Ok, I get an e-mail that says Students for Concealed Carry on Campus is having an open holster protest at all of my campus', and not to freak out. Ok, fine, dandy, as an employee of the college, I can't do it at work, but the nights were I'm in class is another ball game. Keep in mind that here in TX there are very few reasons that are legal to open carry, so I have my holsters accordingly. Specifically, I have tuckable, pocket, and an ankle rig for most of my holster needs. How do I openly display something that is meant to be concealed? Think about the pocket holster, or the tuckables. Any thoughts on this one?

Were I you I'd not give it a thought and I would NOT participate. While the others stand to get a ruler accross the knuckles (oh they probably can't do that anymore huh?) or punishment you could very well end up with your job on the line.
The way I read that statement is an open holster with no gun in it? Am I deciphering that correctly you think. Surely the staff would come unraveled if everyone showed up open carrying?
I'm all for carrying on a college campus (not open) for people who normally qualify, I'm all for carrying everywhere, we all know that but I think I'd watch this one and see how it shakes out.

I agree with Bawanna. In this economy, you don't want to do anything that might put your job in jeopardy.

Third Bawanna! Folks get hurt for association all the time these days. I don't work now but when I did there was always a clause that I represented the company all the time and my actions must be in accordance with their direction. I never DID anything contrary to that, but I DID NOT do anything contrary to my beliefs - even when they wanted me to.

Yes it is an empty holster with no weapon. Like I said with the work shirt on, it's a no go, but when in class I was wondering how do openly show an empty pocket holster. I kinda meant it to be a little funny, and have no thoughts on participating. Last thing I want is to put the job on the line.

How about an ankle holster but out over the pant leg? May be a good place to put the calculator and pens and pencils. :nerd:

I thought about that, and decided that I would look more like a tool doing that. It hit me later that walk around with an empty holster, and you look like a tool anyway. I have American History and Corrections systems and practices on campus. Half the damn class on that last one are reserve cops, or part time cops, or otherwise authorized to carry, and the class is taught by a probation officer. I think I'll sit this one out, and just do the write the congress critter bit. Besides my ankle holster is open on the bottom.
