket carry gun, it will focus you on the front sight only in dim lighting and that's really where you should be looking anyway. It won't require factory installation or a pusher like I have heard the very tight PM dove tails do, so that is a lot of savings too. Seems to me that's cheaper then you are going to get a factory installed night sighted Kahr. Even if they did offer them, which I agree with Jocko that they won't.

Are any other PM9 owners eyeing the CM9 as a backup? Or am I the only crazy one to think and ponder in this way?

I would consider one if they make it on the CA roster. The PM9 is on it and if the price goes down on those, I may have a dilema. I like my MK9 but would prefer something a bit lighter.

I don't particularly like Kahr buying slides from someone else's gun and who knows the lower, (Leggo?). I thought I bought a very well designed and manufactured gun built from the ground up in America by Americans.
To me it's a huge step backward and I've keep quiet about it until now, but I won't be buying one for sure.

Huh???? Who said that???? What the.... who busted into my account and posted that tripe above?? Maybe the voices I've been hearing lately took me over. Better check myself for some lizard skin under this pink stuff.
OK that was me, sigh. I get confused sometimes and thought this gun was something I'd read about a while back where Kahr was going to buy uppers from another company and sell it cheap. But then again, maybe it wasn't. I just don't remember right now for sure. I do remember getting bent out of shape on the thought that they would cheapen their reputation for design, etc. and it fell out of my head tonight.
Guess it's time for my warm milk and cookie and go to bed. Sorry guys.

I love the ease of carrying the P380. That being said, I would prefer at least a 9mm for every day carry. This looks like a nice way to go. I have the CW 9 and am quite happy with it, just a little too big for pocket carry.

No need to apologize, OldLincoln - it happens to the best of us (even our fearless junior moderator). I must admit though, I almost did post after reading what you said with the suggestion to ease up on the pain meds as I was thinking you were a bit out of it!! Good call on the warm milk and cookies, that does wonders. Good night, see you tomorrow with the fresh start!

Agree with all of the above comments. In addition I would add:
* Want something for the wife's purse when that is appropriate and I think the smaller size / less weight of the CM9 vs. CW9 is thus a better fit.
* I don't need/want the extra features the PM9 has to offer. Only sorta desirable thing (to me) is the second magazine. But even for that I'd rather go with a smaller 6 rounder for the CM9 over the poke-out 7 rounder extended mag that comes with the PM9.
I won't be able to buy one until the fall, at best. But I'll get there eventually. Congrats to the early-getters. Looking forward to the pictures!
I'm getting the CM9 for summer carry and as a "grab & go" gun.
My EDC is a K9 which is fine in regular colthes and a belt, but the idea of a smaller, lighter carry pistol is very appealing for running out in my sweats or ItW in shorts and a T.

Hey, Tucson; you know they have therapy for that recoil thingy?
I love my CW9 and it is just an excellent pistol for CC. I carry OWB. I've gone thru three .380s looking for a smaller, more comfortable pocket carry when my clothing does not allow OWB. They were all very disappointing, especially the POC Taurus 738. Friends should not let friends buy Taurus.
So, I'm using this rationalization to look at the CM9. I just could not rationalize the cost of a PM. I'm sure there are folks who won't have that problem, or who want the black slide or nite sights. I did consider a P-380, but after my experience with the others, I knew a 9mm would be a superior round.

One is sure not lowering himself when he buys a cm9. Because kahr has left off some costly mnachining operations and a spare magazine doesn't degrade the cm9 at all. It is the same internaly as the PM9. It will go bang every time and you can shoot that gun until thye cows come home. This is not a "shoot seldom and carry often gun" Lkke has been said many times on the kel teck forum about their guns. It is going to have the same lower bore axis as all kahrs. It willbe extremely pleasant to shoot for a 14 ounce gun. course if I bought one, after break in, it would begone for a week to magna port.

That's funny.:)
Been debating between a pm9 & p380 ever since the new wore off the p9. Now that the cm9 is out, my debating may be over.

Meh...Of the 4 Tauri in the family, we've had ZERO problems with any of them and 2 of them were purchased used with unknown prior round counts.
As for the CM9, well...MrsFlyr has a PM9 already, so while I might pick one up eventually, it isn't high on the list at this time.

Taurus seems to be closing the circle. Many years ago they started out pretty much in the junk class. They then got to a point where if you happened to get a good one your really had a good gun. Then they seemed to be more good than bad with only an occasional lemon.
Now once again it seems to be there are more (wont go so far as to say most) lemons delivered.
We went thru numerous Taurus revolvers for back up guns here (cops don't like to spend money on guns). It seems they have all been swapped and replaced with Smiths now with a few Kahrs, and a couple Taurus autos thrown in.
I wouldn't be the first to give Taurus a black eye but I'd probably have to ponder a purchase. They really have nothing that interest me currently but that could also change in the next 5 minutes. I guess the Judge might be on my long range want list........heck that wasn't even 5 seconds.

What's wrong with recoil? As for therapy, yea I probably need some, but not for that. You know how they therapute for that? They hand you a 500 mag and lots of ammo, and say don't come back till you like it. Wait, I do like it, now what?
Ok I have 3 Taurus guns in my house, I trust all of them, and carry them. They have proven reliable, and accurate. In fact the next one I buy is likely to be the 740 slim. They have come a long way in the years, and the only bunch that I know of that were lemons were the Millennium series. My 24/7's, and 651 have been great.

I bought a Taurus Tracker 44 mag back in January. It was a special run with a 6 1/2" barrel. I bought it because I wanted a relatively lightweight 44 mag to use for hunting and Taurus is the only manufacturer making one. I looked for a few months for one with a 6 1/2" barrel and finally found one NIB on GB.
When I received it there was copper fouling in the barrel from the factory test firing it. It appears that the bore is rough. It is also out of time as the cylinder does not line up with the barrel and it does not lock up tight like it should.
I called Taurus customer service and after asking several times the rep agreed for Taurus to pay the shipping back to the factory. The gun arrived at the Taurus facility in Florida on January 11 and has been there ever since. Numerous calls to customer service and I still don't know when I will get my gun or a replacement.
This is my second Taurus, the first one was a model 85 and it too was defective right out of the box. I will never buy another Taurus.
.
I plan to buy a CM9 to replace my 380 for pocket carry. I would prefer to carry my CW40 but there are times when it is difficult to conceal.

hell I get confused pretty easy any more. what is the noticeable difference in the springs. I still count 15 coils on each.
JCP281
03-30-2011, 07:03 AM
The differences I see are a 1/4 coil longer on one than the other and the top spring looks thicker, not sure if it is or not.
jocko
03-30-2011, 07:30 AM
if that shorter spring was ever on your gun, it has taken a set, other than that my bet is that they are the same. You can after a few rounds remeasure and my bet is that it will be the same length. Maybe it will help your gun get right to. That quarter coil longer really makes no difference in my opinion as once the coil makes its turn, it is a coil. you have the new belevled front slide PM and all of those now take a 15 coil spring. Kahr has not made any changes
.
Not arguing with you, as I hope it all works out OK. All springs will take a pre-designed set. recoil springs and magazine springs will both do that. I am more inclined to think they changted yourmagazine due to possably a defective magazine and I am not referring to the change in the floor plate.. Let us know when you get rounds through it..
jocko

if it works, then don;'t fix it. best method I have found. Later down the road take that new spring out and see how much it has compressed.. are u sahying the 180 grainrounds now still dwon give a full return to battery every time??. That is strange...
