Anybody still watching this?
After tonight, I'm not sure I care about seeing it . These guys who have deemed themselves superior because of their station in the military, especially George, really piss me off. George believes anybody who isn't in the service, or in the "right" part of it, isn't worthy of his respect at all.
They almost make me ashamed to admit I served. I hope everybody seeing this show doesn't think we're all like that. These jerks have embarrassed us all who served.
I never looked down on anybody who didn't serve in the military, except the dodgers who ran to Canada back in the 60's when I was in.
I hope Jay wins it all in this show, at least he's honest about how he's conducted himself, and Jamie too. I hope George gets his ass handed to him.
OK, through ranting........

I've seen the show only a couple times. I agree with you about those who ran to Canada. Were you in Southeast Asia Jimbar?

Thank you for your service wherever you served.

I was on an aircraft carrier about 50 miles out in the South China Sea.

In 1962, right after high school, I tried to enlist in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Physical problems kept me out and I've felt guilty ever since. My buddies and relatives all served... some in Vietnam.

The following year, I turned 18 and received my draft notice. Sadly though, the result was the same.

Ditto for me. I tried to get in them all. Color blind, hearing loss etc, they wouldn't have me. I try to console myself by thinking of all the North Vietnamese that lived cause I wasn't there. Still feel guilty though.

Well Jay lost the challenge tonight, the Navy guy is the odd man out now, not in the cliche. I hope he kicks all their backsides and walks away the winner.

If they'd let me, I'd serve now. We older guys could load magazines or perform administrative duties to free up the younger folks.

I watched it a couple times. There is a little too much extracurricular BS for me.

i had missed a couple episodes but i did watch the one that was on earlier..and looks like jay got the boot. earlier on he was the one who pestered me with his knowledge of everything, and when he adjusted the sights on the rifle that everyone on the team had to shoot. even with the bs, at least its a gun show and still it will require the best shooter to win

I haven't watched tonights yet, but went to the history channel and people are supremely disappointed in the "characters" and are dropping watching over on their forum. There must be a disconnect with people really, as long as I've been involved in guns and concealed carry, and gone into gun stores and shows and other forums, I've dropped for the same reason people don't like top shot. I've encountered nothing but the personality's everyone seems to hate so much. I think the entire shooting group should look in the mirror and see it themselves. Right now, other than here and when I'm in the market for a new gun, the last thing I want to be around are so called experts and their arrogance. I'm tired of people blaming the show without blaming the community we belong to.

That wouldn't have been the Oriskany (aka the USS Zippo) would it?

IMHO it is a show by tools for tools. Iagree that George needs to be smacked upside his big ole dumb head. George especially does not like Jamie a fellow service member. What a hoser.

+1 big time on this. I especially dislike the arrogance of the so called experts that teach young new shooter and puff themselves up to impress them since they apparently can't impress anyone else. No reason for that at all.

I did like Georges impressive 1st shot hit at 1000 yards but as he said thats what he does, should expect nothing less. His personal dislike for Jamie I could certainly do without. I hope ole George gets sent packing next episode.
I was also impressed with the tattooed man, must have come straight from the circus or something.

I didn't like Jays attitude or style but he held his own against the pros. Could be his association with golf too. I always hated golf. Never played. So guess I shouldn't criticize but seems like a stupid game to me.

Yeah we got that too. It works for me if my wife is out of town or gone someplace. Kind of like Kung Fu, she says when I can snatch it from her hand it's time for me to go... I'd rather do away with it myself, it's a lethal projectile in the right scenarios and it can hurt like heck.

It's actually not a bad thing, makes me just want to stay in the man cave and do something productive like make little pieces of wood out of big ones, or clean guns just cause I want to. Never enough time even without the tv.

It's not just the gun community however. I think certain types of activities seem to attract a higher than normal percentage of people with this type of personality.

I saw much the same thing when I was active in skydiving. Akin to "wow, look at me, I have these big hairy guns that go bang" it was "wow, look at me, I jump out of perfectly good airplanes."

I was always thinking to myself: OK, that's a one-trick pony. Get over yourselves. We're all out here doing the same thing only some of us don't need to show off with how brave we are, or how good we are, or how much smarter we are about the sport than anyone else around.

Fortunately, there are plenty of great people around in all of these communities, but they do also tend to attract some less than desirable traits among others.

George has skills, but he's turning out to be a donkey's backside. I'm betting on Brian Zins to win.

George obviously has not learned a principal lesson, Those that do don't say and those that say don't do.

AKA the bigger the braggart the less actual expeirience he has.

I'm writing this down, this is a good one to remember. Although I really have nothing to say about it.

"Yep, he's got experience and confidence without being arrogant."
I've had people describe me this way before too.

Well actually they left out the without arrogance part, and the confidence thing, I guess they didnt mention experience either. Other than that it fits me to a "T".

No, I was on the Ranger CVA61, sadly, the old girl was retired many years ago. I think she may still be here in Wa at the Puget Sound Naval Yard, where they store some decommisioned ships.

I watch the show regularly and think the best guy left last week, I think his name was Darryl. George is a real blowhard. Even after he lost the 1000 yard challenge he tried to belittle the winner because he didn't do it with one shot. Get over yourself George.

Too bad, Jay got sent home last night. I think I will just watch this show as I watch any other scripted tv show with actors. Won't get upset that way,.....but I still hope "Georgie" boy goes packing next week, but I'm sure he'll never face an elimination match, since he's the leader of the group.

I think its completely safe to say if it's on TV, it's scripted always.

Regarding your decommissioned ship, I was soooo ticked when they took the Missouri to Hawaii. I was beside myself for months. I guess Pearl Harbor is alot more historical than Ballard but it was like giving it back to the people that surrendered on it in my book.

I was on it several times when they had tours. The history just dripped all over ya walking (back in the day) around that ship and the crew that walked the same areas. Definitely caused goose bumps very large.

I always had intentions of going on the Missouri when she was in Bremerton, but never made it, dang it !
About 10yrs ago, when the Nimmitz was in Bremerton, an old Navy buddy's son-in-law was stationed on her. They had a "family" cruise, and he invited me and my wife to come along. I got to show her what it was like living on a ship back in the day, while she was at home worrying about me. I'm sure glad we got that chance.

Yup, Bremerton, not Ballard. I got my Navy and my lutfisk mixed up.

That had to be a cool cruise having been there yourself and able to share with the wife.

On the subject of the show, I remember reading a comment from Sonny Puzikas when he was featured on that show about the best warriors. Ultimate Warrior or something like that. They did a Spetsnaz versus Green Beret episode, and Sonny was on the Spetsnaz side. He said that the producers were constantly riding the cast to "talk trash" to one another, and belittle the other side. They said it made better television. One wonders how much of that stuff is going on in Top Shot. Still, there is no excuse for the conduct seen there by some of the shooters. Being a gentleman is more important than being a good shooter.

I had my application all filled out and ready to go for season 2 of Top Shot (this season). Based on what I learned about the producers, I had created a character that would have probably made most of you hate me too. :)

After my wife and I discussed the amount of time away from family and burning up all my vacation time to do the pre-show and, potentially, the show, I decided against sending in my application.

In my opinion, getting on the show requires two things ... 1. You need to be a reasonably good (but, not necessarily great) shooter and; 2. You need to play some sort of character to make the viewers love or hate you.
