Hello everyone. New to the forum but not new to Kahr, (MK9) but new to PM45. I purchased it yesterday and shot 100 rounds through it today. At 10 yds. its a tack driver, but at 20yds I cant hit the broad side of a barn. However, I know that its operator error. Lots of fun to shoot and a recoil about like my S&W 642. I am very happy with this gun and will purchase a couple of mags with 6+1 capacity. Thanks for the good chatter about this gun because that is one of the main reasons I purchsed it.

Welcome. Mine is exactly the same way. Tack driver at 10 and under but good luck beyond that. I have about 500 or so thru mine and I still love it like we just met. I just can't hit out there at the 20 yard line. Like you say I know it's me but always look for a viable excuse.

The fan in the indoor range was really blowing, might of effected the bullet flight?

yup it is the shooter but IMO it won't get that much better at 20 yards either. When I read of someone coming on this fourm and stating 3" groups at 25 yards. I have to think two things. He is just one hell of a shooter OR he is just one hell of a liar.

My bet is the second. I won't go into details . so Mailman welcome aboard and join the club of shooters who don't do well at all at 20+ yards. I won't say that kahrs were not designed to be shot at 20 yards but I wil lsay I think they were designed to be close up personal hand shaking killing machines..

Have not tried my PM45 beyond 50feet....

Interesting experience I had a few decades ago: My friend and I both decided to get Model 60 Smith and Wesson revolvers when they first came off "allocation" and the price was again in line with MSRP. Before that, there was a huge scalp going on, with the "$235 Chief's" going for well over $500.... but I digress.

We got the Chiefs and at close range, they were fine, but beyond about 50 feet, as they say in New York "fuggettabouddit!". Then my other friend Ken came up with a grip system for the range's Ransom Rest. We trucked the Ransom up to the local outdoor range (old Everglades Range). Hollow base wadcutters and bevel base wadcutters shot well out to 50 yards, with groups of about 4" or so. Handheld, we could more or less keep "on the paper" using that well known "burly bad guy" target. The conclusion was that the short sight radius was not doing the built in mechanical accuracy of the gun any justice.

No doubt, our short PM45's suffer from the same fate. Who cares? If the bg is 20 yards away he either:

a) no threat
b) has a rifle, in which case I'm screwed anyway
c) is getting a great look at my behind as I run in the opposite direction!

It would be a determined assailant indeed that was popping off rounds at me with a pistol from long distance. Not sayin' it cant happen... but.... I'll take pointability, ease of carry, safety and reliability when dealing with a compact, pocket sized pistol.

good points. I sold the Model 60 when they first came out, they msrp for $150, u couldn't find one for $300 for a few years even. I still have mine from that era and in 74 I had it fully engraved by a new man on the block that today is one of the premier engravers n the world. Mike Dubber, google him up sometime and see his work. anyway he was a vietnam vet looking for some work and he was an engraver. I gave him my model 60 and said do what ever you want. He engraved every area on that smith. It looks super, maybe gaudy to some but are u sittinbg down. He charged me $50 bucks back then to do the work.

He has done some works of art engraving for general Schwartkoff and Bush 41.. He won't even look at a gun today for less than $3500..

Thanks for the positive replys, all. The way I see it is anything beyound 20yds, I am either going to see it coming and have a chance to get ready for a closer shot or its far enough for me to get out of the way to avoid the confirtation all together. My goal is to protect and survive. Thanks again for the replys.

Welcome to Kahrtalk!

Pretty new here myself and new to Kahr firearms, mine is a PM9. Right now Kahr .45s aren't even a gleam in my eye. Continued success with yours.

I have been a 1911/1991 guy for years. They are good at the range, but to heavy or me to carry all day. The .45 acp is the round from GOD and the way go, so I tried the PM45, and I am very well pleased. After 100 rounds only one casing hit me in the forehead. Try it, You like it. See ya

I bought 2 - 6 round mags today. I think we are good to go with this one. Good night all. Baby is crying.

Welcome to the forum Mailman. Hope you enjoy your new .45. I have trouble hitting the target with any handgun at 20 yards, except for my S&W 629, but it's good to go way beyond 20 yards, as long as I have a sandbag or something to keep my hands steady.

The 7-rounders with extended grip have never failed me... nice for the range or more capacity for home protection... could carry as reload, too. wynn:)

Welcome to the forum Mailman.

I'm no great shot, but the PM 45 is more accurate than you might think.

At a friends house he has a range. From the bench to the farthest gong is about 140 yards.

This gong is six inches, and no, I couldn't hit it! But if you'd been standing next to it you might have taken a round or two out of the 15 or 20 I fired at it. Anyone with any sense would have for sure taken cover. I would guess that I was keeping them in about a five or six foot group. The pistol was very new and was still jamming every mag. But I was in love, that's for sure.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys. This seems to be a great forum. A lot of well informed folks here. Not able to shoot today or tommorrow. Monday or Tuesday hopefully. I will let you guys know how it goes. Also, I carry a S&W 642 + P w/ hollow points, she shoots as well as the PM45. I will try to discover the differences in accuracy at distance. See ya

Dang! 140 yards! The .45 must drop 3 to 4 feet at that range. Wynn:)

I saw Hickok hit the gong at 80 yards with a PM9 in one of his videos.

Wynn,

I'd say the loads I was shooting were dropping between four and five feet. I sure wanted to hit that gong. It would have been pure accident but I'd've taken it! :)
