Now I'm at my witts end. Have had issues with this PM40 regarding it's recoil spring and mag follower breaking, and Kahr has taken care of the springs, replaced the mag follower (they still keep breaking).

Suddenly the slide now will not stay open. I have replaced the slide stop spring, and with the slide off the frame, I can insert a magazine and the follower will push up the slide stop without a problem. Remove the magazine, reinstall the slide, and the slide stop will NOT move up to hold open the slide, with or without a magazine inserted.

If you try to push up on the slide stop with the slide at its correct "locked back notch", you cannot manually push up the slide stop.

What's the problem? It is a 2004 model.

Any help would be appreciated. Kahr wasn't much help.

count the coils on your outter recoil spring, if there is 15 coils they sent you the wrong springs, your gun should have 13 coils on the outter recoil spring, does by any chance the new recoil assembly stick out a tad in the front ??? If all of that checks out OK, IMO the gun needs to go back to kahr and ur probably gonna be responsible for postage both ways due to age and then hopefully kahr will fix the rest no charge, depending what is wrong. I would call and chat with Jay to get some feedback..

Just guessing alittle but with the slide off and no barrel, there is zero pressure on the slide stop lever but with the slide back on and barrel and springs allin place andnow withthe slide back the barrel is in its tolting position and with the slide stop lev\er going through the barrel lug, something is causinbg it to bind up and not allow it to move freely.

PM sent.

if you changed the recoil spring try the old outer with the new inner spring. i bought a new spring set for a new to me pm9 and had the same problem with the new spring installed. i think that the somehow the springs got mixed up and the spring sets are oversprung the good news is that they shoot fine.i have taken the new outer spring off and replaced it with the old outer and can now lock the slide back but it is still not the proper solution.kahr in their defence sent me a new spring set that i tried to cut down but i gave up when i got to 10coils and still could not lock the slide by hand.hope this helps
