Twice now, the slide locks after the very first round of the range trip. I'm using American Eagle practice rounds. I do chamber that first round with the slide stop lever as recommended. Any ideas what this could be? I keep the gun well lubed per the chart. Thanks

kinda hard to anwwer. How many rounds do you have out of the gun??? Have you made darn sure your thumb might not be hitting that slide stop lever??It happens alot anbd one doesn't eve know he is doing it. Try shooting it left handed to test out, or also let another good shooter try it, If he can duplicate, then it is not the shooter. Also have you check to see if by chance those rounds could be hitting on the inside of the slide stop lever. Go to the kahr tech section and hit on propper prepping of your new kiahr, it wll tell you how and what to look for, along with some other good tips.
U need tl elimnate the possables, and u need to give us more information. Is this slide locking every time you shoot after loading the first round by using the slide stop???If it is, you have the slide stop lever in wrong, again you just didn't give us alot of info to go on.
Keep us posted..

Problem is it only does this on the first round of the trip to the range. Yes I bought snap caps and it appears they are clearing the lever. I cannot have a friend try as this only happens the very first round of the entire session. I need to get to the range with some carry ammo and see if it locks. I've done the prep and put now over 300 rounds. My practice ammo is American Eagle 115 grain.

Always just the very first round of a session and then not again during the whole trip? Thats strange. Almost has to be your grip, somehow hitting the lock lever.

don''t check it with snaps caps fror clearance but with the rounds that are giving the issue.
next sessioin shoot that first round with the left hand. IMO this just has to be shooter related. Have to agree with the great one on this. Hurts tohav eto say that to...
the gun certainly does not know it is the first round of the first session????

Are you carrying it loaded with your range ammo to the range? If so BEFORE that first shot, while pointing down range, give the bottom of the mag a good pop. If not loaded, after loading, do likewise.
It almost has to be something you bring to the range. Another thing that come to mind is your oiling is tacky and loosens up when warm.

Yes it is only the first round. Speaking of oil, I switched to Hoppes lubrication right before this started from some other brand. (can't remember) is it just me or does the pm9 seem to need plenty of lube? I will check that the american eagle ammo is clearing. And yeah technique, i'm trying to undo my flinch anticipating.

kahrs do not need alot of lube. If u run a line of gun greaseinside the slide rails, you have lubed the basic big part of the gun, and it won't run in your pocket or where ever..

Ok the cheap federal stuff clears but closely. I haven't had this problem till now, am I not cleaning it good enough? I bring to the range empty then load. It's always only the very first round, kahr says to try different ammo, but something tells me it's another reason???

Purely as a diagnostic try ejecting the first round to see if the slide locks open. If not then fire the second.
