Hello guys and gals. I just purchased a PM9 (get to pick it up this Thursday) and need a grip solution. Apparently I have dainty lady hands and the stock polymer grips make it hard for me to maintain a secure, consistent grip.

I am looking into the AGrip material (I use it on my G19 and like it) but was wondering what the community uses AND WHY. What do you love/hate about your grip solution? Any recommendations?

My biggest issue with the PM9 is maintaining a consistent grip. I was thinking of something like the Pachmayr slip-on grips would be helpful (http://www.pachmayr.com/slip-on-grips.php) because of the finger grooves. Anyone have these on their PM9? if so what size and how do you like?

Thanks in advance. This is a great community and I look forward to participating - you guys have already been very helpful.

I use Hogue Handall Jr. as seen on one of my Kahr pistols.
Now they all have one.

Thanks for the input guys. Any other suggestions welcome. I like the idea of the Hogue because of the finger groove. Anything that will provide a little more traction and surface area would be great.

A couple of years ago I bought a product called "WhataGrip" in the sporting goods department of some store. It's actually made for tennis rackets, but looks like it would work fine on a Kahr. It was only a few dollars and there's enough for 3 or 4 guns. I always wear a shooting glove on my right hand, so I've never used it.

Somebody else here, dang the memory is a terrible thing to lose, used that what a grip stuff. I've been meaning to get some but haven't stumbled onto yet. It reportedly works very well also.

I use the Hogues on my PM45, an upgrade from my bicycle innertube which worked just fine also.
I'm not sure they have a model that fits the PM9 tight enough, seems I've heard you have to wrap the grip with something first so they fit tight.

As suggested by someone else here, again I can't give credit since I forget who it was Vinikahr maybe??? I installed the Hogue upside down. It put the finger groove in a better place for my hand. Still looks like it was made for it which it obviously was. Even upside down.

Picked up my PM9 today (bought used from a dealer VC1 series) - needs a cleaning bad since I have been shooting the hell out of it during the waiting period.

Threw on a CT trigger guard and went ahead and ordered the Hogues - should have them tomorrow. Will post a pic and let you know what I think of the fit.

Thanks for all the input. If the Hogues don't work out, at least I have a few other options to try.

Interesting looking stuff, cheap, and available at this link (http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Tourna_Sports_What_A_Grip/descpageACUNIQUE-WAG.html#). I will be curious to hear how it works if someone tries it.

So far, I am happy. I have had 2 Fail to fire's, but it was used (supposedly cleaned by store) and I have not had a chance to clean it yet. Field stripped it when I got home and it was D-I-R-T-Y! I will clean it up like new and try it out this weekend. For now, I am blaming the FTF on the gun just needing a little TLC and a major cleaning. I am fairly sure that will do the trick.

Hell no! You might even win an award for bravery! :D

You wouldn't happen to have a boy named Sue in your family would you? :behindsofa:

Actually my middle name is Sue, thank you for asking. I'm gonna go with the purple. If it's too girlyman I can always take up tennis and then it would fit right in with my whitey tighty tennis shorts. Alot of people in chairs play tennis? What kind of punishment is that. I didn't like it much when I had legs, playing in a chair would be masochistic.

I did like racketball, now that's a fast action break a sweat sport right there. No wheels in that game.

I'm an AGrip guy and have some on order for my PM9.

I went ahead and ordered the aGrip as well - use it on my G19 and love it. I figure I could cover the Hogues with it IF necessary. I also have the CT trigger guard which MAY cause conflict with the Hogue grips. At least with the AGrip, I can cut around the CT button then "tape" it all down tight with the AGrip.

Will let you guys know how it works out - will post pictures as well.

Thanks again for all of your input.

Hogue Jr just came in. Followed advice and put on upside-down. Was able to put it on without any trimming and CT reinstalled over it smoothly with no problem. Feels a bit better in the hand - slightly tacky - and actually improves the actuation of the CT; I had to really squeeze to get enough pad pressure to activate the laser, now "it just works".

I ordered AGrip and will run a few rounds through her this weekend, with just the Hogue Jr, and see how it feels. So far, it is an improvement - even if it only makes the CT activate more easily. If it holds up to sweaty hands, I may hold off on the AGrip - worst case I will add the AGrip over the Hogue since the AGrip is so thin it will only change the texture of the grip.

Why not try stippling?

I hav emy PM9 and P380 and G19 all grip stippled, not really because I hated the factory set up, I just like to fokk with guns. I did not do the stipplying either.

Some hate it, some like it some just don't know. The bad thing about it is that once stippled you can't go backwards, u can't start from first base anymore. Grip stipplying can be almost as harsh as some factory grips are to, so please don't take grip stipplying as a cure for all problems.

I like um, for me it looks cool if that means anything to you. Normally with grip stipplying you are also maybe reducing grips size to and if that is yoiur goal, then stippling is the way to go. There are good stipplers out there to. Some have done so many that they know how to do it to make it feel right. A good example was that when I had my P380 stippled by Accursate Iron, Mike Cwyurus, who is a smitty and one hell of a shooter did my stippling in two different textures and his theory was that a hard textures all through sometimes makes it harder to draw the gun out of ones pocket but if the top portion is a fner texture than say the lower actual grip area, it tends not to hand up in some pocket rigs to. Made sense, not sure I can tell any difference but it is a conversation subject anyhow and it certainly didn't degrade the work either, .

think aboutt grip stipplying before yo do it, there are some nice slip on grips out there today to try and not change the looks either. ALSO for trade in purposes, you will take an ass beating trying to trade in a gun that is grip stippled and like my PM9 custom, also has mag well cuts outs etc. Be prepared to die with it or prepared to eat alot of loss when trading. I dont buy um to trade so any moneys I spent on my custom work on my PM9 I realize is pissing in the wind. It won't enhance value, anymore than saying I had an action job done on it blah blah blah..

I like a grip stippled gun, My G19 is absolutely awesome.. courser I am a fan of Magna porting to and many disagree on that also..

I tried the Hogue grip which was Ok, but my preference was the AGrip. It just makes the gun feel great in the hand; highly recommended.

According to the package, these are size "3A". Here's a link. (http://www.qwikgrip.com/page2.htm) You will find a size chart here that suggests that a "3" might have been a better choice, but these work well for me. They make my PM40 fun to shoot. So, they should do wonders for a 9mm. :D

I should add that I said "they" because I also have one (size "2") on the CW40 with similar positive results.

I've got the hogue handall JR. grip but it appears that yours is a better fit. Sometimes I have issues with it sliding down, I probably should get an exacto knife and trim it but I'll pick up one of these and see which I like better.

Anybody have a Qwikgrip on their PM45? I'm thinking the 3A as the 3 is full size and they talk about the grip length. If it fits on a PM9 and 40 though it might be pretty darn tight on a PM45.

I notice he dont take credit cards and may in the future use Pay Pal. So I guess one has to send a check maybe in a bottle tossed into the ocean and hope for the best? I remember talk about this, don't remember exactly all the details.

Bill, do you mind if I ask WHY you are an A grip guy? What exactly is the texture? As mentioned in the thread, one fella said he liked the Hogue grip as it had a finger grove. I know the A grip just wraps around so there is no finger groove, but do you find it adds traction for your hand? Have you had any trouble with the sticky stuff staying sticky going in and out of a holster? Thanks. --John

I just went out into the garage and found an unused bike tire tube... size 1.75x26. It couldn't get any cheaper, or fit any better. I custom-fitted all of the polymers, starting with the largest(PM45) and putting the mistakes on the smaller ones... PM9 and P380. Watch out for the Talcum powder inside the tube. Turn the tube inside out and wash and dry before final cutting of each grip cover... and be careful if trimming in place on the pistol. Don't cover the mag catch... front or back, and keep it out of the mag well.

Bawanna, I have the 3A for my CM9. It is fairly tight, but it shifted a bit when I was wrestling to get the gun out of an overly tight holster I just bought. I bet it will stretch enough to go on your PM45.

I sent an email inquiry to qwikgrip to see what he says. I'll let everyone know when he responds, maybe save someone some returning and redoing.
I was gonna go with the 3A since I figure tight is good but I'll wait for his recomendation.

That AGrip has me interested. More expensive but they offer a full 100% 90 day money back guarantee according to thier website= no questions asked. Would love to hear a few more folks with one of these on the small P380 or PM9.

The response from Barry at Qwikgrip regarding proper fit for my PM45.

good morning,,,, the size #2 & size #3 both fit,,,if you want extra length and want to trim or custom fit it to your needs, the size #2 is the way to go,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but,,,if you just want to have a normal fit, then,,,,we recommend the size #3,,(not a 3A),,,hope this helps,,,,,,,, barry

So a #2 if you wanna custom fit yourself, or a #3 (not 3A) if you want a drop on or more likely wrestle on which is good.

I was sent size #2 and it is way too big for the CM9, Yes, you can cut it to fit, but it's too wide IMHO. Go with the 3 (not A).

I like the Talon sandpaper grips. I have them on all my polymer guns. Wet or dry, they do not slip. Cheap, easy to put on and they do not move.

Brooks Tactical has been around a long time. Not for everyone, but it really does provide a sound, comfortable grip for Kahrsters. www.bestdefense.com (http://www.bestdefense.com) has the Kahr models at a fair price. You can also get uncut Agrip sheets if you want custom configurations. Brooks made a magwrap a few years ago, and I've seen people die the material different colors. I think that's how it got the nickname "Pimp Grip". Velour baby.

talon grips; they make a rubber and granulate "skate board" textured versions. you can check the link in my signature for a more detailed description if interested.

I tried the Talon rubber grip for a month or so and then I tried the Talon sandpaper. The sandpaper grip give alot better grip on the gun and a lot less movement in your hand compared to the rubber. The sandpaper will start to dig into your hand after 100 rounds or so and you do not want it rubbing on your skin while in the holster.

i agree, i used to use the sand paper talon grips on my gen3 glocks before the gen4s came out and i no longer found a need for them. by far they give the best grip of everything i have ever tried over the years. but like you said, they are not very carry friendly, especially for pocket carry which is how i've been preferring to carry my cm9.

I went with the Talon Granulate (sandpaper) as well. Here is how I know these things work. I shot 450 rounds down the pipe in my CM9 with no blistering. After installing the Talons I shot 170 rounds after I got the CM9 back from Kahr and I have a blister in the webbing between my index and thumb right near the lower thumb knuckle. I originally thought it was because the sand paper was rubbing. After looking closer, the Talon did not even come close to this area of my hand. It was the beaver tail edge of the frame (below the slide) causing the rubbing. Here is what this meant to me- I fired 450 rounds with no rubbing meaning the gun must have been sliding all around in my hand. So much so that I never developed a hot spot on my hand. The Talon kept the CM9 right where it needed to be with no sliding around- thus causing me to grip and keep the edge of the frame rub the same spot in my hand over and over. Hopefully that makes sense. I may sand the edge of the polymer frame a bit or even slap some moleskin on the precise spot on the frame.
Lastly, I chatted with Derik at Talon Grips a few times. He is a good guy to do business with.
